1. Naaa, all passives are different, I just tweeted you the question, but it depends what pickups you're using. For example, Bartolinis sound fantastic with a pre, but passively their output is very low. Get some Dimarzio's or something wound hot into a bass with no pre, it'll blow your head off. I certainly wouldn't base a decent passive setup on the OLP you've got I had an OLP with a Bartolini MM and an East 2 band, that was the only active bass I've ever liked Si
2. I've been telling you that for ages Active basses are balls, un-neccesary EQ, no dynamics, choke effects.... passive FTW Si
3. For a while now I've been GASing after Juan's bass from that vid, an early 70's P/J lined fretless. Pure tone!! Now where to find one lol Si
4. What we've learned here is 'Wanna use pedals.....get a passive bass' Si
5.
I've just bought a second one of these, but maybe I need three...
I own three....you should too! Si
6. Juan is a dude, real big inspiration to me! I think his board is actually really musical, he knows every pedal inside out and uses them to add rather than cover-up Si
7. The ZCat stuff looks interesting, I'd be interested in what you think of it if you order?! I've gotten a quote from Max at SFX, so that's an option, he makes great pedals. I've also got a quote pending from these guys: http://buzzelectronics.co.uk/index.php They don't make a blender, but am asking about custom, I'm not fussed about fancy paint etc lol Si

Sub Bass Tone

Another vote for octave + EQ My last gig I was running through a big PA, plenty of subs, I was boosting 62hz and it was shaking things off shelves I've now switched my EQ pedals and will be boosting 50hz :-D I'm messing around with the idea of producing some Meatbox clones......30hz boost anyone? Si
9. Are you aware that the band has that line up all the time? For all we know the drummer and bassist could be deps, unlikely perhaps, but I've certainly been on gigs with 2 or 3 other deps, seat of your pants but nice and organic Si
10. Yeah just talk to Newtone, they'll sort you out with whatever you want! Simples Si
11. Hi guys, As is tradition, here's a last minute invite to my covers band, Re:Cover's, gig at O'neills Think we start about 9 or 9:30pm Maybe cya there Lovely Si
12. ARGH, I have a 2003 USA Jazz that I've often thought about trading for a Hotrod P......but it's a lovely bass.....so torn lol Si
13. His white Yammy looks very cool, shame its a 5 Nice little collection for a well-off Pino fan though Si
14. I have the Jazz equivalent and Fender really know how to make a good 5 IMO. Seriously considered exchanging my J5 for the P5, but never quite made the jump. Good luck, looks like a beauty! Si
15. Oh he's not gonna sue, even if he reads this and thinks 'Oh well now I'm gonna make an example of the site', it's still a ridiculous move to make. At best you're going to see a massive dive in UK sales, at worst there'll be a massive sale of 2nd hand Rics, which could affect global sales (shipping to other countries etc). I know they're the extremes, but the online backlash from legal action on something so petty (It's not even like we're building copies in a garage) would not be worth the action. They'd need to spend so much in legal fee's maintaining the precedence, they might as well sell up now. Si
16. It's funny isn't it, how protecting ones intellectual property (or at least that's how JH see's it) can damage your sales, as is probably the case here. By taking away peoples choice, they're less likely to choose your product, simple as that. Embrace competition and the intrinsic quality of a company will usually show through the players with discerning tastes. As has been mentioned, protecting ones assets is fine, but there are means to do so without alienating your customer-base If nothing else, this thread might act as a business lesson in 'Uk bassists' for Ric lol Si
17. Hi all, I have a Boss Line Selector, boxed with manual etc. Pics to follow. Looking to get hold of a Super Shifter or Harmonist (PS-5/6), also up for a VB-2 or Meatbox too, all with cash your way I should think Chars Si
18.
I think 'Cats', in the jazz fraternity, refers to hardcore jazzers who can do it, as opposed to those on the periphery of the jazz scene who are not there yet. So, say Jasper Hollby could be a 'Cat' but I wouldn't be as I am not in that league. So if someone like Branford Marsalis or whoever called you a 'Cat' it would be a compliment. So old farts playng Jazz in pubs in Sheffield who call people Cats are kinda poseurs. Personally, I think you have to be a Cat to decide who else is so its a minefield and if you try to call someone a Cat who isn't, you coudl look a bit of a dick. I can't call anyone a Cat yet because I am mere cannon fodder. Alternatively, I could be talking total bollocks!
I think you just proved my point?! lol Si
19. Someone said it earlier, but modern players referring to each other as "Cats", really makes me cringe, it just sounds so try-hard lol Si
20. Add me to the list if you want Would be good to get a little network of deps going. Am only over in High Wycombe, so places like Clapham are about a 30mins drive on a clear day Noice Si
21. This is my fave: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z9KMgg7T_sg&feature=artist Si
22. Is it quite strong wood? I wouldn't want to stamp on it in anger in fear of splinters lol. Looks great though, very 'Pedal Train' Si
23. You can't really compare the Squier brand signatures to Fender brand signatures, they're aimed at utterly different markets The BB signature looks nice, wonder if the bassmute will be standard.....assuming it gets made at all Si
24. Wanna do me the Vibrato for £10 just to get rid? :-P Si
