That's a hard pass from me haha Si -

I think they look great, nice dark green, really nice walnut, the pink is a nice vintage shell pink. Good on Gretsch! Si -
I'm sure it's an excellent amp, and the DG crew know what they're doing VERY well.......but yes, the e500 logo/font is AWFUL, along with no 'Darkglass' or 'Exponent' on the front, very odd branding choices. Si

La Bella Flats & Gold White Nylons comparison with Chromes and Rounds

Yes, but then we wouldn't have had words used like 'compliant', which is the perfect description! Si -
La Bella Flats & Gold White Nylons comparison with Chromes and Rounds
Sibob replied to Sibob's topic in Accessories and Misc
Appreciate these Q's weren't for me, but my 2pence is..... I find tapes comparable to flats with regards to longevity, which I think in part is why they're more expensive, companies know that they're inherently going to sell way fewer of them compared to Roundwounds. Certainly when I put flats and tapes on a bass, I largely assume I'm not going to replace them for a LONG time. I gigged my last set of Gold White Nylons a lot and didn't hear any drop-off in tone. Those strings only went because I sold the bass. When I bought the bass back (sans the strings unfortunately), I put on some White Nylons and while they're still relatively new, I assume I won't change those strings for years now. Tension wise, they are low tension! Kinda the opposite to flats, and lower still than roundwounds. Some people really don't like them for that reason, but for me it's one of the reasons I love them most. If you have a particularly heavy touch, you're going to likely have to change your approach, but if you're quite light-handed, you're doing to love them. They also bend really nicely for vibrato. SOLD Putting this bass back up for sale/part-ex, as incredible as it is, I realistically don't need more than two Precision’s haha. Price is: SOLD Open to trades or part-ex’s, 4 strings, would primarily love a Guild Starfire II, but potentially open to Spectors (but only dark/black gloss) or Kala U-Bass. No maple fingerboards or probably any sunburst, or anything weighing much over 9lbs. The MVP is 'As new' condition, as well as coming with a fantastic Access Stage 3 gig bag which are an extra cost as standard (seriously, these are Mono beaters.....and I love Mono cases), and beautifully set up with La Bella Black Tape Nylon strings (another £50 value there). I can take off £75 if you don't want the case, which can be seen here: https://modernvintageguitars.com/modern-vintage-shop/access-stage-3-deluxe-gig-bag-for-bass-guitar/ I would prefer collection/meet-up, however we can discuss shipping at your cost/risk, only if you're having the gigbag too however, for shipping safety. In any case, details are: •Heat Treated (torrefied/roasted) Maple Neck •Matching Shell Pink Headstock •Indian Rosewood Fingerboard (this example is very dark and resembles Brazilian rosewood, really beautiful fingerboard) •43mm Nut width •Clay dots •Licensed Hipshot Tuners •‘Vintage Voiced’ Pickup •Steel Bridge Saddles •Period Correct Alder Body •3-ply Pickguard •Weight: 8.4lbs Sound clips available on request Cheers Si

Alright, think we're done for anything worthwhile here. Si

I think it's just Stratton being a business person in the guitar industry. My understanding is that they (Stratton/Dart/Vulfpeck) buy the production for x amount of basses upfront, and then sell them on at a profit. If you dislike that, in my mind, you dislike the business model of any brand that outsources the production of their instruments. Si

Well this got Talkbass very quickly didn't it!! 😗 Si

Looks like a wonderful bass, but at just shy of 11lbs, it's a chunk of an instrument! Finish would work perfect in one of my bands though (singer obsessed with orange haha) Si

Without any measurements etc, I always felt it played and sounded like 60's. I really liked the XJ-1T Lite I had, sounded balance, played nicely, was about as light as I'd want for an active Jazz. Mine had the hum-cancelling module included, and I found the preamp to me very musical and intuitive, including loving the tone control that worked in active mode also. Here's a live session I did with it should it be of interest. Si

Usually, it's not the 'quality' of the USB cable, as it's not passing analogue signal, it's a digital signal. It's much more likely to be the length of the cable, as lots to do with MIDI is down to timing (not in a musical sense), and if you have a longer cable, it takes more time for data to travel down the cable, leading to hangs and drop-outs etc. Si

Bit of a long shot, but has anyone converted any IKEA (or similar) furniture for multiple bass storage (in or out of cases). Yes, we’ve all seen the nifty drawer systems from Google, but I’m looking for your real world conversions for basses. Cheers Si

We probably don’t need to continue posting ridiculous confederacy paraphernalia. I can’t see it on the Gallery socials anymore (although still on the website) so if we’re done, will close it out as a dead topic. Si

Never had any issues with them tbh, have bought a bass from them and a number of string sets. I appreciate that others have had some issues, but I suspect that it’s far fewer than those who have had good experiences….but of course (and understandably) those with a bad experience are louder. Bo retailer is perfect, those that are perhaps more ‘consistent’ probably have the budget/resource to do so because they’re not a bass-specific retailer. Pros and cons huh Si

Yeah I think if I was going to put out a physical release now, it would be vinyl with a download code. Si

Still though, they’re not $1599 nice haha. Maybe if they drop them to $700 like they did for other Gibson stuff. Si

Yeah it’s all about the Olive one for me too! Si

Really, most DAW's will run on most computers, they themselves don't need a great deal of juice. Once you start building larger music projects in your DAW though, be it lots of midi or lots of audio....or both, that's where you need to consider the performance of your computer. If you want to record one bass/guitar track along to a backing track, a lower spec will be fine. If you're looking to actively learn about music production and envisage building larger and larger sessions as you get better, then aim for a better spec off the bat, budget permitting. Personally I'm a Mac/Logic user, but if I were going PC, my minimum spec would be i7, 16gb (with room to increase), 1TB SSD. So you're largely there, the i5 will be fine I think, and you might be able to plop an upgrade in at some point if you run out of juice (motherboard permitting). You will also want an audio interface of some description if you're looking to record bass/guitar. Most newer MIDI devices connect over USB, so: A) You won't necessarily need an audio interface with MIDI Din connectors. B) As has been mentioned, ensure that you have plenty of USB sockets on your motherboard choice. If you have to add a USB Hub to your setup, not all are created equal, research what works well for music production. For a PC DAW, I'd go Reaper or Cubase. Pro Tools on PC isn't great in my experience. Ableton Live & FL Studio are typically more for electronic/clip/sample based music generally. Logic is Mac only. Good luck Si // Focusrite
