Xmas FX
I got myself a Z.Vex Sonar for Xmas! I was looking for a cool tremolo that could do hard chop andhad tap tempo but wasn't a 1 trick pony. The Sonar is amazing, the ammount of stuff you can tweak on it makes it quite versatile, and I love the multiplier on the tap tempo.
I've heard a few people say that the Sonar is a PN-2 killer , would like to A/B them. The Idiotbox Mad Dr is also a worthy contender! Si

The Behringer Synth is based on the Boss SYB-5 I think. Plenty of people like it, but I could never get a good useable/giggable sound from the Boss really. Hopefully you'll have better luck with yours Si
3. Yeah my first ever bass was the pearl white 90's Encore Precision, with the old Fender-esque headstock, rosewood fingerboard, white scratch-plate, creme pickup covers. Actually a great bass, I had it routed to take a J pickup a few years back and the Luthier confirmed it was Basswood. Did it up and sold it on here, so might still be kicking about . Here's how it ended up, just the body, scratchplate, knobs and bridge remained original: 'Mods' are Dimazrio pickups, Gotoh tuners, Allparts Jazz neck with late 70's Fender Decal Si
This was a real PITA to box.
No sh*t Amazing build, would love to see inside the box Si
5. I'm not sure how comfortable I'd be overdriving the tubes in a hybrid head......although there are tubes in the preamp, it's a whole different ball game boosting a full tube amp to overdrive! I would get a low to mid overdrive pedal rather than a clean boost. The Phat Phuk is the slight exception as its a germanium boost, so easier to get some hair out of the pedal alone. Tried the Diabolik in anger yet? My Fuzzrocious Dark Driving is in the post! Si
7. I've got the Live at the Aladdin DVD that the clip is from. WELL worth the £5 or so price!! Having said that, as much as I think Rhonda Smith is fantastic, she has the WORST fuzz sound on that gig! :-P Si
8.
Apologies for hijacking the thread but do Sansamp / BDI users put them in front of the amp or in the fx loop?
I use it parallel to my amp, bass into sansamp, sansamp DI to desk, dry out from sansamp to my amp. That way I specify my sound to the PA via the sansamp and my onstage sound via my amp. Simples. If my amp blows up, then I still have signal to FOA Si
9. It perhaps also doesn't help that the Behringer is bigger and also resembles an Early Learning Centre preamp/DI I've got a Sansamp and its fine, as people say, it's fairly coloured but in a good way IMO, certainly for live/backup use. My 3Leaf Enabler is a nicer preamp/DI, but that tends to get used for recording and practice. Si
10. Pictures into the pedal-board thread Si
11. It depends what you think sounds better. Vague answer I know, but my idea of a given order may not sound best to you. You might prefer the sound of the chorus before or after the compressor, so those are the two you'll mess with most. The tuner is usually first or last depending on whether you want to mute your bass into the pedals, or your pedals into your amp, the latter is best for noisy pedal boards. Si

So yes, my lovely gf ordered me a custom Fuzzrocious Dark Driving from Ryan :-D. It's still being painted I think, so will be delivered when it's done and built. Until then, she wrapped a self-made mock-up Si

Yes I get a lot of stuff from Steve, great guy. Waiting on some bits now as it happens, maybe after New Years now though Si

I'm not sure........I'll update tomorrow Cagey girlfriend lol Si
15. I reckon it'll be great, but might break up fairly early? Which might be suitable to you Si
16. I'd agree with Shep here, Tom's (COG) blend is the only blend I've ever liked. Too often it simply sounds like you're diluting the sound of the pedal, need to boost the effect saturation as you introduce clean signal just to have it heard. My Knightfall 66 prototype is great though, I tend to only ruin the clean blend at about 30%, but as mentioned above, it's very musical. Si
17.
No - there is a regulated power supply not shown !! I wonder if a single PP3 could power them all
Best not to find out at a gig haha Si
18. A guitarist friend has 3 of the older model Treble N Basses, loves them, runs them with the 1x15 cabs they came with . 50w may or may not be enough for you to gig with, but by god you'll have a sweet recording amp! Si
19. http://www.audiokinesis.com/product_ak_thunderchild115.html Yeah, but.....you know......$1000...... plastic corners! Si
20.
Lol, still waiting to hear it with the band, as we've had to cancel all December gigs since the guitarist has had a weird epilepsy scare.
*Shelves the strobe-light pedal idea for another year* Hope he's all good! Si
21. Or if you're feeling adventurous: http://tagboardeffects.blogspot.co.uk/2012/06/mad-professor-blueberry.html I know it's not a BJFE, but he won't build you one, you gotta look at alternatives huh Si
22. Always worth asking the question directly though huh . You never know, he might build you one.....at a premium though I guess. Si
23.
New Pedal Train Junior has allowed for a much cleaner set up. Noise floor is better all around too due to the patch cables and power cables not crossing paths so much.
You know I approve so hard! Si
24.
Ok - two signal paths, Line A EBS Bass Iq >> Boss Chorus Line B Deep Impact >> EBS Octbass >>EBS Multicomp (always on) >> Sansamp DI The black box at the back is to control the Mute and Sub on my Ashdown amp. Grey box back left is for the stage cable to/from the amp. Just realised how mucky the board is but those are the remnants of a lot of Pyros !!
How are you powering it all? Not from the LS-2 surely? Si
