I assumed no such thing. I just said I don't like show off bass players. Again, same thing. Where did I say he can't groove? I just don't like show off....... oh forget it! You're right I'm wrong. There, happy? Sorry all for having an opinion that isn't the same as yours.
Certainly not trying to state that i'm right and you're wrong, would never want anyone to think that. I'm simply struggling to understand the thinking behind not liking 'show off bassists' (whatever that means, obviously it's subjective though), but leaving your conclusion of them there, without considering asking them about the other side of what they do given the opportunity of the show, no malicious meant, no stress. It'd be great to have lots and lots of players at the event, but the reality is there's a few spaces I guess. Maybe next year for the guys you mention I'd personally love to see Pino and Justin Chancellor, but hey, we can but hope Si
I'd just like to see some more bassists from bands tell us about their approach to songs. Why are there no guys like Cass Lewis, Michael McKeegan, Duff, Nicky Wire, Jason Newsted etc. If I have to hear Stu Hamm do that country and western tap thing he ALWAYS puts in his solos for the last 30 years I'm going to lose my mind! (Although I will admit to learning it!)
You're missing my point, you think that Hamm has never written a song, or played a bassline on a pop song? Ask him about it, I'm almost certain that he'd prefer to answer that than some kid who asks 'how do you tap metal?' Si

Sweet, didn't see Jah last time, so looking forward to it! With regards to the above comment of "They're all show-off players"? Very odd. Divinity, Jah Wobble, Steve Lawson, Ethan Farmer. I wouldn't call any of these players show-offs, can they show-off? Sure, because they're asked to at a bass show, do they earn the bulk of their income showing off, definitely not. I'd probably even argue that for Sheehan & Hamm too, sure they can show off, they get booked for the firework shredding etc, but they'll be the first to say that it's all silly and just for fun. If all you see from a life-time of work is what people upload on Youtube from gear shows, maybe you should attend to actually hear what they're about? Si
Nice one - you old romantic, you.
It was great success Si
I decided to put my Madbean Afterlife into a 1950a enclosure. I replaced the Ghostnote mod with the original resister as that's where I'd found it to sound best anyway. I also tried to make a neater wiring job after seeing Si's work.....
Looking great, 1590a projects are so satisfying when they come off lol Si

Slightly different from me here. My gf plays guitar, and when she joined a band, asked if she could borrow an overdrive pedal and a tuner. I had the first ever pedal I built (a Gainster clone) hanging around in a drawer, so after taking it apart and tightening everything up to my current standards (plus write/paint a ropey design on it, the Feist was born), and gifting her an old TU-2, she was up and running. Eventually she then wanted something with more gain and also a chorus pedal......and something to put them on . So for her birthday tomorrow, I have purchased a Pedal Train Nano from a member here, built her a Rat clone for her grittier needs, and purchased a little Chorus pedal too. The Chorus is great, £26.99 and essentially the same pedal as the Mooer Ensemble King and in the same enclosure as the new Godlyke mini pedals. Ah the beauty of multi-brand Chinese manufacturing. The patch cables I ordered didn't come in time for tomorrow, but they'll be smaller and tidier. Power is just daisy-chained from the tuner for now, she may update to an under-board power supply at some point perhaps. This will be popped in the pedal train carry case, wrapped up and she'll open it tomorrow Si

I forgot to take a photo and my mate has it now Was fairly tidy, ever since I discovered solid core cables.....changed my world. There's a few posts within this thread where I have some guts pictures from my Poultone Boosts etc, nice and neat Edit: Here's one of my boosts, the Em-Drive had one more board-mount pot, but actually fewer components. Same cabling fundamentally though: Si

Built a quick EM-Drive clone for a friend, Fuzz Dog PCB, nice and easy, sounds fine (for a light guitar Overdrive). Stencilled a Bear on it.......cos he likes Bears mainly: Si
Is there anyone on here fancies looking at a Fuzzrocious Dark Driving that doesn't seem to be playing right for me please?
Whats up with it? (as best as you can describe) PM me of you'd like Si
Its more the muscles in the forearm that are the problem, but I'll keep an eye on it.
That really is just conditioning/practice But technique can have an effect on it too, perhaps some photos of your current technique, or even a video of your plucking hand playing the song, would help people make suggestions. Going to a good teacher will also do you the world of good Si
A Fender stand would have been much better.
Why? I was at the show for the first year and Fender a big stand in the middle of the floor, they bought along their new Bass Amps, so a few big tube stacks, and then just the new American Vintage range, so about 3 Precisions and 3 Jazz Basses or so. There might have been a few other bits and pieces, but no more than what Bass Direct or others had on their stands really. Si
Very much of the opinion that you use it or lose it. It is the only bass specific show in the UK it deserves to be supported even if there are a couple of perceived problems.
Exactly, want more exhibitors there next year? Come along and support the show this year and perhaps the numbers will persuade the exhibitors to turn up next year? If you're not fussed about supporting the show, why should an exhibitor turn up for you not to be there? In any case, exhibitors aside, its a great opportunity to meet some lovely people and maybe learn a thing or two! Si

Also interested in peoples thoughts on this as I'm going mid-April with my Mrs. Congrats by the way Dropzone Si
Now I'm looking at getting the DOD Bifet as a way of giving some deep boost through choruses now and then.
I have one for sale Si

Ryan @ Fuzzrocious is seriously one of the good guys, so glad this is looking like it will blow up for him. MXR make great stuff, with a great staff behind them, hopefully this will also put a load of people onto Fuzzrocious. Si

Can I just add though, all my basses sound amazing on their own through the 3Leaf Enabler headphone amp! P-bass included (think mine came 3rd or 4th in the blind test ). Fantastic pedal that Enabler! Si
-
Yup, unless you plan on having a successful music career playing through a headphone amp Into your headphones, I'd suggest you don't have a problem . Si
-
Love the idea, and the angle is cool, but I'd have to be convinced about the plastic lol. Imagine hitting a pedal and crunching through the board Could be great if it's strong though! Si

At this point I wouldn't worry about send/return, I would say that 99% of what you read about in the effects forum will be 'inline', meaning that you bass goes into your pedalboard, and the pedalboard output goes to your amp input. True bypass: Essentially this is how the signal travels through the pedal when it is 'off'. A true bypass pedal, when off, travels straight from the input to the output, it doesn't touch the circuitry. The opposite, referred to as a buffered pedal (all Boss, Digitech, most EHX & some boutique), the signal will still travel through some elements of the circuitry even when off. That's not to say you hear the effect when the pedal is 'off', just that the 'clean' signal still flows through some circuitry. There are pros and cons for both, which is a hold different kettle of beans. As an example, your Boss ODB-3 is buffered (not true bypass), your Wren & Cuff is true bypass. With regards to what you should use pedal wise, I'd say keep it super simple to start with. If you have no songs etc, go in with no pedals, then when you have something to work with, you can decide what colours to add to your tone. If you know it's rock, maybe take the Hartke for some overdrive/grind, if you know it's chilled and ambient, take the delay. But further than that, go simple and develop the sound later. Si
On listening to it, my ears hear the key change at the first chord of the bridge. You could, however, view the bridge section in terms of the key of E major - the D chord would be labelled 'b7 major' (rather than #6) which is a really common non-diatonic chord that crops up in a bunch of pop, rock and soul tunes. All of the bridge chords can be analysed in terms of either E major or A major, so for me the debate as to exactly where the key change happens is an aural one.
Cheers bud, I'd be inclined to agree with you, the aural change for me happens at the D, but I also noticed the compatibility between the chords used in the bridge between the two keys, hence wondering about if there was a definitive 'rule' on it Thanks for the input, especially about the b7major Si
