2. My Grandma lives in Thorrington, I was born in Clacton and I went to the Colne High School in bsea! Hurrah! and erm......just sent an email to Status about the 'Vintage' series....oooops Si
3. OM NomNomnomnomnom Si
4. Whats wrong with it? Si
5. Yeah Bsea is really nice, whenever I go back for christmas, so for 4 or 5 days, I always get very very sleepy haha! But yeah, back on topic, maybe I should start looking at Statii lol, I think my tone GAS is cured with my Jazz basses.....but there's always 'Sexy Bass' GAS haha Si
6.
If you're heading to Status, best to phone and let them know you're coming. Then they'll be ready for you....
hehe!! I'm also from Colchester.........well...Brightlingsea, but again, consider Colchester as 'my town'. Big Colchester United fan too My parents still live there, so I get back every now and then, and always visit the Bass Merchant when I do. I really like the idea of owning a Status, home-town styley, will have to get around to trying one at a gig! Si
7. "T-Mobile have told me to start this myspace, so I have" ....is what it should say lol good luck to him Si
8. Great video, I love Meyer's playing
9. You don't actually seem to be selling this! So off to 'Bass Guitars' Si
10.
Not even slightly... you're in the middle of a gig and you want to adjust your volume. How do you do it without screwing up the blend? Don't tell me to turn both equally.... I won't believe you laugh.gif Or.. ditto... how to adjust the blend without screwing up the volume. You can't! It's a ridiculous arrangement.
Amps have volumes that are perfect for turning up and down! I actually treat my Jazzes as just having blends, my bridge is always maxed and I blend in the neck to suit. General volume is an amp thing, I rarely have to adjust mid-gig, and dynamics between different types of songs is in my fingers. Si
11.
Another reason I got the Deluxe - one volume control.
Surely this is the same? 2 volume knobs or 1 volume & 1 blend same thing! And if you don't have a tuner that mutes your signal......that's your fault lol Si
12. The neck is a beaut to play, and the sound is incredibly punchy! It's a bargain for the price for sure Si
13. A modern Dimarzio will have it written on the casing/cover. I don't think the earlier ones did though!? Si
14. I think the funny pole-pieces are Model J's My Ultra-jazzes just look like Fender style pole-pieces, albeit flush with the cover, not staggered/raised Si
15. I'm still waiting for you to take up my Bronco challenge . The thing is, even once you get down to the details, it's still immensly subjective. If you take the whole want/craving thing to it's conclusion, we'd be living as Buddhist monks. The meditation on, and realisation of the roots of 'craving' is the first chapter in many Buddhist texts. Similarly this means that your 'craving' to be a better musician, comes from the same place as GAS. So like I said, nothing actually matters (the line between Buddhism and Nihilism is a often debated), and the only way of differentiating what is more important is subjective opinion. Si
16. I now demand that Bilbo does a gig on a Squier Bronco, and provide us with pictures to show us that it's "just about the music" Si
17. Off to 'Gigs' Si
18. Ah-ha, missed that one mate Si
19. I'm just listening to their set at Maida Vale, complete with Strings, Brass & new songs http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00n6..._Clyro_Special/ (starts about 1 hour in I think) Sounding fantastic IMO, James' tone is pretty meaty and doesn't get in the way! They manage to straddle the line of polished band and raw energy almost perfectly! Si
20.
More piccies! Another view of the Barefaced cabs:-
Ah-ha, the only picture that proves I was there lol Si
21. Only gonna bump this once. Anyone available? Si
22. Oh I'm RUBBISH with dates, so I'll just do a run down. I think I've been playing about 9 years maybe!? Started with a tiny practice amp, I forget the brand, came with my Encore P-bass Perhaps a year down the line I moved up to a Hartke B90. 90Watt (100 maybe!?) 15 inch speaker, did a few gigs farting that out lol. Couple of years past that I went for my first Rig, an Ampeg B2R, Ampeg SVT 210HE & 115H. Had perhaps year of use out of these bad boys....huge rig for what it was lol. At the same time I had an Eden CXM-112 cab for 'practice', but did a few gigs with that as well, sounded great, but still pretty hefty for the apparent 'home' use I needed it for . Sold all of that when I got m Ashdown setup. ABM EVO II 500 head with ABM Mini48 & Mini15 cabs. This has been my rig for the past 5 years, sounds great, only needed one service this January. Perfec Si
23. Ooo, so this is the first time I've posted in this section haha. With the scaling back of activity with FSOF, I'm looking to get out and about with another originals project. I am going to be working full time hopefully, but still want to write and perform I'm doing a lot of covers work as well, so always in gig mode. Band wise I'd be looking along the lines of Biffy Clyro / Twin Atlantic type vibe, but also very interested in singer/songwriters in a similar vein to Wallis Bird....something emotive and fun I'm a bassist with a pro-attitude, pro-gear, my own transport, experience of touring (including tour management if that interests you), am working on my singing (harmonies etc). Close and very easy access to London Cheers Si
24.
The custom bass, YOUR custom bass, is definitely worth waiting for and go for the side LED's!!!
Don't let Bilbo hear you Si
25. Don't get me wrong, I agree with you in principle...I play pretty much stock basses, with only one of my Jazzes having a custom neck. At the time I couldn't find a neck with the spec I wanted for the the project, and so the couple of small tweaks I wanted were coupled with an aesthetic that I wouldn't have gotten from similar priced off the peg options. I think a lot of it is aesthetics over 'tone', which is fine. If looks didn't matter, we'd all still be playing 60's inspired Jazz basses with varying pimped out electronics for our individual needs. I'd actually be very interested to know, and obviously I don't want this to happen, if your Wal suddenly became unavailable forever, what you would end up playing? . If you couldn't find another Wal, you wouldn't have a bass made to the same spec?! Si
