1. I suppose it's also the difference between writing songs and writing music! Si
2. Janek's a funny one for me!, obviously an incredibly talented musician (fantastic chordal knowledge), but I saw him at the 606 club, and although there were great chops and ideas.....I didn't find it very musical. I certainly didn't remember any tunes or melodies coming away from the gig. Having said that, his groove playing is great, his bassday lessons on bassplayer.tv are cool, and there's some cool r&b type clinic playing vids on YouTube! Horses for courses though innit, each to their own, boring if we all thought the same etc etc Keep it friendly Si
3. My band Shallow And The Deep is putting on a club night in High Wycombe this friday (12th Nov). If anyone is of the Hip Hop/Drum N Bass/Dubstep etc persuasion......come on down. There'll be DJ's, live Graffiti, and us headlining £6 or £5 NUS Si
4. This is really lovely isn't it.....would still likes birthyear bass . All I coulda done though would be my '85 Jap Squier plus cash lol. Keep it and gig it Si
5.

May or may not have just ordered one of these! Si
6.
Octave is always going to be the D&B friend. I have 3 presets, but mostly use octave down with no original signal. Flavoured with soft chorus. That's the mainstaple of my sound.
Just reading back through the thread and saw this......couldn't agree with you more...as I've put above Si
7. Love that last vid! Some amazing ideas and techniques! I'm getting into all this with my Dub-steppy Hiphop band, slightly limited funds (no double Mooger Froogers and Moog bass pedals for me)....but its fun anyway. I've found the best tool at my disposal so far is the OC-2 with no direct signal (obviously playing an octave higher than you normally would), some chorus on it, sounds very dub! Si
8. Nice one buddy. Maybe I should drop the guy an email Si
9. Lower the pickup on the bass side slightly? Si
10. Sorry....just re-read your post Umph and you do mention a "pot in series".....so yes a knob as I put it haha. I assume the pot you mention is to change the level of the gate? Cheers Si
11. Ok, I think that makes sense. For clarity, the pedal will have less gain ability?....so you'd have to turn up the gain to achieve the same level pre-mod?! Ummm, what if you wanted to attenuate the gate via an added control-knob? Si
12. You're talking to a layman here lol What would be the pro's of what you're suggesting over a standard gate mod? Cheers Si
13. Just did a quick google and found this: Is this all it is? (said as if I know what it means): "Noise gate mod: This mod will quieten the Muff while not playing, thus a noise gate. To do this, add a 100k trimpot (wired as a variable resistor) parallel to the 100k to ground of the second gain stage (R14). The trimpot can be adjusted to taste to get the max noise gate effect." I'm guessing I can get my dad to do it (electronics professional)?! Anyone tried it? Si
14. Ummm, pretty much what the title says really. I've got a Big Muff, that I love the sound of, but wouldn't mind adding a gate function to it. Anyone know it it's possible, or anyone who can do it? Cheers Si
15. £100 for some electrics work and a pot?? Jeez, what luthier are you going to? lol Si
16. Sold pending Si
17. Will probably help prospective buyers to put a weight up! Looks great though, good luck with it! Si
18. Bump for pics Cheers Si
19. Thinking of upgrading soon, so wanted to gauge the feeling on this! It's the older style Mini 1x15, with the square handles, off-centre logo and porting on the rear! Gigged fairly heavily (although not at all as much as the 4x8, that's a mess (in a good way) haha)....so its got some aesthetic wear, scuffs, dinks etc, but completely working perfectly, and completely structurally sound obviously £120ono Would prefer local collection (Wycombe/Oxford/Reading/West London etc) Cheers Si
20. How much does it weigh? Si
21. Good stuff, I'll be there I should think! Si
22. Cheekily added myself onto the list Si
23. I'll be along to this I should think! I'll be going straight to a gig afterwards, so will just have my two Jazzes ('73 & '03), Orange and Ashdown stuff with me Schweet Si
24. Might I point out that weight is subjective depending on ones stature! Chill out all! Looks like a lovely bass, based on this, wonder what my (WoT's ) '73 is worth now lol Si
25. Just moved this to Ebay links.....as that is what they are! If they don't sell, and you want to sell on Basschat, feel free to use the For Sale section Cheers Si
