1.
Beautiful!! Our spec's seem to have been very close WoT! Mine arrived last Wednesday and has blown me away - playability, tone, craftsmanship, the whole nine yards. So much so that I have not put it down to take any detailed photos (but I will!!) Here's the one that Adrian sent over just before the bass shipped.
Great looking bass Si
2. I think I asked Adrian to wire my JJ as humbucking with the pot in the down position, then single coil in the up position, don't know if this is also the standard way? I believe the bass finished and being setup this week, and so will hopefully get a photo soon and be ready to send out by the end of the week (fingers crossed) Si
3. Mike replied to me about the Pope Flexcore, very helpful guy and it sounds like the Flexcore can be arranged in any number of different combinations. Definitely of interest to me as an alternative to a J-Retro/U-Retro/Uni-Pre Si
4.
Trigger pulled. 7lbs 7ozs of passive SAUCE. Come to Daddy, you strumpet!
Fit!! It will probably even arrive before mine haha Si
5. Few pedals left to go, all prices are plus £5 delivery, unless you wish to collect from Welwyn Garden City/High Wycombe: - Idiotbox Bass Fuzz - Lots of bassy fuzz from this pedal, it rumbles. I'd liken it to a Mammoth without the gate. Excellent condition with box £70 Sound clip attached at bottom of thread, running through the Mids control. Download and rename to .wav [s]- SolidGold FX Beta - Bass overdrive that goes from Motown thump to grindy gain without any bass loss at all. Lots of hype, able to back it up! Excellent condition, with Box, velcro on bottom of pedal -[/s] SOLD - Boss LM-2 Limiter - Made in Japan, great condition, functional effect, cheap price - £35 - DIY (by me) Klon Buffer - A buffer pedal based on that the excellent buffer from the original Klon. For those all true-bypass pedalboards. Small 1590a enclosure. Tidy inside - £15 Will consider trades for interesting Phasers. Cheers Si
6. I emailed Pope about the Flexcore and no reply in 5 days or so. Would be keen for opinions, although think it's probably fairly rare (assuming it's wildly different from the Fodera pre) Si
7. I'll certainly be videoing/demoing this bad-boy for people! Si
8.
The Organizer has a bit of latency (delay between the dry and effect signal) that you may or may not tolerate, or even see as positive part of the effect - personally I hate that aspect of many digital octavers/pitch shifters.
The Organiser is not designed to be a true octave in the sense that it sits right on top of your note, the lag is part of the design, and can be adjusted with the lag control. My opinion of it is that it sounds awesome with lag (if that's the ambient vibe you're going for), and a bit strange with no lag. If you want a conventional octave, don't buy the Organizer .....but it is awesome. OC-2 wins everytime for my money, although interested in trying the new iteration of the EBS, plus the COG T-16, octave might change everything Si
9. Also bear in mind that different strings have different tensions! Everyone's experience of different scales, different makes & different strings, not to mention how they play (a lighter touch negates needing as high a tension), means that it's all very subjective Felix Pastoius' 6 string is 33" Owen Biddle's 6 string is 30" Si
10. If you do decide to go with something Focusrite flavoured, I'm always available (in the Recording forum only) with my 'Focusrite Technical Support' hat on if you should ever need any help. Cheers Si
11. You could have had the book delivered by now lol I used my ears, the book plus Scotts lesson to learn Teen Town. It's a great combo Si
12. If you want a Shimmer, doesn't get much better than the Mr Black Eterna. The EQD Afterneath is also awesome for modulated madness Si
13.
I may be doing a bit of Maruszczyk-shaped trugger-pulling in the next couple of days. We'll see...
You're not allowed to until mine is finished Si
14. I owned a 44-02 Deluxe for a little while, and was thoroughly underwhelmed by it. Lovely figured top, average neck, very plain maple fingerboard. Bartolini pickups and a preamp which was just very polite. So I wouldn't hurry to own that side of the project range again. That said, I am always intrigued with the passive 'Fender'-alike side of the range, strangely I very much like their over-sized, faux clay fingerboard dots. Seen Dave Bronze play a few times recently, and his Lakland Jazz (not sure on model) always sounds awesome! Si
15. Over the last 5 years or so there definitely has been a air of "if it's not true bypass, it's crap" ethos, not really based on anything tbh. Obviously silly when consider pedals like the Darkglass B7K is buffered, Put simply, if you have a pedalboard with only true bypass pedals, the total length of all your patch cables is added to your instrument cable length to determine the total cable length between your bass and amp. Super long cables are the biggest cause of signal degradation. If you place a buffered pedal such as a Boss, somewhere in your chain, because the way impedance works, it effectively acts as if the start of your signal chain is from that buffered pedal, therefore reducing any signal loss etc. Some people may happen to just have true bypass pedals on their board, and so it's possible to buy a little buffer pedal to put somewhere on your board. I've built a few of these, basically just the Klon buffer section stripped out into a 1590a enclosure. Pretty effective if you don't have a Boss Tuner to hand. Si
16.
Hold in there mate, has to be really soon now! I got an email from Adrian last Friday to say it was ready. Final payment later and it was shipped on Sunday and arrived in Dublin today Happy out to say they lease - reports to come!!
Looking forward to seeing yours! Si
17.
Just got an update from Fedex to say that mine has been delivered to my home today!!! The wait is finally over Si Any sign of yours yet?
No, i haven't had the email to say it's finished yet Possibly taken a little longer because I requested 33" scale, which isn't standard for them, and also a chambered body. Si

19. The best bass is the one that sits in your hands nicely and allows you to play the bass parts well. There really is no make/model that is 'better' for a genre than others. Case in point: Tina Turner's some-time bass player, Warren Mcrae plays ESP, even seen him with an F-Series (usually seen with the likes of Cradle Of Filth, Chthonic etc) Martín Méndez from Opeth plays a Fender Marcus Miller signature 4 string bass. Sounds great! Si
20. How is the Mooer Phaser on bass compared to the small stone? Si
21.
. Did see Richard Bona, little dissapointing, maybe wasn't his day.
Really? That's surprising! What was lacking? I've seen him about 7 times and was outstanding everytime Si
22.
Well it's quite normal to put ammo in a magazine. Sorry ...
/thread Si
23. Saw Caspian a couple of weeks ago who are just excellent every time. Great instrumental 'post-rock' tunes, and just every instruments tone is perfect, which is always touch live. Also saw a full rendition of Tubular Bells friday just gone, including some other Mike Oldfield classics. TB was good, but they also performed Sentinel from TB2, which was flawless and quite moving! 25 piece band, all reading it! :-O Si
24. So today is the 'deadline' for my 10 week wait Hopefully i'll be receiving the finished email soon, maybe sometime this week, excited Si
