So we'd like to try and get more along to the Herts Bass Bash (thread in the events forum). What kind of events/discussions/demonstrations etc are people interested in seeing at this (or any) bass bash? What floats your boat at bass events? Secondly, for my information, if you are attending, or thinking about it, this year, what (if any) pedals and effects specific gear/talks/demonstrations are you interested in hearing/playing with. Bashs are out on by members for members, so it's important to get a dialogue going to see what people are interesting in seeing Many thanks Si

I'd probably go with a Mac (MacBook or Mac Pro), using Reaper, Logic or Pro Tools (Reaper if you're on a Budget......i.e. free). I would personally stay clear of PCs (nightmare for Firewire/Thunderbolt cards), especially if you're looking to use Pro Tools (nightmare), and if I had to use PC, I'd stick with Cubase. Si

Yup, the Octoplus is a really good sounding pedal, and as you mention......cheap. It's not as subby as the OC-2, although it certainly does a good impression of it. For me, it kinda comes down to the bad DOD footswitches of that era. If you're very considered and only use it a few times in a set, then sure. However if you want to stomp on it and use it a lot......it's going to let you down WAY before the OC-2 will . I've not tried the OC-2 clones like the Chord etc, however if Spencer at 3Leaf can't entirely nail the OC-2 tone (again the Octabvre is less subby), then I'm guessing Chord can't But, if an Octoplus costs you £40....I'd still pay £20 more and get an OC-2 Si

[/quote] A good example of this would be when a drummer takes a solo, if it's a good band/good players, the drummer should be able to do whatever he likes with the timing and the band will retain time via the pulse in their heads. I saw Steve Smith solo with Vital Information once, his solo consisted of playing the same beat but gradually slowing down....the band carried on at tempo. He then gradually sped up, matched time with them, and continued to speed up whilst they again retained time. That was pure exercise as to how good their internal time was whilst Smith did whatever the hell he wanted with it. It was a bit of a head-trip Si

Just treat yourself and buy a Boss OC-2. The Taiwan ones can be had for around £60 on eBay and it's all you'll ever want!! Si

I agree, probably a dodgy/dry solder joint somewhere. If there's noise and no bass sound, there's a signal path joint at issue probably. If there's bass sound AND noise, probably a ground joint. Si

I had the problem where the button would stick when I had my S1 Jazz, fortunately it just stuck in the 'series' mode, so I just forgot about it and left it lol. Eventually it was an easy fix. Si

I played around with the idea of a P5 after I sold my J5. Settled on a Yamaha P/J 5, although still think I'd like a nice P5. Si
