2.
Isn't that enough?
Well yes of course Si
3. I'd say that's a decent enough price seeing as they were around £2200 about 5 years ago. Custom shop prices don't seem as hiked as normal production prices?!. I have to say, when I've had a stacked knob Jazz. I found that I barely used the tone on the neck pickup, so for me vol/vol/tone is a more economical approach....but stacks do look cool Si
4. Just two years earlier Looks like 3 of mine too lol, but just very very cool! Si
5. So not for the Fender haters this.....but i've only just seen the '11 offerings from the Custom Shop Time Machine range: http://www.fendercustomshop.com/index.php/...elic_Jazz_Bass/ Yes I know it's only one model......but what a model!! Si
6. Just sat and learned the bass break from You Can Call Me Al.....loved the song for 12years, only just learned it Si
7. And the fact that he's Stuart Zender! Figure your own sound and style out, thats the real fun Si
8.
Have you spoken to Jon about the sound you'd like to get from it? Maybe different pickups or pre-amp might help?
+1 Jon will sort you out with something, just get some angry pickups in there!! Si
9. A 'really don't wanna eBay it, would much prefer a bass-chatter to have it' bump Si
10. Done, 50mb worth apparently Si
11. Really love this, singlecuts are the only 'fancy basses' I like.......and even better when they're understated! Lovely! Si
12. Love your playing mate!, gutted I missed you on saturday! Btw, do you do lessons by any chance? Si
13.
Hey Si! Yeah, that's why we took refuge and grabbed a coffee for an hour! Certain stands were noted for their dreadful noise pollution heh! - but it was great to have a mo' away from the noise to have a natter with ya!
Yeah the Cafe area was a welcome break, me and Dave (funkyveed) went and just sat on the floor near the furthest wall we could with our coffee lol Glad we managed to catch each other mate, I missed a few people as our ears were just too tired and we left about 4pm Si
14.
Am quite surprised people were saying Bernie was on a slap fest - this show, Bernie did very little playing... And he was pretty much concentrating on his Jaco stuff, chordal stuff and chorus/reverb tricks when he was. I heard very little slap from Bernie and seen as I was on the stand solid for two days, I would say I'm pretty much in a strong position to say who was playing what, It was quite amusing though - some of the GB regulars who got up to have a quick razz got told to stfu the second they went for a slap, tickle or pop! Sibob - don't know what you were seeing or hearing at the stand when you were there. Bernie was taking the punter through the EBS pedals - if I recall, you were talking to Steve Lawson. I think you are giving Bernie an unfair press here.
You managed to spot me chatting to Steve? good eyes lol I don't want to seem like I'm giving Bernie a bad rep......not that I think he'd care about anything I said lol. I remember seeing him slap once, but also a couple of other people saying "oh there's Bernie off on one again"......as I tried to get across, its all in jest. You're right, the GB's weren't as annoying as other brands tonally, but the stand still contributed to the decibels within the overall cacophony.....thats not bad press, thats just how the whole show was.....we knew it would be like that lol Si p.s. I'm sure Steve L wouldn't mind me saying that all the slap was getting to him too
15. I think there's a difference between convention/show/bedroom/showoff slap bass, and the slap bass that makes it onto good songs/albums....as TM Stevens noted in his LBS clinic. Unfortunately the former is more prevalent. Si
16.
I had a quick word with Bernie yesterday, he was grumbling about all the slapping going on in the show. But a lot of it did seem to be coming from his stand as far as I could tell.
BERNIE WAS PLAYING LOADS OF IT HIMSELF!!! lol Its all jokes, they obviously can't stop people slapping, but next year they really do have to deal with the consistent volumes. Yes sometimes you have to crank an amp/cab to hear its potential, but not for any longer than a minute surely!?. It is just "HEY Look at me!!" My very personal opinion is that you tell who were bedroom players, and those who work a lot Si
17. Came away with zero GAS, which is fine Bit of banter with TM Stevens as he walked past me in the Cafe queue, which was fun.....his clinic was also great! Really enjoyed the saturday, the volume/slap issues are well documented, but at least the show was a resounding success Si
18.
I got to have a brief play of this on Saturday, really nice 'vibe' to this bass, great colour, those White pickups are really cool and the neck feels really nice
Cheers buddy, really good to meet you and have a chat, how was sunday? Si
19. Should backup my suggestion shouldn't I Si
20. GB were one of the main culprits for the slap filth lol Some stunning basses, but I generally stayed away on account of the noise....as thats all it was Si
21. Post London Bass Show bump for new pics, including come of the case! Cheers Si
22. +1 for the big band stuff!! Birthday Concert is amongst my fave Jaco recordings!! You also get arrangments of a few songs he wrote in Weather Report where Zawinul (bless his heart) isn't fiddling all over them. Also, how can you not like A Remark You Made from Heavy Weather, beautiful track Si
23.
I'll just be there on Saturday now Looking forward to it M
Good to have a chat again, enjoyed it at the last bass bash Si
