I'm sending the neck back to Jon on Tuesday to see if anything can be done!. He thinks he might be able to sort something, but obviously needs to see it first. Agreed, but part of me feels that small cabs should be light, I wouldn't mind so much if it was a big-ass cab lol. I've picked up Epifani 4x10's that are lighter! The Mini 15 though is pretty light Si

The only gripe I have with the 4x8 really is the fact that mine isn't one of the newer neo ones, and so it's a lot heavier than it looks like it shoud be lol Si

The few bravewoods I've seen have had Fender Decals, although he says he doesn't apply them. odd Si

I love my mini cabs, BUT they come into their own when using them through a full PA. If you're using the PA for just vocals and relying on backline for instrument amplification in the room, you might be better going for front ported cabs. Having said that, this is because I usually just use the 4x8 on its own for those smaller gigs. If you're planning on using the full stack all the time, you may side-step those issues. Si

So, some of you may remember my Drop C Jazz bass that I have been using with my band FSOF, the neck was made my Mr Shuker due to some slightly odd specs I had at the time (pictured in my avatar) Recently I decided to put the bass back into standard tuning, which obviously involved some truss rod adjustment. Now, I really don't consider myself a novice when setting up a bass, I've done all my current batch, with great results. However, on this job, I think I just got a bit too complacent considering the difference with changing between long term drop tunings and just tweaking the rod for string gauges etc. I don't feel I was forcing the rod, but clearly I was. Stopped on a setting after some previous small turns and settling, tuned to pitch, played for 10 seconds and *CRACK*. Thats it, gone. Now to be honest, I'm not one for beating myself up for ages over something like this. The bass & neck have done so many shows, so from a monetary point of view, it's earned its keep. What I am REALLY angry about is that my complacency with a process that should have the up-most respect at all times, has negated the hard and talented work of Jon, as well as wasting some lovely woods! I'm currently emailing Jon to see if there's a solution, but suffice to say, I'm suitably embarrassed to be telling him the deal! Meh! Si

My Mini 15 is exactly the same enclosure size as my mini 4x8, I don't need to stack it on it's side to have the 4x8 on top! I love that particular stack, big tone, but still a controlled sound. Si

I too have a Precision fitted with a Jazz neck, not an issue at all, very tight neck pocket/joint too! Si

I'm going to sit down and do a proper comparison like OTPJ did, but what I will say at this point is that my Am Standard sounds pretty different to my Squier CV. The Squier sounds fine, but the Am sounds more 'complete', there is a wider range of frequencies in the sound, more clarity across the two pickups, it sounds a LOT livelier than the Squier. So from that point of view, my Am standard sounds better! BUT: 1 - It's subjective 2 - I would expect a better sounding bass from a more expensive bass Si

Do they do MIM Millers? I thought they were American or Japanese, never really paid them much attention. To be fair to the custom shop/masterbuilt Fenders, I think part of the glory of owning one of them is that you own an almost one off piece by a company that largely deals in hundreds of thousands of units. Luthiers like Shuker etc are renowned for one off pieces, so that almost devalues it, if you get my meaning. This is of course a very steep price for ANY bass imo, when I was looking at Custom Shops, I was looking at prices that equated to just over a quarter of this MM, and although I'm a massive Fender fan, I don't believe they've ever made a decent preamp.
