1. Very good drummer with great facility! If you can't discern the difference between how he might play on a gig vs how he's playing on a clinic style drum promo, then give up YouTube and stick with your live gig dvds! That way you're spreading less negativity about someone and their, clearly evident, abilities. Who the hell wants to watch someone play the actual Thriller drum part on a video without the rest of the band?! Lol Si
2. I ordered mine blind simply because I trust WoTs appraisal of them, largely because we both came from playing early 70's Fenders. Si
3. Thanks for the kind words guys. I should point out that I don't HAVE to sell (at this point anyway), there's no gun to my head from Mrs Sibob, far from it. I just feel it's the right thing for me to do at this moment! Many thanks Si
4. I think D'Addario are having a bit of a Bass resurgence in the UK at the moment, or certainly that's my perception of it. From where I'm sitting, that's a lot to do with Andrew. So thanks to Andrew and D'addario for taking interest in the 'grass roots' and small artist bassists Still rocking D'addario on my medium scale Jazz and '71 Precision. Will soon be stringing my upcoming Maruszczyk with them too. My Fodera is for sale, so may not last long enough to see D's as I have two sets of Fodera strings to pop on first, but who knows, would be an ace combo! Si
5. Hi all, Well, it is with sadness, but much excitement (read on), that I put my 2015 Fodera Matt Garrison Standard up for sale......as if there's anything 'standard' about it. There may be some eye rolling surrounding this, however the reason is not due to unhappiness with the instrument, it's stunning and everything I could ask for in a bass! However, I am expecting my first child in April (that's the exciting bit) and I want to free some cash from this bass in order to start building some more substantial savings. Ultimately I feel lucky to have owned this, I visited the Fodera factory in New York during its construction with the Fodera family being so welcoming and lovely to us. It will forever be a benchmark, but at this point in my life, more important things are afoot. Onto the particulars: Body: Walnut body wings Alder Tone block Non-solid Madrone Burr Top Neck: Madagascar Kingwood Fingerboard 3-pc Hard Rock Maple Neck Mother-of-Pearl Dot Inlays 28-100 Nickel Strings Construction: Neck-Through Construction (same as Elite spec custom models) Angled headstock (same as custom models) 33" Scale 5 String Configuration (strung E-C, but low B tuning possible with change of nut) 17.5mm string spacing De-tuner Straplocks Fodera Hardcase Electronics: Fodera / Pope Custom 3-Band Preamp Fodera / Duncan Dual Coil Pickups Full product page is here: http://fodera.com/ma...rison-standard/ The Madrone top on mine is stunning, it has quilt, Birdseye, flame, you name it! The Kingwood (rosewood specie) fingerboard is dark with some subtle figuring. The three-piece maple neck is rock maple on the sides with a flamed maple centre piece. I'll also include a Klondyke bass strap and as mentioned, 2 sets of Fodera 28-100 strings The bass is in mint, as new, condition. It has been gigged, but looked after perfectly! Please feel free to ask questions, for specific photos etc. Cash (bank transfer) is king, I will likely replace this at some point after sale with something of lesser value, but I haven't decided what (if at all) that will be. However, try me on part-ex, you never know. Photo gallery (with difficult lighting): http://postimg.org/gallery/2r2vmpvcu/ I am located in Welwyn Garden City or High Wycombe, UK. Obviously seeing/trying the bass will likely be preferable for you, I'm sure we can sort something out. I will ship at your expense, we can discuss that, but would obviously prefer meetup/collection due to the worth of the instrument. Even if you're in France or Belgium for example, it would likely be cheaper/less stress to Eurostar to London for the day to collect. SOLD Many thanks Sibob (dad to be) Also struck me that this is a wedge of cash, and those who don't know me might want to see my buying/selling feedback: http://basschat.co.u...30#entry2917130
6. Very nice! Si
7. Hi all, Bit of a last minute one, but my Math Rock/Gypsy Jazz type instrumental 3-piece, Corybantic, is opening up the proceedings at the Sebright arms this evening (Friday). If you're at a loose end, pop down. Let me know if you are and I can put you the £5 guestlist: Demos: http://corybantic.bandcamp.com/releases http://symptomaticpresents.com/symptomatic/listings/20151106-sebrightarms/ Si
8. Nice, looks a bit like Foderas Imperial II (2) Si
9.
I still would though.
Cool contribution man, I do imagine that's why she did it. Note: Her new album concept revolves around her taking on a different 'persona', even if it was weird for someone to 'look different' between albums, this might explain an element of it for those that it troubles/takes up brain space. I like what I've heard of the new album, but the 'no hook' argument kinda doesn't make sense to me. Not all music is centered around hooks, pop (popular) music is, but this isn't that . Si
10.
Makes no difference to me who is performing - it's a cracking day out regardless, assuming I can get the ankle tag off for a few hours.
This! Si
11. Thanks very much for the comparison, very interesting! Si
12.
I am in ... sputnik :-)
Very nice! Really interested to know how this directly compares to your Fodera?! Si
13.
Cool, there's one that I'm looking at right now, it's perfect but there's one thing I don't like and that's the pickguard. You think if I sent them an email they'd let me buy it and put a mirror pickguard on it?
Almost certainly (If they do mirror guards) Si
14. Stunning example!! Si
15. Lots of basses with humbuckers in the neck/central position will do an approximation of a Precision. But truly, if you want a Motown sound, buy a Precision with Flats......they're common because that's how you nail the tone. Si
16. Absolutely stunning, GLWTS Si
17.
Oh my god. Sibob... here it is
Do it!! Sell that Monarch Si
18. Why would you put the sound difference down to one being MIM & one being MIA? You're comparing a Precision to a Jazz, the P will always be deeper and fuller! Plus, yes, DI will always sound thinner compared to a mic'd cab, never record just with a DI.......unless you have a really nice tube DI. But still, I'd want some cab to mix in! Si
19. Hi all, < Focusrite representative hat on > Has anyone here purchased a Scarlett Studio or iTrack Studio package? (with the Interface, Mic & Headphones) If so, have you had any issues with the Mic clip breaking? More specifically the tightening screw shearing off? If so, please contact me asap as I would like to get hold of your broken clip assuming you have all the parts available. If you have not received one already, you would obviously receive a new clip. This is a long-shot I know, but would help. Many thanks Simon // Focusrite Technical Support
20.
If only they were on Spotify
Just buy the albums Si
21. Plus any song by Tool (Aenima (1996) -present) Si
22.
Thanks for the link to the interview. He's an amazing player, and it's quite scary when you see him, no denying who's son he is. I was a little disappointed with the Yelllow jackets album though.
I know what you mean about the YellowJackets album, but I think that's just the vibe of the group. I came to that album after listening to Felix in the Social Experiment and the Mu'Tet, which are both a lot more progressive and to my tastes. Thanks for reading guys Si
23.
