I keep eyeing up these P5s, I don't play much low B, but the odd gig comes in that requires it so I like having a cheap one handy. I currently have a Yamaha BB 615 that I picked up for £180......so can't really moan at that. If that wasn't about, would buy one of these P5s tonight! Si

Fitted a set to my Yamaha BB 5-string, great strings although I didn't quite get on with the tension, I actually prefer the tension of the standard Dunlop set which i've got on my P/J 4 Si

I'm simply struggling to understand the thinking behind not liking 'show off bassists' (whatever that means, obviously it's subjective though), but leaving your conclusion of them there, without considering asking them about the other side of what they do given the opportunity of the show, no malicious meant, no stress. It'd be great to have lots and lots of players at the event, but the reality is there's a few spaces I guess. Maybe next year for the guys you mention I'd personally love to see Pino and Justin Chancellor, but hey, we can but hope Si

Sweet, didn't see Jah last time, so looking forward to it! With regards to the above comment of "They're all show-off players"? Very odd. Divinity, Jah Wobble, Steve Lawson, Ethan Farmer. I wouldn't call any of these players show-offs, can they show-off? Sure, because they're asked to at a bass show, do they earn the bulk of their income showing off, definitely not. I'd probably even argue that for Sheehan & Hamm too, sure they can show off, they get booked for the firework shredding etc, but they'll be the first to say that it's all silly and just for fun. If all you see from a life-time of work is what people upload on Youtube from gear shows, maybe you should attend to actually hear what they're about? Si

Slightly different from me here. My gf plays guitar, and when she joined a band, asked if she could borrow an overdrive pedal and a tuner. I had the first ever pedal I built (a Gainster clone) hanging around in a drawer, so after taking it apart and tightening everything up to my current standards (plus write/paint a ropey design on it, the Feist was born), and gifting her an old TU-2, she was up and running. Eventually she then wanted something with more gain and also a chorus pedal......and something to put them on . So for her birthday tomorrow, I have purchased a Pedal Train Nano from a member here, built her a Rat clone for her grittier needs, and purchased a little Chorus pedal too. The Chorus is great, £26.99 and essentially the same pedal as the Mooer Ensemble King and in the same enclosure as the new Godlyke mini pedals. Ah the beauty of multi-brand Chinese manufacturing. The patch cables I ordered didn't come in time for tomorrow, but they'll be smaller and tidier. Power is just daisy-chained from the tuner for now, she may update to an under-board power supply at some point perhaps. This will be popped in the pedal train carry case, wrapped up and she'll open it tomorrow Si
