1. In fact, looking at it, has the fingerboard been stripped as well?. Body needs a refinish, because frankly there's 'Mojo', then there's "I've just bought a sander, what needs sanding". If the guy is a stand-up guy, I'm sure he'd be open to realistic offers lol Si
  2.
Aleatoric, stochastic and generative musics by their very nature have to be defined theoretically before they can be performed (or even composed).
They might be pushing the boundaries of this particular discussion lol, but even here, surely the theory that is being used to define these pieces is the same theory that has been retrospectively applied to previous, already created, musical ideas!? Si
  3. It's worth noting that it's not 1000watts at 4ohms, it's 1000watts at 2ohms! Si
  4.
Explanation is not part of the creative process.
I wholly agree with this! Si
  5.
Most of the orchestral repertoire !
Sorry, I meant musical concepts as opposed to pieces of music! Si

    Basswood

As I mentioned in your Squier post, check out the MusicMan Bongo's for a 'higher end' bass made from Basswood. A lot of Ibanez Guitars also use it as body wood, including a lot of the Prestige range Si

    My gear

How does the 810 sound with that markbass head? I don't mean any offence by this obviously, but 250watts doesn't seem a lot to drive that massive cab!? Si
  8. It's a tree . A high end bass you may have heard of that also uses Basswood is the MusicMan Bongo! Si
  9.
Pete took the neck off, threw it in the bin Why he didn't bin the first neck in the first place is still beyond me...
But the moment someone plays a dodgy CS "OH MY GOD FENDER ARE CRAP" Every builder and manufacturer puts out something dodgy every now and then. It's relative though, Electric Wood maybe put out, what?, 50 basses a year when Pete was still going?. Fender, as an example manufacturer, put out a few hundred thousand!. Definitly pop into the Merchant in Colchester, and the Gallaryin London, take your bass, and have a play of loads others. It's a day out if nothing else Si
  10. All the Squier Classic Vibes (including the James Johnston Jazz) are basswood bodies Si
  11. I really really like mine, the build quality and finish is second to none! But I'm sorry, doesn't sound as good (to me anyway) as my US Jazz Si
  12.
John Mayer though? He's this decade's Garth Brooks.
Oh, and there's nothing wrong with a bit of Garth Brooks! Si
  13.
The track is called: "Who Did You Think I Was?"
You're right, 'Everyday I have The Blues' is the first track from the Trio set, think I was getting muddled up cos the OP made me put the DVD on and have a play along , love the intro to EIHTB. Si
  14. I'm having a jaunt back to Essex to see my parents, and will no doubt pop into the Merchants for a mooch about and a play! Anyone gonna be about? Si
  15.
You live in Colchester? Get thee to Status Graphite! Rob, Dawn & co. will doubtless have something that takes your fancy!
+1 Si
  16. It's probably worth popping into the Bass Merchant in Colchester and asking them to keep an eye out for one for you!? But don't CUSTOM order one.......bilbo won't be happy , buy off the shelf. hehe Si
  17.
In truth this, of course, is all that needs to be said on the matter
Indeed. It could also be considered a bit of an 'chicken-egg' moment. Was music first?, or written theory?. Most would say music was being made by humans before the species could write. So historically, one could argue that all theory is put in place retrospectively to explain what has creatively preceeded it. It would be interesting to know if anything musical has been written theoretically before it has been performed creatively, like some other 'conventional' scientific experiments. Si
  18. Sorry to hear about the theft mate! My mate had a load of gear, moulded in-ears & unit, mics etc, nickec out of his car, and he managed to claim on his house insurance. So maybe that's an avenue?! Good luck with the sale! Si
  19. The Sea Foam/Birdseye & Sonic Blue/Rosewood FIT! Never really looked twice at Stringrays et al, but if I was after an active bass....these would be high on the list! Si
  20. Absolutely not! Tell as many funny jokes as you like! Keep Price queries to PM's! Two different subjects Si
  21.
Dave Troke? Yes - he has depped for me in JTQ and borrowed the Squier. Top bloke and great player! It's not natural finish though if that's what you mean. I think they call it Fiesta Red, but it looks more like pink or orange really. I just got that colour cos it looks like Pino's! Andrew
Ah, that makes more sense as he's been going on about a Fiesta Red one haha, not sure where I got Natural from then! Yeah Davey T is a good mate, and like you said, a very good, hard-working player! Anyway, it looks like a beaut indeed. Maybe I'll point Dave in the direction of a Pino CS haha. Si
  22.
You do realise that your mishap has put the Shuker builds back 3 months ??
 Si
  23.
Well spotted! I was coming back from some gigs abroad and had to go straight to the photo shoot from the airport. I don't like to take my original 62 P-bass on planes so I had my 'touring bass' with me. It's a 1983 JV Squier 62 reissue with a Lindy Fralin pickup, also with flats. Andrew
Is that a natural JV?, I haven't seen the pictures. If so, I think my mate Dave has borrowed that on a couple of JTQ gigs!? Says it's an absolute peach! We still haven't found him one though haha Si
