Stacks were phased out by the end of '62, so there was a transition period I'm not sure about it, something doesn't feel right lol. Certainly the knobs are replacements Si

HELP! I've just received a £1,200 bonus from work.
Sibob replied to thebrig's topic in General Discussion
Ummm, is it actually a bonus?? Or is it an over-payment that they're going to ask for back lol Si -
South East Bass Bash No.5, Surrey, Saturday 24th September 2011
Sibob replied to silverfoxnik's topic in Events
All those worried about not being an experienced player or anything like that, please don't think about it like that. There is genuinely more talking going on than playing, that's certainly the case for me. Si -
It seems quite cool just playing at home with it, I won't get to explore completely (volume/song context) until rehearsals, first one for a while is on Sunday....will report back Si
-
Do you just have your cab sat on the floor? Si
I have no doubt they are great cabs, my worry is im going from an extremely loud cab that im used to, and would need to sell it to pay for a new one so there's no going back. After feeling a little let down with my recent amp change im just being a bit more cautious. Steve. knowing the sort of music you play thats a great recommendation for a small cab. Im not expecting earth moving low end but if it works for you then i expect it will be at least deep enough for me.
I've never gigged a Schroeder, but the BF cabs are pretty bloody loud/sensitive Si

If it makes any difference, I can highly recommend the BF Compacts, so much so that I've just bought another one..... Mmmm 2x15 stack My mate Dave also liked it so much he bought a a Super Twelve. Si
Interested in one of these: http://www.soundslive.co.uk/product~name~P...bo~ID~11084.asp for a trade? And a wee bit money your way. It's in pristine condition. andy
No thanks buddy, I have amps coming out of my ears! I'm leaning towards just cash now as I'm pretty much set for everything else and I've just pulled the trigger on a couple of bits Cheers Si

Cheers for bumping this guys Its a shame all the questions didn't get answered, not that I hold it against Owen in the slightest, but I have some other great bassists lined up for interviews, so watch this space Si

Hi all, Seriously considering another Barefaced, so just wanted to see if there'd be any takers for my Ashdown, just from a 'space-in-my-flat' point of view lol It's very gigged, fairly decent coverage of nicks and scrapes, some down to the wood etc, but completely solid and in perfect working order. I don't think I'd post this as its the old style cab, so not neo, fairly weighty considering its diminutive size. I'd take cash on collection Speaker Configuration 4 x 8" H x W x D (mm) 474 x 474 x 335 Weight (kg) 25 http://img842.imageshack.us/img842/2435/26...32120572091.jpg http://img231.imageshack.us/img231/8018/26...32120762091.jpg http://img714.imageshack.us/img714/1619/27...32120952091.jpg http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/197/2649201...32121092091.jpg Cheers Si

Can I just put in a little +1 for Ms Treacher above!! Si
-
All you really need to know is 2x8ohm cabs= 4ohms, and 2x4ohm cabs = 2ohms Match that with the minimum impedance of your amp to know what you can use. Most amp websites will let you know the output into 8ohms and output to 4ohms....the 4ohm output (or 2 if it goes that low) will always be the advertised power. That's why products like the Ashdown Little Giant 1000 were frowned upon slightly....it was only 1000watts into 2ohms, the 8ohm output was a pretty standard 300w or something. Si

Not anything to do with bass, but a modern artist in this kinda vain that I like is David Ford. Check out all his albums, but start with the tune 'Song For The Road'...beautiful! Si -
Here's my streamlined board: I've just swapped the Big Muff out for the Copilot Orbit gated fuzz....which is nice! lol....haven't tried it at rehearsal yet. I've also taken off the Boss input selector I had on, just because I haven't been using my synth much.....all bass guitar! I've kept the effects loop on though (initially I just had it to bypass the pedals when I had the synth on), but I quite like having the input and output of the entire board in one location. I've included the recent soundclip I did of the board (forgive the buzzy jack cable I had to use). Thats obviously with the Muff, will do one with the Orbit asap Si

Cheers guys, I'm not actually playing any Rage in the band (well a couple, but it's very very rare lol). But I want a heavier sound for guitar solos, and it's that sound I want haha. Gonna get hold of a Guv'nor tonight I think, so will give that a go, perhaps a modded bad monkey might be the next place to try. I'd like to try and keep it to a one pedal solution, simply because I'll be using it sparingly! Alex, the Blowtorch is on my radar, sounds great in the demos, but it's 18v, which means I can't daisy chain it off a TU-2. This little setup is separate to my main pedalboard, so want to keep it separate. On a side note, my Copilot FX Orbit just turned up , going on my main board. Si
Hello mate, you got any Ovation 6 string guitars there, the good ones like the Legends or Elites, but not the Adamas? Couldn't see any on your website. Cheers, Nigel
Give him a PM Nige, see my post above Probably be quicker in any case. Si
Nice little interview, thanks Si! I met the Roots myself years ago when I was working as a music journalist... I think they were playing at one of the birthday parties of Fat City Records in Manchester, as I remember. Must have been over 10 years ago or so (around the time of Illadelph Halflife). Great band. You've just inspired me to dig out what I have of them on vinyl and give it an airing!
Cheers bud, Yeah there were a load more questions in the interview, but I've no doubt that Owen is an incredibly busy chap, so am grateful for what he was able to answer! He nails The Roots vibe completely on How I Got Over, but he really is able to step out a bit more on the John Legend collab, so is definitly worth a listen! Si
We recently started putting dual speakons on all our 8 ohm cabs because of this. Previously second speakons were an optional extra for those buying their second Barefaced cab. However it's incredibly easy to turn two speakon leads into a single Y-lead with nothing but a screwdriver and 10 minutes of your time.
Cheers Alex, nice to know the combination is possible....always thinking of expansion Si
