If perhaps you mean from a playing point of view, the way the neck heal is built you really don't notice it at all (unless you hang your thumb over the fingerboard a lot). [/quote] .....it's a stock MGS, you can't change any of the specs of the Standard series, which suits me as the series 1 I tried (this is a series 2), was brilliant. The spec in terms of measurements and electronics is exactly the same between the two series, just the wood combinations that differ. [/quote] Exactly, I certainly wouldn't ever suggest that Fodera are THE BEST because they're expensive, it just so happened that this bass spoke to me and it was a Fodera. I was lucky to be able to fund it purely by selling gear that I had purchased over a number of years. So a little while ago I took a trip to Bass Gear in order to buy a Mono case for my 33" ACG 5 (high c). I took the ACG along, and whilst there decided to try some basses.....as you do. Now like most people, I have previously played some Foderas, and they haven't really 'spoken' to me. However on that day I picked up a Matt Garrison Standard, a 33" 5 tuned E-C, essentially the same basic spec as my ACG. The difference is that the Fodera blew the ACG out of the water....... Here I feel that I must state that ACG instruments are superb, and the Finn SC that I had was excellent, but on this occasion, the Fodera, to me, felt in a different class. I am certain many people have said that of ACGs about other boutique brands....... In any case, trying the MGS threw me, I never expected to genuinely feel that a bass was worth that kind of money, but here it was. I set myself a challenge, could I raise the funds by selling only musical gear that I had acquired over the years?! The answer, perhaps worryingly, was yes. By culling basses, amps and pedals that I rarely (if ever) played, I raised the full amount and so ordered the MGS. So, here it is, yes I will take more pictures as I get time, the grain on the top is beautiful, all sorted in there! Alongside my '71 Precision, I intend for this to be my equal 'main' bass. I also consider it very much a study bass, with the high c allowing me to further explore chords and deeper harmony that a 4 allows. The Fender S1 switch was a push button in the end of the volume control, it switched the two pickups from parallel to series, so effectively treated both pickups as one, rather spaced out, Precision pickup. I had a Fender Jazz with the S1 and almost exclusively played it in series mode, also has the benefit of one volume control (the bridge pickup volume becomes redundant in series). So, you can either hard-wire a Jazz in series, or wire a switch in that gives you the option to go back to parallel. Si

You're probably fine as you have a short cable into your board, but with 8 pedals, if you add up those patch cables, you might have another 3ft of cabling perhaps, you you at consider trying a buffer at the start of the 8 chain. But then again, if it sounds good to you, it is good Si

I'd probably go for the Corona as it has a LOT of toneprints available. If I ever replace my Boss CE-2B, it'll be with a Corona I think, or possibly a Mr Black chorus. Si

I've been using Alpha 3PDT from Banzai for the last few builds. I much prefer them, less of a heavy clunk than the standard blue ones. Si

Let's assume that your pedal board is fully true bypass (so no Boss pedals etc). If you run your passive instrument via a long cable into your pedalboard, then I'd put a buffer at the start. If you run 3-4 pedals, you're probably not going to need a buffer really unless you're using the aforementioned long instrument cable. If you're running a short cable from your instrument into 12 pedals, I'd pop a buffer in the middle or the end. If you're running a long cable into a pedalboard of lots of pedals, I'd have one at the start and one at the end. Bear in mind that some pedals (most notably Fuzz Face based fuzz pedals HATE a buffered signal fed to them (hence why they don't work well with active instruments). Also have in mind that if you use any Boss pedals (there are others, DOD, some EHX, some boutique, B7K), basically buffered pedals, these work as your buffer, you don't need a little boutique buffer taking up extra space. A Boss tuner at the start (or wherever you need it as above) will usually do the trick. Si

POG has a really good Octave up in my opinion, but it's octave down lacks any kind of body. It pales in comparison against the OC-2 (forget the OC-3). If you have space on your board, OC-2 for lows, then wait for the new smaller POG Nano for your octave up needs. Si

Yup, made the request and they reposted them for me . Will get these into Eagle when I'm back from holiday next week. If I get a decent PCB made up, there will be a minimum of 3 pedals out of this little experiment, so maybe 2 up for grabs . I'll probably make it easy on myself and try for PCB mounted pots, so probably looks at a 125b or 1590bb enclosure, but with top-mounted jacks. I've no wish spending hours trying to get it as small as possible haha Si

I bought a Warmoth Jazz neck from their shop stock (so not a custom build). Not quite rosewood, but Pau Ferro fingerboard & the steel stiffening rods. It is on the chunky side for a Jazz, but I like it as I usually play a Precision, and they do offer a slim option if necessary. I haven't really noticed the weight of the rods, but I do have Ultralite tuners on it, so that probably offsets the weight. Remember they do the graphite rod option too, much lighter but more money. I must say that it's a lovely neck! Plays beautifully. Si

I'm only holding off from the Fuzzdog kit because of the size of that switch pot.....so much higher than the standard controls! Si
