1.
I think when an artist ends up on a string packet, in a magazine with a product or on a poster, etc etc, then that's the real deal.
Yeah completely agree...all my artist discount arrangements have been because I've paid for and used my chosen gear for a while, and through various channels and for various reasons, become friendly with the companies as a result. This has led to me being extended discounts, but not listed on websites and posters etc....to be honest, I quite like it that way, there's none of that pressure that the OP mentions with having to sign agreements etc. I get discounts off the back of being a loyal customer and busy player, but at the same time I'm not tied into any exclusivities Si
2. I've had 'Artist discount' (40% usually) extended to me by a few of companies over the years, including a couple of small freebies (pedals etc), but I've never needed to sign anything. I think it really depends on your relationship with the company and whoever is running their artist liason! Si
3. No of course! As long as it's a BC'er lol Si
4. Overseas? Who's trying to join my '73 club? Si
5. Probably my fave Jaco line actually, he really shines. I remember learning it years ago, and it really is a joy to play, I'll go through it again now! Si
6. That looks amazing doesn't it! I think I would quite happily go for that at that price.....stunning refin! Si
7. The American Sadowsky I gigged was very average, the Sei 6 and Zon 5's I played were very poor sounding IMO. My Ashdown rig and 3 Fender Jazzes are the best I've ever tried/gigged! Controversial Si
8. Hmmmm, for some reason, I had in my had that Beedster spent about 9-10k for his '64 Precision? But now I think about it......I'm not sure where or If I heard that lol I guess it also depends on if you're buying privately or from a shop. I would expect to pay about £2600-3200 for a late 60's, so I suppose an early 60's...depending on condition would be 4-6k!? Si
9. Yup, but 4 grand cheaper than a clean one Plus I know that you can haggle that shop down a little bit. Me' Mate Dave bought the '63 refin on there Si
10. There you go dude! : http://www.newkingsroadguitars.co.uk/guita...BPrecision.html hehe Si
11. Just a little bump for this tonight Cheers Si
12. Looking awesome mate, and quick too lol! Is this going to be the natural Jazz, or colour finish? Si
13.
I'm afraid sussed this one out in an instant.
I didn't .....and I'm on the bloody staff! lol Shows how aware of the date I am Si
14. My 2003 S1 MIA Jazz is stunning, never played anything better. With more modern MIJ's (90's onwards), also bear in mind that they do the lower-end basswood bodied, japanese electronics ones, as well as the alder/ash bodied, US electronics ones......two different basic price points innit. Si
15.
Maybe firm up the rules a bit.
Which would no doubt be met with even more derision!? You see the catch-22 involved Si
16. Hi all, still on my 'backup lightweight amp' mission, and these have only just come onto my radar. What are people's opinion on these, I have a mate who said that they're good for volume, but have poor tone shaping. I assume they're a bit more 'wild' with their tubeness than Shuttles and Little Mark III's. But yeah, anyone have gig experience with them? Si
17. Very nice! Do you you know if it's been stripped to a natural finish!? Si
18. 6 this month and 13 in April April is good but roll on the summer Si
19. Hi all, If you're in the vicinity of Hoxton this Saturday, pop in and see my second gig with this wicked live HipHop band www.myspace.com/shallowandthedeep http://www.facebook.com/#!/event.php?e...7297&ref=ts £6 entry if you reply to me with your full name, £8 otherwise Cheers Si
20. But then you do own an Ibanez.......pot calling the kettle black?! lol I like the Thumb SC actually, and I'm a bit of a traditionalist with body shapes Si
21. Hope for us all.....even Pino does wedding gigs! Si
22. Whats the point of trying a bass out and then buying it online?? There's a great probability that the one you buy online will be different enough for you not to be happy than the one you loved in the shop! Support your bricks and morter music shops and do yourself a favour by doing so Si
23.
With all the massive love for The Gallery which routinely surfaces on Basschat (vaguely reminiscent of another ... no, let's not go there) it's worth bearing in mind that most people recognise that you pay for service. The Bass Gallery offers a lot of service.
Love that Jack!!! You know what though, Wunjo have always been nice and helpful with me, and willing to work with prices! BUT They don't very much (sometimes ANY) new bass stuff, most of it tends to be second hand and/or vintage But in the context of London, another +1 for the Gallery Si
24. The other way around it is to have the bass player or drummer start a song. Obviously only really works on some songs (Valerie, Bille Jean, Supersitition etc), but its one thing to remember!, then the guitarist can join in his part when ready. Still needs to sort out the time it takes to tune. I've heard from many people that Gibson tuners are rubbish, although I have no direct experience obviously Si
