Ultralites only take one screw to affix! So it's safe to say that they won't lineup with the current tuner screw holes! Four more holes won't hurt though, go for it! Remember to get the normal peg sizes though, as you can get Ultralites in a smaller peg size that will be too small for your headstock Si

Ummm, how about everyone playing because they enjoy playing and the interaction with others? I play originals and covers, bot bands I enjoy immensely! I've played in covers and originals bands before that I didn't enjoy at all, so I stopped, but those instances are few and far between, and live situation is generally fun and challenging, its what you make it! If music isn't paying your rent, but you're enjoying what you're doing......get a job! If music is paying, but you hate it.....you'll just end up resenting it Si

I've asked for photos, including neck stamps and pickup cavity etc etc We'll see what turns up! Si

I've got an R1 (120w-1x10) as a practice amp, I know its not the same but its in the same line so I assume similar components to a point! I've found that mine sounds great at low volumes, practice volumes. But when I've taken it to a gig, a chilled acoustic, not playing over a band but still needing more volume than 'practice', the tone seems to be a bit lacking. Conclusion: Sounds great at low volumes, doesn't really cut it turned up! But then the R5 is a much bigger amp, although I will say there's a reason why not many gigging players use Laney. But if you're in a 'beggers can't be choosers' situation, go for it, ideally you should try it at a gig first. If you're in no rush, and you're not sure, save up for something else perhaps. Good luck Si

Obscure Musical Backwaters - The Great SGC Nanyo Thread
Sibob replied to Happy Jack's topic in Bass Guitars
I kinda wish I still had my trans purple SB-335 Loved that Bass, was solid as a rock! Only sold it because I moved away from 5'ers, I'm still on 4's now, but would be nice to have that 5 back I sold it to someone on BassWorld I think, so if anyone has a SGC-Nanyo trans purple 5'er with soap bars and active/passive switch. Lemme know! lol Si -
More December covers shows listed, xmas eve, boxing day and new years eve etc! Plus FSOF January Tour dates will be listed asap as well as 2009 covers shows! phew Si

I think the main thing I'd have an issue with on this cab (aside from the fact it's in Newcastle haha), is the cloth front. I'd definitly need a normal grill. It would be toured heavily in the back of vans! Again, perhaps Jorg could send me a grill! I think (touch wood) someone is gonna take my EUB in the next couple of days, so let me think on this! Si

Cheers WoT I really do need a single cab solution to my two mini Ashdowns, and Schroeder seem to be at the top of my 'interested' pile. But I seem to be leaning toward the 210212 perhaps, maybe the 410, or maybe the 21012. The playing situations I'm in don't call for that 'pillow' that you talk about, my 'metal' band requires a tight sound because of the low tuning but I still like a bit of arse to my sound if you get my meaning. Maybe I should consult Jorg. Cheers Si

how much do you get paid for session work??
Sibob replied to CHRISDABASS's topic in General Discussion
This is very much how I've communicated my bass parts for the FSOF album to our Mixing guy! I recorded on cubase using a focusrite preamp and sansamp etc, then mixed them down and FTP'd them to him! Anyway, with regards to your situation Chris, I would be slightly inclined to do five tracks, receive the £500, then carry on with the other five tracks! That way if he's gonna screw you over, you've only done 5 tracks, slightly pessimistic i know, but keeps you somewhat covered! Good luck, post some links when it's all up and finished Si -
I'd rather use the DI out on my amp than take a chance that the soundguy is gona stick a battered "not good enough for vocals" sm58 in front of my speakers (yes this has happened before )
Precisely mate
On the Hartke the volume knob affects your onstage sound, the DI gain is fixed - just like using 99% of DI boxes
Cheers for clearing that up Alex! In addition to what has been said above: The Warmoth necks do seem to have a lot more about their construction, in that they are steel bar reinforced with two way truss rods etc. As a result they're apparently quite heavy, so bear that in mind! I've got an Allparts Jazz neck on my Precision bass, very nice, pretty skinny, thinner at the nut than my Fender US Jazz. But a perfect fit into the neck pocket of the Encore body! Si

Fodera Victor Wooten Re-issue Bass
Sibob replied to JakeBrownBass's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Yeah I know what you mean. Incredibly busy front wood, then boring as hell fingerboard/neck/main body! Quite odd! I'm not feeling it! Si -
I much prefer a DI'd sound than a mic'd sound And I take an interest into what my bass sounds like out front one way or another! And when I'm playing covers shows, we're doing the sound onstage! Si
I think like the Ashdown the DI volume will be a set level.
I can change the DI volume of my Ashdown using the Input Volume knob And use the Output volume knob for 'stage' volume tweeks without affecting the volume of the signal going to the PA How does it work on the Hartke? Si

The control cavity on my Encore bodied Precision 'parts' bass is tiny. The original pots were 'mini' pots, but they were knackered! I got replacement mini-pots from Allparts, and I'm pretty sure they came with all the 'mounting hardware', nuts & washers etc! Si
