DS-1 & B3K are utterly different circuits. You're best bet is to shift on the DS-1 and buy a B3K Si
I am getting this for my Nano 'fly away board' It means I do not need to remember to take a UK to EU converter which IME aren't the best at remaining plugged in throughout a gig.
Ummm, but what what if you need to charge it overseas? :-/ Si
  3. Pretty sure Nolly in Peripery uses Fractal FX live, in fact the whole band does. Think they record using pedals (Nolly loves the B7K famously) and then program those sounds into the Fractal for live. Nolly is also a guitarist, so might be the right guy to reach out to for an opinion (and maybe a Fractal contact) Si
  4.
Si, there's a good explanation here! There's also this vid of Doug making one of the Finnish B3Ks at high-speed(!), but seems the move was due to costing, and Doug wanting to focus on the designs rather than having to deal with the demand and put all of them together! There's also this vid of Spencer explaining why the USA B3Ks he's constructing are better!... Sorry for the video overload! Al
Cheers for all the info Si

    DIY Effects

Finally finished my GGG Green Russian Muff, been on hold for ages while I finish some other projects. This is modded with the AMZ Precence/Mid control. Artwork by: http://www.clairecousinsillustration.co.uk/ Really happy with how it came out, although I'll probably play about with the Mids a bit, resistor and pot value/taper etc Cheers Si
  6. I'm interested to know if there are any perceived 'cons' regarding having a cloth grill in front of a metal grill, any extra sound disipation? (on paper even?) Si
  7. I have to say I'm interested in the business setup. Is Doug at Darkglass an electronics engineer? or is he the ideas/vision and the money? I seem to remember he has a 'partner' who is the electronics guy? (Nothing wrong with that, its how EHX started). Maybe the partner isn't on the scene anymore and Spencer has taken on the role. All speculation on my behalf of course Great pedals from both parties though. Si

    Pedaltrain Volto
I don't know how the eneloop batteries perform under partial drain conditions, but I make sure mine is charged before every gig, and carry a spare mini diago PSU backup in my gig bag
I just plug into the mains Horses for courses innit Si

    Pedaltrain Volto
well horses for courses and all that - the Sanyo unit has battery life indicator (green/yellow/red LED) which removes any guesswork
Thats my point though, when your Volto is running into the yellow or red, can you be sure your pedals are getting what they need? Some people like battery sag, I don't haha. Si

    Pedaltrain Volto
Can't answer for Sibob, but my guitar pedalboard gets its juice from an IEC mains lead into a GigRig Generator. One cable from guitar to pedalboard, 2 cables from there to back of stage. No batteries to go flat, or to forget to charge. If mains goes down you're screwed anyway.
THIS! Plus, its a battery, its constantly decharging (when it's not charging), you'll never trully be sure that your pedals are sounding their optimum Si

    Pedaltrain Volto

There's a reason I don't use batteries in my pedals, only mains power. The Volto is a nice idea, but essentially just a big battery. I'll stick with mains Si
  12. For what its worth, I've had good dealings with the Orange repair team. Whilst I'm not about to talk money (every case is different), they were very helpful. I was able to drop the amp straight to them in Herts, which helped reduce cost. The costs they quote will no doubt be to cover their back and applicable most of the time, but they seem keen to help customers, so don't necessarily take it as gospel. Si

    Which Flanger?

Yup, another vote for the Boss BF-2B from me . Very cool Flanger....and its brown, which for me is a plus haha. Si
  14. I was asked to do a gig by a drummer once, his first question was "do you play slap", I said a little, but its not really part of what I do, however I knew lots of great players who do and I'll put him in contact. He then proceeded to say "oh we just want someone funky". I did the gig, no slap necessary, funky show. Often people don't know what they're talking about. Disco octaves, single popped accents within fingerstyle lines, they'll be happy enough. Si
  15. What is probably more productive than people trying argue which subjective view is correct is posting your response in the form of a 'musical' bass solo/piece. A clash!! Lets make Rodigan proud! Si
  16.
I rate Richard Bona as one of the best players in the World at the moment, and I wouldn't lump him in with the examples of solo playing we have seen so far in so much as he is essentially acting as an accompanist to his own singing. His style and choices make perfect sense, and the final result is beautiful.
Well yes, I agree, however 'solo bass' seems to be a broad term, chordal playing etc etc, so figured it was a good excuse to post the video Si
  17. Generally speaking I really dislike solo-bass slapping and tapping, Victor Wooten falls into that category largely for me. However, he is an excellent educator, and an even better player when he's not on a, what is for him, a money/rent gig (clinics, demos, slap-bonanza). He even says that he wishes he got calls for more 'normal' gigs, yes he's partly to blame for his own fate here, but we've all got to pay the rent huh A couple of exceptions of solo bass for me is Steve Lawson, and these two: Oh yeah, forgot, didn't like the original video, didn't speak to me on any level. No problem Si

  19. I'm sure they sound great, but what a stupid enclosure design (ask Aguilar). Assume they don't want guys using flat right-angle patch cables?! Si
  20. And apparently I made the last post in Members Chat! Si
