The trick is finding the right band innit. I gig a LOT with my covers/function band, but its great fun....everyone is a very high standard, no show is the same really. But I also take lessons, teach a little bit (great way of learning about yourself as well), and play some original shows too, not as many as I used to...I pick and choose them now. I know loads of guys who make a healthy living from being a professional musician/teacher, me?....I kinda like the seperation between my (rather serious) semi-pro hobby, and the rest of my life. Si

I thought the sage green MIM on here for sale a while ago looked great! Si

Enfield do their fully switchable system: Si

I would never ever judge a bass/amp/cab outside of a gig setting, everything is so different to home use, and even rehearsal use (what gigs do you do in a small 10x10 room?) Get it out and play it, tweak it, then see what you think Si

How would you compare the Hardwire Overdrive to the Boss ODB-3? Si
-
I have an Orange Terror Bass (albeit with non-stock valves) & a Markbass Littlemark 2, I have to say both are great through my Barefaced Compact. The Markbass has a much more powerful EQ section, although to be fair I've just got both amps set absolutely flat at the moment. You won't make the Markbass overdrive, whereas you can with the Orange, although I never take it that far. Si

Stacks were phased out by the end of '62, so there was a transition period I'm not sure about it, something doesn't feel right lol. Certainly the knobs are replacements Si

HELP! I've just received a £1,200 bonus from work.

Ummm, is it actually a bonus?? Or is it an over-payment that they're going to ask for back lol Si -
South East Bass Bash No.5, Surrey, Saturday 24th September 2011
Sibob replied to silverfoxnik's topic in Events
All those worried about not being an experienced player or anything like that, please don't think about it like that. There is genuinely more talking going on than playing, that's certainly the case for me. Si -
It seems quite cool just playing at home with it, I won't get to explore completely (volume/song context) until rehearsals, first one for a while is on Sunday....will report back Si
-
Do you just have your cab sat on the floor? Si
I have no doubt they are great cabs, my worry is im going from an extremely loud cab that im used to, and would need to sell it to pay for a new one so there's no going back. After feeling a little let down with my recent amp change im just being a bit more cautious. Steve. knowing the sort of music you play thats a great recommendation for a small cab. Im not expecting earth moving low end but if it works for you then i expect it will be at least deep enough for me.
I've never gigged a Schroeder, but the BF cabs are pretty bloody loud/sensitive Si

If it makes any difference, I can highly recommend the BF Compacts, so much so that I've just bought another one..... Mmmm 2x15 stack My mate Dave also liked it so much he bought a a Super Twelve. Si
Interested in one of these: http://www.soundslive.co.uk/product~name~P...bo~ID~11084.asp for a trade? And a wee bit money your way. It's in pristine condition. andy
No thanks buddy, I have amps coming out of my ears! I'm leaning towards just cash now as I'm pretty much set for everything else and I've just pulled the trigger on a couple of bits Cheers Si

Hi all, Seriously considering another Barefaced, so just wanted to see if there'd be any takers for my Ashdown, just from a 'space-in-my-flat' point of view lol It's very gigged, fairly decent coverage of nicks and scrapes, some down to the wood etc, but completely solid and in perfect working order. I don't think I'd post this as its the old style cab, so not neo, fairly weighty considering its diminutive size. I'd take cash on collection Speaker Configuration 4 x 8" H x W x D (mm) 474 x 474 x 335 Weight (kg) 25 http://img842.imageshack.us/img842/2435/26...32120572091.jpg http://img231.imageshack.us/img231/8018/26...32120762091.jpg http://img714.imageshack.us/img714/1619/27...32120952091.jpg http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/197/2649201...32121092091.jpg Cheers Si

Can I just put in a little +1 for Ms Treacher above!! Si
-
All you really need to know is 2x8ohm cabs= 4ohms, and 2x4ohm cabs = 2ohms Match that with the minimum impedance of your amp to know what you can use. Most amp websites will let you know the output into 8ohms and output to 4ohms....the 4ohm output (or 2 if it goes that low) will always be the advertised power. That's why products like the Ashdown Little Giant 1000 were frowned upon slightly....it was only 1000watts into 2ohms, the 8ohm output was a pretty standard 300w or something. Si
