1.
Apparently, on more than one occasion someone had then gone away and sold all their basses to fund the purchase of the Fodera they had just played.
Dammit.......I'm stereotype Si
2.
Si, if you're in Slough you are welcome for a cup of tea and a fiddle
An ideal evening in my books! Will try and sort something out over that way Cheers bud. The La Bella Low Tensions felt great on the Precision I had a quick play on, but as mentioned, the the TI's have more options for gauges. Cheers Si
3. Treat yourself to a pre-Christmas/Sunday present Si
4. Hey all, I have an Allpartd Fretless Precision neck which was sourced/modded by Bass Doc and is a joy to play. Maple with ebony fingerboard, lines which are slightly fading in places as they are painted, not wood slips. There is some wear from the round-wind strings, but nothing that effects playability in anyway, there's a reason I chose an ebony board, hard as nails . Re-profiled and finished (slight vintage tint) by Howard. It has a 60's era Fender Precision logo, and includes nut & string tree and reverse 'Kluson' style tuners, make unknown however working perfectly. Anyone looking to convert to a Precision necked fretless? This is an excellent place to start! As mentioned, there is some wear on the fingerboard from the round-wound strings, however it's barely noticeable when running your fingers over it, and certainly doesn't effect playability when strung. It actually looks worse in the photos because the light is catching it: SOLD Cheers Si
5. I had a similar experience to a few people, thought they looked great, understood that they're boutique and high-end, but never played one that made me go "oh wow"............until last week. As someone else mentioned in the thread, I got surprised by a Fodera that I just didn't want to put down, it made me want to play more than I already did! That's the point where you go, "I'd actually pay this money for this bass"! Si
6. I tuned C, F, Bb, Eb for years.....forget gauge, it's all about core size. I used Newtone 45-105 and got an action and tension similar to that of a standard tunes bass. Why? Because it was a larger core. Granted you can't then tune up to standard, but I was touring in that tuning, so wasn't necessary. Si
7. Still a whole bunch of pedals left! .......good stuff too, it isn't a 'all the popular stuff has gone first' deal here. Si
8. I haven't weighed it yet, I'm taking an educated guess in the early 9lbs range That said, the bass is currently sold pending payment. Cheers Si
9. Well Phil & Jass this is the perfect bass for you guys Si
10. Hi guys, Interested in the opinion of guys who have specifically used both the new La Bella Low Tension flats as well as any flats in Thomastics range. I ask because I've historically never liked the tension of flats, but trying the La Bellas was a bit of a revelation. However their options in gauges are prohibitive, for those who have tried, how do Thomastics flats compare from a tension point of view? Many thanks Si
11. Good stuff, I've updated the database Si
12. You can string it through body or standard through bridge. Lots of interest so far.....which is great.....but feel free to spread it over the other basses I'm selling too Cheers Si
13. Hi guys, Here is my 2003 Fender USA Jazz bass, the first Fender I owned. It's been through a lot, is heavily gigged, and is the bass I took with me to Wooten Woods earlier this year. Yes it's been played in front of Victor Wooten, Steve Bailey, Felix Pastorius, Anthony Wellington etc Anyway, its a brilliant bass, however it does have plenty of wear, dings and chips etc. Obviously full pictures asap, but all the wear is honest play wear from a LOT of gigs and I believe the price is reflective of this. That said, it plays and sounds great. The biggest patch of wear is the lower bout on the rear. This is down to the wood and exposing the black paint that Fender paint around the edges of their basses to make the blacks.....well....blacker I guess. Hopefully the photo shoes this. This model has the graphite reinforcement rods in the neck, the S1 switch (actually useful on the Jazzes, not so much the Precisions). 60's spaced pickups. Fairly light (weight pending). The tort plate is a replacement official Fender, as the original was white and horrible, as such there is a couple of screw holes that don't have corresponding holes in the body. There is one screw missing from the scratch plate unfortunately, and a couple could do with replacing as looking a bit rusty/discoloured. It can be supplied with a basic gig-bag or a padded Ritter bag for an extra £10. As such, collection or meet up only on this in/near High Wycombe / Welwyn Garden City / London. No trades (Sorry about some of the orientations, TinyPic is working its wonders) Thanks Si
14. Haha, I hear you, I'm on a 4 out - 1 in trip It is a cool bass though, a LOT of bass for the money. Cheers Si
15. Hey bud, I do come into London a little bit, however no trades thank-you (updated the post now) Cheers Si

17. Hi guys, Up for sale is my Yamaha 615 bass in 'Old Violin Burst'. Very good condition, couple of little impacts but nothing thats easy to capture. Strung with Dunlop Super Brights. Ideal 5 string in my opinion, P/J, nice preamp, get get a good Precision and/or Jazz tone from it. Really comfortable neck, Yamaha site below with full spec/features: http://uk.yamaha.com...asses/bb/bb615/ Included is a basic gig-bag. Collection/meet-up only. No Trades Cheers Si
18. Hi guys, The cull continues Here is my 1973 Precision, serial number 424563, with OHSC. I purchased from Si (0353203) on here around a year ago. The bass weighs 8.2lbs with a beautifully playable neck (B Profile/size)..playing with a nice low action (although I've raised it a bit) plus plenty of life left in the frets. Pot codes and neck stamp both date to 1973. Plenty of life left in the truss rod. The bass shows signs of playwear, with dings / dongs etc. The body rear has some marks where the bass has been left laying on a cable (I suspect)....difficult to photo due to the colour, but worth a mention. The case is in ok condition...the latches work fine. The handle has been taped at some point and the ends have wear....as does the tolex. Still does the job, however. So overall not mint by any means, but if you are looking for a lightweight early 70s P with that classic thump and low action, this is it! Collection or meet-up (within reason) preferred. Full collection of large detailed pictures, guts, dings, disassembled, pickups, pots, neck heel, serial etc available via email upon request. £1900 Would consider a part-ex with a short scale bass, Squier Mustang, Gretsch 2220 etc Preferably not over £200 Many thanks Si
19. Hi guys, Continuing my gear cull, I've had this amp for about 8-10years, serviced by Ashdown around 4 years ago, after I stopped touring, however not really used since then. When I took it over to Ashdown for said service, they told me it was UK built and in brilliant condition internally. It has some little knocks/scuffs externally which I can try and capture if interested, but works nicely. I'll give it a good clean before it goes to a new owner Better photos are forthcoming pending some sunshine (good luck?!): SOLD Cheers Si
20. Yes I'm going to have to shift around a few ownerships on the database huh?! Si
21. I have 8 OC2s because I went a bit nuts for them, still love the pedal, nothing like it really! Did you see the serial number database I started (see effects forum). I'll be keeping 3 of the 8, so thats why the OC2s listed are a little vague right now. There are 2 Octaves for sale, but the 3 Octavers for sale will be confirmed when I decide asap. Cheers Si
