1. Will be fitting a set of Crash Magnetic Tranducer P pickups to a project body sometime next week, what exactly do i need to fit under them? Obviously old fenders have a brass plate and some foam, so models just have foam, some have nothing?! The pickups themselves are not 'gooped' into the covers in anyway, so guessing I'll need some foam at the very least to hold everything in place. What's neccessary do you think? Cheers Si
2. Hi guys, Just tidied the thread a little to get it back on track, sure you understand Lets get the picture of the bass back, am intrigued Si
3.
That's a genuine "first world problem" there Si if ever I heard one. Spend £6k on a bass and ignore one of the strings :-)
Haha, you know what I mean .....find it easier to get to grips with than a Low B 5 is my point Si
4.
That is lush. I play 5's less than 50% of the time so can't really justify the purchase, but that is truly lovely. GLWTS.
It's funny, I don't really consider it a 5, as the business end is just a low E rather than a low B getting in the way. It's easier to 'ignore' the high C if it's not appropriate for your gig Si
5.
part of me was hoping you'd say the whammy sounded like the POG ok, cool - something to probably check out then. Harmony settings, maybe with delay, is what tempts me - still tempted to try an EQD pitch bay, just for pedal size considerations!!!
I had a Pitch Bay for a short time, didn't think much of it. Digital sounding (unsurprising perhaps, it's digital), but also kinda difficult to use with precision. I'd probably look at the Bass Whammy if I needed any pitching needs again! Si

Oh it's only a Trooper Boost to put on a mini board for me. I figure pink enclosure, pink knob, pink wiring. If it goes well, I'll do a little run in October for Breast Cancer awareness That said, I hate working with 1590a, so we'll see how my patience work out haha. Could always up to a 1590B Si

Enclosure has arrived and is great quality. The standard 'orange skin' texture that you find on all powder coats, but it's even and without any imperfections. Will definitely be using these guys again! Will post the finished pedal when built. Si
8.
Hmmmm can I hang around here and sulk? Would it be worth selling everything I own for a fodera? If a "one bass to rule them all" exists, would it be one of these? I have to admit I'm a bit marmite about them. Sometimes I drool over the MGS and AJ Presentation models. Other times I think they're just a peculiar shape. But expensive to take a punt on one! Although they seem to sell on the pre loved market too. Maybe one day.....
There is a difficulty here that I think a lot of people have an expectation of every Fodera bass to absolutely blow their socks off....which simply isn't going to happen. Regardless of how well any bass is made, it's not going to talk to everyone. As such I'd always be wary of buying someone else's custom build if you're unsure about a spec that suits you. Either order a custom with a spec that you have experimented with before, or check out the Fodera standard series basses. These mean you can order a bass knowing exactly what it will feel like, but it still being a hand-built instrument, which is what I did. Si
9. Hi guys, As part of the Herts Bash, we're looking to organise a 'Photo Booth' setup. This will involve a photographer who is donating their time, coming to take photos of your basses, or yourself with your bass. What I'm interested in, is what you'd expect or like to result from this setup. In my mind, it would be more interesting to come away with a couple of photos of me with my bass that I can use on social media, but perhaps others would simply prefer nice photos of their instrument? Let me know. Please also let us know if this appeals to you, so I can figure out numbers and start thinking about allocating slots over the time we have. Many thanks Si
10. He had Pino when I saw him a couple of years ago, although would surprise me if Questlove comes out, last time he had Chris Dave. That show was great, but a bit disjointed. I think the Vanguard shows will be a lot more cohesive! Si
11. Stunning Michele, trying a MGS S1 caused me to order an S2! Will get some decent photos up asap! Si
12. I've looked at Eternals website and I just prefer the look of the Limelights. No-ones ever said a bad word about them, look at the 'Show us your Limelight' thread, lots of inspiration there. Si
13. Change of clothing, touch of class I think! (Clear scratchplate in case it's not obvious) Thanks Pestie! Si
14. Get a limelight! Simples Si
15. My technique is exactly the same as Tom Ks above, a sort if hybrid of the full FT, essentially using your thumb to mute what isn't muted by your plucking fingers. I've certainly (naturally) found that to be the best for me live. It's interesting to note that there are plenty of players who don't use FT at all and have impeccable muting, check out John Pattitucci on his 6 string. It's about what works for you and gives you the cleanest notes! Many players obviously now use string dampeners around their bass neck, certainly not a replacement for good technique, but every little helps Si
16. Do you get the issue when you simply use your bass into it, then Into your amp? Same problem with different basses? Si
17. Oooof, great price! I'll leave the Stingray experts to ask any questions regarding providence, however looks lovely and a YOB bass for me, although I'll be resisting this time Good luck Si
18. Yeah I was looking around for a while for a nice short-scale, considered the Squier VM Jaguar short scale. But when I was reminded of these, it seemed like the perfect middle-ground Si p.s. Edited the picture to sit up the right way. Go home TinyPic, you were drunk!
19. That's pretty clean, very nice Si

Hi all, If of interest, just found this place on eBay that actually does some interesting enclosure finishes in the UK: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Aluminium-DieCast-POWDER-COATED-Hammond-STYLE-Enclosure-Stomp-Vape-Box-colours-/251946723905?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&var=&hash=item3aa931ea41 I have a pink 1590a on the way for a build for myself, and to check quality etc. Si
21. From what I gather there aren't many of them them about, and I don't think they're a current model (couldn't spot it on Fender Japan website). So moving forward, they'll possibly become sought-after, especially seeing as it was a Japan-only model. Very cool though, needs a little setup for my tastes, but think it's going to fit the bill a treat. Was looking for a short-scale for a while, for the above reasons as well as my Mrs wanting something to gig every now and then (she's primarily a guitarist). Very happy with it Si
22. I haven't got any scales handy, but it's definitely no more than 8.5lbs. Si
23. So not quite on the same scale as the Fodera from an 'event' point of view, but still excited to get hold of this! I fancied a more transportable bass (overseas gigs etc), but also a 4 string which was kind of a Fender equivalent of the Foderas 33" scale, ie easy to pickup and play after getting used to the MGS. So here it is from Oggy on here! A Japanese Fender Jazz 32". It has a rear routed unused battery box, so may experiment with a preamp. Pickups are Dimarzio Areas Js, which I've not had before. Very cool dinky little thing Cheers Si
24. Yup floating thumb ftw!! I also employ my fretting hand for muting too, remember you're generally only playing one note at a time....you've three spare fingers to lay across strings there Si
25. That whole bass looks like lava!! Very cool! I'm intrigued by those pickups from Alan, although I just didn't get on with the filter pre when I had a Finn......for me there just too many options haha. Very powerful in the right hands though! Enjoy! Si
