1.
As most people expected, Aen and the Dwarfcraft team are the ones who have taken the Devi brand on. Those folks who make Devi pedals on licence (like Mantic who make the Hyperion) seem to have lost that right in the hand over. I have huge respect for Aen - he's a top dude and does killer work so I'm excited to see what he does for the brand!
Yeah I think a few people called it pretty much instantly. I think he'll revoke all the Devi kits too, which is a shame, but hey, gotta consolidate the brand a little perhaps! Si
  2. JMJ........love that guy! Si
My Squier Vintage Modified 4 with noname replacement maple neck; and Squier Vintage Modified V:
That Squire P5 looks very impressive, wasn't aware it existed. How is it? Si

I"m actually a bit hazy as to what the deal is with lead solder. I don't think it's illegal to use broadly speaking, however I don't believe it can be used in commercially available produce?! Maybe someone can clarify. Luckily my dad is an electronics engineer of some 40 years............so I have various supplies of decent components/tools to hand . I always socket ICs, usually socket Transistors, and sometimes socket Diodes. If you want to be super careful/experimental, socket everything you can manage Si
  5.
I'd seen this before but watched again last night, v interesting! I've been watching a few music docs recently, the iron maiden one ('flight 666') is on youtube and worth a watch, even if you don't like the band
Yeah, same with me and Metallica's Some Kind Of Monster, can't stand the band, brilliant documentary!
I'm not daunted by the wiring on this. I have already rewired a couple of my own basses, and although I'm new to building pedals, I like to think I'm technically minded enough to cope ok. Hopefully it won't be a one off thing either but I'll take it one project at a time. Thanks for the supportive replies - I'll let you know how it goes.
Get to it! Si
  7. I hate Fuzz through 10inch speakers and, as Gaz mentions, tweeters! Very interested to hear your thoughts on the Diabolik Gaz! Si
  8. Hi guys, Picked this up a little while ago on here, but haven't really used it. I'll get some pictures of the actual unit asap (it's in decent condition), but the same as this: No box or manual, but will be packed well. £35 + £3 postage (take off postage for a trade). I'm mostly interested in trades, I can make up the balance if i'm particulaly interested. Basically WHY? TRADED Si
  9. Yeah, love my M82, best filter I've tried! Good luck Si
I'm thinking about starting building my own pedals in the new year. I've seen a BYOC bass overdrive http://buildyourownc...soverdrive.html and I'm wondering if anyone here has built one of these? The You Tube demo sounds ok. I love the blend feature, that's a must for me. Or, any suggestions for anything similar? Bearing in mind, this is my first attempt. Cheers.
I believe that kit is essentially an Xotic BB Pre with a blend feature (I've never felt the need for a Blend with that circuit). 5 knobs worth of offboard wiring could be enough to put you off for life haha. As such, I'd suggest starting with something like a clean boost or a Fuzz Face, just to get you into the swing of it, only 1 or 2 knobs worth of wiring (sometimes even on-board pots mmmmmmm). Having said that, if you're literally just talking about a one-off because you want a bass drive......go for it, patience are a must though Good luck Si
  11. There was also a fair amount of low end coming from the Compacts ports that wasn't getting picked up by the mic. The BDPG has a ton of low-end on the tone knob too. I preferably wanted to record the audio into Logic, but I've misplaced the adapter for my interface, so had to make do with the USB cardioid Si
  12. Cheers bud See for me, the combo is RT & BDPG, 3:30 sounds lush to my ears Si
  13.
Nice one Si ! Much appreciated. I particularly liked the Demon on it's own right near the start. Is that a standard Demon ? I don't remember my old Demon King sounding quite like that.
Hey bud, Yeah completely stock/standard Demon I think it was low-gain at the start of the vid. If it makes a difference, I played the bass part with a pick (not my strong-point), but if you're a fingers player like I am 90% of the time, it's going to sound less grindy. Si
  14. There you go Listen through decent headphones/speakers please! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WSL9jALcHNk Si
  15. I agree, it's much braver of someone to hold their hands up in the face of a mistake and admit it. Unfortunately in this case, simply due to the scope of the 'mis-management', I think it will be very difficult indeed to pay everyone back. This of course then continues to reflect badly on her despite her self-proclaimed good intentions. I hope that everyone involved gets back what they deserve Si
  16.
Never really liked anything with mosfet clipping, inparticular the fulltone bass drive.
Yeah I wouldn't have MOSFET as my initial choice, but I can make it work, and my Demon does sound awesome. Given the choice, I use LEDs, or certainly that's what I'm running my GS (asymmetric LEDs), RT, Cog 66 etc. Interestingly, the Rat I built with clipping options sounds better low-gain with no diodes selected, and better in high-gain with LEDs. Si
  17.
Without getting weird as I know nothing of devi ever until Fuzzrocious posted it on FB. Is she a he or was a he and is now a she.
He is a pre-op she Si
  18. What's the legal status of sites like that? Technically theft? Si
  19. I've never really had any dealings with Devi, she seems to have produced some well loved pedals. It's apparently all over, largely due to her mis-management of the donations from her (ambitious?) FX console kickstarter: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/deviever/console-ii-cartridge-based-multi-fx-guitar-pedal/posts/683655 Who do we think has taken on Devi Ever FX? I'm plumping for Dwarfcraft Si
  20. Noted I've not tried an OCD, but I know the Demon has more gain to it. Ryan has also built a few LED clipping Demon's which come out slightly less compressed and a bit more lairy than the MOSFET clipping. p.s. Do you play with pick or fingers? Si
  21.
Final two versions, with sweet Wengé & Zebrano and a slightly fatter body model. This is where I will stop. This is my dreambass.
Very cool Warwick do have a custom-shop you know Si
  22. I'll do my best to do all 4 then, BDPG, RT, Demon & GS Si
  23. Good job I've got a Rat Tail as well then huh Si
