1. First thing I spotted lol. Meh, I dunno, at any price point I don't expect 'errors', those Sires look pretty flawless for the same money. Tbh, I'd stick to that really nice Corvette you got man! Si
2. My OCD can't get past the bridge placement not being in the centre of the tone-block......or matching up with the width of the neck. It will be interesting to see what the general fit and finish is like, the nut looks messy, however could just be shine/bad photos. I wonder what the inside cavity looks like And yes, the control layout is............silly Si
3. If money or size is no object, then get the Strymon Big Sky, there's nothing touching that thing at all, stunning sounds. However I imagine real-estate and money IS a factor, and so I'd still go HOF or anything Mr Black Si
4. Did anyone win anything? I got my hands on the COG Tarkin Si
5. I love seeing 66s on boards!! I always feel like a proud half-parent Si
6. Based on my gfs Nano with pedals on (I've not populated the Warwick yet), not much room at all. You might be able to squeeze stuff in, but I wouldn't count on retaining your pedal settings lol. If you want a cable/strap pocket, I'd consider the Mini sized board (or the new PT Nano+), which has an extra pocket on the bag. Si
7. You'll need to use your ears man, again, never heard of someone using the a POG in their FX loop. Also remember that the FX Loop will be after your pedals effectively, what if you prefer the sound of some of the loop pedals BEFORE the pedals on the board?! Si
8.
Thanks all for your comments on this - I think I just had epiphany#2 as follows: 'Bare bones' pedal board (Tuner/Comp/Pre-AmpDI) will go inbetween Bass and Amp (Bass==>Pedals==>Amp). I can run board number 2 (POG, Muff PI, Chorus, Env Filter) on the FX send/return loop of my Amp. This means no messing about with cables on either pedal board - I just pull out whichever one I need at the time. It's good to talk!
Hmmmm, I dunno man. Check to see if you amp expects a line level in it's send/return. No-one ever has run a Fuzz in their amps FX loop lol. My guitarist used to run his delay pedal in his FX loop....not sure why. Si
9. So, it's clearly from the same factory. The bag is exactly the same, however the PT is a tiny but more substantial, chunkier feet and slightly thicker frame. That said, at this size, I can't imagine that making any difference. PT is on the left, Warwick on the right: I purchased this from Hot Rox, Thomann was marginally cheaper but big-up Hot Rox. Si
10.
Out of interest how would people compare the meatbox to the sub octaves on the pog2? I have a pog and was gonna get a meatbox but if the -2 Oct is similar then there may be no need...?
I don't think it's going to compare. The Meatbox isn't really about it being low from an 'octave' point of view, more that it's sub frequencies are heavily boosted. I've not tried a POG2, but if the Micro POG is anything to go by, the Meatbox will absolutely destroy it To be fair, there's not a great deal that comes close to the Meatbox, some say that the Aguilar Octomiser does a good impression, but it's too clean for my liking. The Mantic Density Hulk is probably the closest (ignoring their Beef Bag clone), but again, it's different to the Meatbox slightly. Si
11. I think the only niggling down I have on this, is the burst doesn't carry onto the belly cut (i.e. it's all black), looks strange to my eyes. But that really is *TRYING* to find an issue with it lol, it wouldn't stop me from buying one. I wonder how much a different scale length would be be Si
12. Should arrive today, so will give initial thoughts, then a comparison with the PT Nano tonight. Si
13. There is, of course, a lot of options available to you at this budget, however the rest of your 'spec' screams ACG Si
14.
Personally I don't think I'd ever use more than 2, but it allows me to switch them around. Another cool thing is that the carry bags zip together so you don't have to take them apart to transport them
They may be completely solid, but I agree, I think their main business will be people who use two of them probably. Si
15. I've just ordered a Warwick Rockboards Solo, they essentially look exactly like Pedaltrain Nano, but for a few pound less. I'm assuming exactly same factory etc. Will report back, I also have a Pedaltrain Nano that I can compare it directly to. Si
16. The Stompblox system looks interesting, although I'd want to check how sturdy (picking it up etc) the whole thing is with say 4 or 6 of them connected, full of pedals. Si
17. Yeah, I've seen lots of people use pedals over two boards, very common! Si
18. Effectively, the Meatbox gives a particular tone (mild fuzzy octave) with a 30hz sub boost. You could approximate the effect of the Meatbox with an EQ (either pedal or amp) and boosting that lots at 30hz, then turn it up to gig volume. Actually don't......or at least be careful and don't blame me Si
19.
Sorry for the stupid question, but can you explain what you mean about the output being TRS to an idiot who is new to playing with effects and doesn't want to blow his rig up? =)
A standard mono instrument cable is comprised of Tip & Sleeve, a stereo cable is comprised of Tip, Ring & Sleeve. In this particular application, you can send different signals from the pedal to each part of the jack plug (with the exception of Sleeve which is always ground). And so, if you connect a standard mono instrument cable to this Meatbox, you'll get the effected signal to your amp, the Octave/dry signal is blendable via the Octave control. If you connect an 'insert cable' (google it), which is a stereo jack to 2x mono jacks, you can separate out the Wet (effected) signal, from a Dry (bass) signal. This is helpful for the meat box because it means you can send the dry signal to your amp and the effected signal to the PA (via a DI box as usual). Gives you the sub through the PA without destroying your amp Si
20. Looks lovely, has a bit of a Sadowsky vibe about it. Matches my Fender/Warmoth P/J almost exactly Si
21.
Agreed although in a MGS you're citing one of the most expensive basses in the world so your examples are a little rarefied. I saw the MGS connection too and it would be great for someone to do an A/B comparison...
Well if someone buys a Volo, let me know and we can try and sort something out . The 33" B examples were ACG basses, probably circa £1500 new. Si
22. It's always nice to see newcomers to the field, but I think Pedaltrain have this sewn up at the moment. The Pedaldecks guys above look interesting, but again, probably a third of the size choices that Pedaltrain offer. Great to buy 'British' if they have the size you want, but if not? Si
23. BBOT bridge that came from a Fender Japan body. 7/10 condition, works perfectly fine, but I think some height adjustment screws are replaced as some are taller than others. £10 plus £2 postage. Cheers Si
24.
Ha! We'd do one any colour if you were prepared to wait 40 days.
Oh really? Interesting prospect! Si
25.
Potentially but it might take some nut & neck adjustment, set-up and experimentation with string gauges to get that low 'B' intonated and ringing properly. Getting a good low 'B' is a challenge on a 34" scale bass let alone 33".
Oh I'm not sure about that, I've played a few 33" basses that have great B strings, mostly ACGs to be fair. I imagine the restricting factor may be the frets, if they're as small as my MGS (which the Volo is modelled on to a degree), then having anything thicker than a .125 B string would probably just choke out. Si
