  1. .....but at the potential expense of all other aspects of a tone and feel that might not like or be appropriate for the music they play? I'm with WoT on this.....probably not a thing. I find that different basses want different strings (obviously that sits within our personal preference for things). I had flats on my passive P/J Lakland 44-94 for a while, it sounded fine, but wasn't right.....I couldn't tell you why. Put some roundwounds on it, boom, perfect. Similar excercise with my 1971 Precision, it had rounds on it for a little while when I first got it.....wasn't right, but some flats on it....boom, perfect. My 55-01 had rounds on it for a bit, horrible.....put some tapewounds on it, boom, perfect. To that end, I would suggest that all players, if they consider that a certain string isn't working for them, don't be all 'naaa flats/rounds are bad', just think that they might not be right for that particular bass. Si
  2. My Moollon P-Classic was an excellent bass, but I've just had it properly set-up and now it's just even more wonderful!! 🙌

Sorry Si, this section is for Status Updates.

You need to be in the Moollon Updates section.

  3. 55-01 all set up with some new ‘Lemon Lime Delight’ tapewounds from La Bella. US Bartolini Dual Coils and NTMB preamp give this bass a boutique sound and feel IMO. Si
  4. Sims will be able to do it for you! Not the cheapest, but I think they already have the 44-64 template, so should be quick and easy. Totally agree on white/sunburst, it’s a combo that NRVER looks good, tort or black on sunburst (and not red tort 🤢). Si
  5. Yup, love them, best in the business IMO. I have US Barts (ie not MK1's etc) in my Elrick and Lakland 5 strings. Also waiting on an order of their B-Axis P/J pickups to go in my Lakland 4 string. Si
  6. Absolutely! Very glad to have it back! Si
  7. Well, didn’t actually think it would happen, but with a little patience….my old Lakland 55-01 is back with me. I sold it getting on for 2 years ago, and regretted it ever since! Luckily I was still in contact with the person I sold it to, and after a little wrangling (who could blame him, it’s a great bass), finally the sale back to me happened. Its almost exactly as it was when I sold it, I think the ‘Vintage Cream’ finish has yellowed mildly, but could just be the lights here at the services on the way to my gig haha. Still had the US Bartolini pickups and preamp I put in it thankfully, although currently strung with some horrible roundwounds. Will get it setup ASAP with some La Bella Ltd edition White Nylons. Some nicer pictures soon when it’s all setup and cleaned a little! Si
  8. Exactly this. Similar issue to some uni’s/music schools wanting to ‘do better’ and offer grants/scholarships to female musicians. It comes from a good place but massively misses the mark, the barrier to entry isn’t financial, it’s an issue of culture propagated by people like, in this instance, Adam Clayton. Si
  9. I THINIK I'm getting something on Saturday.....but no more details incase I jinx it!

  10. Nice! Thought this might have been my old one for a moment. Had it years ago and also de-fretted at The Gallery….although possibly with maple lines instead. In any case, GLWTS Si
  11. Classic and Cool have my old US Lakland P for sale currently. Si
  12. That looks wonderful!! Very jealous! Si
  13. Yes 1st Gen I believe, I shall add to description Si
  14. SOLD Received this as a part-ex for my Lakland 55-02, but I already have a Jazz 5 so straight up for sale. Gen 1 I believe, based on the spec, good condition, no marks, dents or chips other than a mark/discoloration behind the bridge which I’ve photographed. There is some mild ‘swirling’ on the back and scratchplate, but nothing more than you’d expect from a gigged bass. Neck is a really nice example of maple. Electronics all working fine. Gig bag is pretty decent too. I’d prefer meet-up/collection on this (I’m in Amersham, Bucks), purely as I don’t have a box to pack it up with, but if I come across one, that could change. SOLD Cheers Si
  15. I'm not quite sure how they differ then from W&T? Si
  16. Like the look of W&T basses, not sure I'd buy one, but they're nice to look at. Not convinced on the Pasini side, I'm not sure I get the concept/marketing angle. The metal pickbuard/control plate is the worst part for me. But hey, I think you should get one @ambient SI
  17. Yeah I’m not fussed about the ‘vintage’ element, but could be good for paring with my Noble. I had a GR Amp that was a similar setup, but the fan was pretty bloody loud. Si
  18. I’m more interested in the Little Mark Vintage Amp 1000 (the power amp only one), but can’t find any info on it other than on the MB site, no dealers or anything. Si
  19. Haha, no, although would be a cool twin for my 4 string. Would likely be a US 55-01 style, ie two soapbars (Bartolini naturally). Si
  20. I just don't get on with Cherry burst finishes at all, but it's a stunner, put it in tobacco sunburst or a metallic 'custom' colour, and you have me! Seriously considering a US Lakland 55-94 custom (with a couple of Sibob personal touches), but need to sell the 55-02 first. Si
  21. This was mine and is genuinely a very good bass, especially for the price! Si
