So the other point that Beedster bought up was the fact that CS's are mass produced (to a degree obviously)!? If I'm after a non-standard colour (sonic blue), with binding and different frets, would you have thought that there'd be more attention given to the build than say a stock CS '64 NOS? Si p.s. Jack, lovely bass mate....but I think I want something with an adult width neck lol

So i suppose this is another point of contention. How are CS & MB basses actually built? using CNC, or by hand? Using the same 'Meccano' way of thinking, as an example surely an Alleva Coppola isn't worth £4000 for just being bolted together!? (neck through's ignored ), hand built or not. Beedster - What was it about the CS's that didn't quite do it for you? Si

This is the only thing that slightly worries me.....is ordering blind. I have a mate who ordered two CS strats and loved both of them, I'd hate to go to this effort for something that is a bit average. I'm not expecting it to be the bass to end all basses, to be the holy grail.....it's a tool. But I would expect a step up from my US standard in fit, feel and finish. Hmmmm I guess there is the resale element if it doesn't live upto expectations.....it is the only way, after all, to get this spec bass as a Fender. Si

Ok so, perhaps a bit of context is needed! I'm very happy with my US Jazz and my '73 Jazz, but I saw this bass below and just fell in love with the spec. You can't get this colour etc as a standard Fender model. I know a lot of people don't get on with Fender's, but I really dig the brand, I dig the history and so a CS is just another step towards a nice collection I guess. Great basses are great basses, regardless of what's on the headstock...I know that, but for me, there's something about having Fender on there . I've only done one gig drunk, don't remember it and therefore can't remember enjoying it, which is a shame. Listened back to the tapes and my playing was alright, kind of just went onto auto-pilot I guess. But because of the amount of booze in me, I desperately needed a wee, so as soon as we finished rushed to the toilet, forgetting of course that we may have been called to do an encore........which we were. Walked back 5 mins later with the whole crowd watching me....before playing an encore that I don't really remember. Then snogged the singers ex-girlfriend while he carried my amp to the car haha I don't drink at gigs anymore Or at all really Si

FWIW, I love my 2003 US Jazz, it has the S1, and sounds fantastic to my ears with everything stock! Si

Hey guys! I'm potentially going to pull the trigger on something! If you saw my post in this forum about a particular Jazz bass, you have a good idea! Anyway, I've never played one.....a custom shop that is. I'm more than happy with my 2003 US standard jazz and my 1973 jazz. So, I want your opinions on Custom Shop basses. Anyone who is just going to say "go Lakland" or "go Sadowsky", please only do so if you've either owned a Custom Shop or have played one extensively Funx Si

Just learn the sections to the songs, have the structures in the back of your mind but be ready for their own arrangement of the songs. It's kinda the same as asking "for any changed keys, intros, missed/extra verses/choruses etc", but to be honest, key changes are what 5 strings were built for, and anything else can be spotted by listening and watching Good luck Si p.s. WoT's process is a good one, although for me, the key is irrelavent, it only matters for practising the song to the original perhaps, work out the shapes within the key.....because you'll need to move it about if you are playing in dfferent keys! BUT Key changes within the song are still very important......just be aware of the Interval

I'm gonna echo what everyone else has said. Just organise your time, start and finish essays ASAP so they don't clash with gigs. It does confuses me though when people want to rehearse 3 times a week or 9 hours and stuff......it just makes me think that they're no good lol, but that could be years of having to sound the best I/We can with minimal rehearsals! It is very unorthodox for the bands themselves to be handling PRS duties. The reason why the venue you're playing at has a live music license in the first place is to cover royalty payments to PRS. So you have to ask yourself, why are you paying the PRS......when they are at the same time?!.....assuming the venue has a licence that is! And regardless, you pay the 2% even if the other bands aren't registered, technically speaking everyone should be submitting setlists to the PRS for the said gig, and so if these original bands join up say 1 month down the line, they can back date their royalties to include this gig!
