1. Disgustingly over-priced! Thats a "only a fan of my dad will buy this, so might as well hike the price" Si
2. Did it actually go for that?? Does a reserve still show up as 'not reached' even when the auction has ended? Si
3. But its the band leaders choice who plays on a record? If he wants to tread on the new bass players feet, then its not Stylons problem...its politics that the band leader has to deal with! I'd do the session, for money, being a hired musician....but yes, I'd want the new guy to be in on the decision!. Its a job, get hired....don't get hired.....leave the politics to the band members! Si
4. Yup I think you've answered your own question really! £50 for a two hour session is very reasonable.....and "have you asked your new bass player about this?" Si
5.
Yeah she does and she always plays bizarre nights in London, never a Friday or Saturday night! I don't think I have been able to see her yet! Might have to take a day off work and stay with my girlfriend in London this time though as I don't want to keep on missing her! She'll be so awesome live!
I think a lot of these kinda artists do that because they know a bulk of their market is other Musicians......who gig on largely gig on weekends! I for one am hugely thankful they gig on 'bizarre' nights lol.....I'd never see any music otherwise! Si
6. Yup, that headstock decal is right for the year.....Patent numbers under the 'Fender' logo started appearing in '61. I think the fact that the bag is still in tact and in that good a condition suggests that this base has barely ever been played if it is genuine....the finish seems to be consistent with the condition of the bag, so might not be a refinish!? That probably either means its been in a collection for the past 50 years......or it is indeed awful....I live in hope that its just an undiscovered gem! Couldn't tell you about the wiring, I'm an electrics retard! Si
7. Ok just measured by Jap Precision, and the neck is seemingly 42mm......1.625"......1 5/8" Which is a B....which is great! Colour me interested....PM'd Si
8. Can anyone tell me what the neck width would be on this? Funx Si
9. I'd never seen the original Fender gigbags, so was great to see this. The bass is in beautiful condition, and is fast becoming a year for the Precision that I'm really really loving! 10. It's also one thing to want to clone the listing of a vintage Fender.......as opposed to wanting to clone the listing of what is probably a Squier or a MIM. Si
11. Just a bump for it being TONIGHT! Si
12. Yes, brilliant job! Nice one! Si
13. I'm not enjoying this Fender deviation to odd shaped basses Nice one though, never ever gelled with Thunderbirds....I think its mainly the sound, and the fact you HAVE to have them slung low! Si
14. I was on the same quest for the last few months. The LG's don't sound anything like Ashdowns other amps, they're not meant to, no tube preamps. Same thing with the LMK II's and even the new III Tube, its a warm tube, not a grind tube. Shuttles also have a preamp valve...but again, it's warmth...not grind. My Ashdown EVO II is warmth and grind all built into one....beautiful amp, and I found the Orange to be the closest to it toneally than all the others. No it doesn't fit into a gig bag pocket, but it is tiny and light, with a bag to carry it in. The Ashdown has more scope with it's EQ, but I actually think the Orange is louder....it's neither here or there really, but just saying. I still use both amps, they have applications that each of them suit. A lot of the time I just take both...good to have spares Si
15. I'm going for 22k, if it gets that far, maybe with a reserve of about 18k?? Si
16. Thats an entire retirement plan right there! And the history of the bass is pretty cool too, even if only half of it is true! Si
17. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...e=STRK:MEWAX:IT What a beauty! I love the 'Reserve Not Met' notice........No s**t sherlock Am watching it just to see if anyone reaches the, no doubt rediculous, reserve, What a stunning example though, I bet it plays and sounds immense Si
18. Best thing you can do is call or email Ashdown, they have all their serial number info pretty handy! They dated my EVO II head when I took it over to them, one of the UK built ones. Your cab looks very similar to mine though, and mine has to be 6 or 7 years old! Si
19.
We had two different parties who were previously interested but one is dragging their feet and the other is now subject to a NZ police investigation for fraud.
I LOVE this quote! Si
20. I can hear 19khz, then nothing onwards But at 26, I would hope that would be the case lol Si
21. I'm the same....always wondered why so many use straplocks, I can kinda understand it for high-octane stage performances (although I didn't use them during my tenure in a heavy band).....but jazzers and whatnot who have to change all their basses to straplocks.......don't get it! Si
