Perhaps it varies from pedal to pedal?! I know Boss generally suggests it, I've also known a few pedals LEDS to not work on a standard PSA, whilst being fine daisy-chained off a TU-2 etc They are quirky, so it doesn't surprise me if there's inconsistencies in the flaws lol Si

You also might need to rethink the OC-2 if it is an older Japanese pedal. They much prefer being daisy chained from another Boss pedal (like the TU-2 or LS-2) due to it needing the older ACA power supply. I don't know if the Pitch Black would work in the same way?! Si

I had my CoPilot FX Orbit built with a blend, so I have a blendable gated fuzz, with a blendable ring-mod....all in one pedal Si

I've been messing around and I can cop pretty similar tones with either my MD-2 with GEB-7 boosted at 800hz, as well as an ODB-3 with the same EQ'ing. Obviously slightly different sounds, but both pretty close to that recording. No blended sounds. Of course that's just in my lounge at home, those tones will sound very different in a live setting. I'd put money on him using different gear to get that studio tone to what he uses live. Oh the other thing which is important, which I'm sure you're doing, is using a plectrum, makes sooooo much difference! Si

I'm getting really nice subtle/musical results from my Boss LM-2 & CS-2, not boutique stuff, and kinda getting difficult to find for decent prices. The Limiter I think is quite similar to the modern Boss equivalent, but the old CS-2 beats the newer CS-3 hands down! Si

I use a Boss MD-2 to good effect, I can't listen to your vid just now so not saying it will acheive that sound, but I find it's a great Distortion for bass, it has treble and bass controls too. Si

It's certainly not a collector, so anyone saying that it should be put in a museum I find very odd. It's a knackered Jazz bass, albeit with a cool history, that should be played. It's pretty mellow with rounds fitted, very similar tone to my '73 J....but my '73 J has flats on it lol, so that gives an idea to it's mellownessness. Si

From what I understand with the bass big muff, there are issues with the blend & volume controls being out of sync? something like that. Difficult to balance your bass sound without getting a volume boost, easily modded thought it seems. I had a standard silver Muff that sounded fine on bass, although that was with all the tone rolled off, so more bass retention, wind it up and you lose bottom end. My CoPilot FX Orbit w/blend has replaced it. Si

I too thought that the slapping issue was a lot less than past year. The general volume issue was probably as good as it's going to get, I think it's damage limitation rather than actually being able to have completely silent 15mins every hour. Definitly agree that it felt 'smaller', but again, not necessarily a bad thing. Lack of gear? perhaps, but then I go to LBS to catch up with friends who I don't get to see very often due largely to clashing schedules, I think I played one bass....and that was to try out an amp for 10mins. Never drink on a gig where I'm being hired to do a job. Sometimes on originals gigs i might have a couple, but I want to be in a state where I'm fully aware. I remember years ago I did a gig where I was rather pissed, recorded it, played fine, but I don't remember it at all, don't recall any enjoyment etc. What's the point in that? I play music because it gives me something, so putting myself into a state when I don't feel that enjoyment seems utterly pointless. Si
