1. Ah see I quite like the spinning wheel, its The Fox that is generally pants lol, but will be good to see you Dave. Yup still Steve booking them! Si
2. I use my EVO II 500 pretty much flat with my passive USA Jazz bass through my 4x8 & 1x15 and i get a bright but full, growly sound. The only slight EQ I use on the amp is to compensate for the room/stage, but its never anything extreme. Si
3. Lol, thats almost the complete opposite sound to what i get out of my exact same rig! Maybe it's your bass Joke! Si
4.
Are the two mutually exclusive? Can you not be both a player and a collector? I would if I could afford to (with regard to vintage instruments...)
I think the general rule is that if you're a 'player' (which i take to mean you earn a vast bulk of your income from music), you can't afford to collect really rather expensive vintage instruments, and if you're a collector chances are you went down a job route that didn't allow a music career. Also, most hardcore 'collectors' wouldn't buy something that was too 'mojo'd, or not all original, so again....lotsa money There are of course exceptions to the rule, musicians who have done exceptionally well in their career who can afoord such things, but they are few and far between! I was looking at WoT's Jazz, but couldn't shift my upright in time, gutted indeed! Si
5. I've always loved the bass parts in a lot of the Disney films music! Lion King and Little Mermaid has some great lines! Si
6. Prices would help laddyjimboylad Si
7. i HATE music as a competition lol (that's not bad grammar, I needed the 'i' to be lower case to highlight the capital HATE) haha In any case, if there is no voting for a winner and just a feedback system, isn't there already a forum for this? The 'Recording' forum, where people can upload videos and tracks and get opinions etc I'm much more likely to upload into that forum Si
8. I use whichever finger or part of my hand that does the job best for that note.... .....so yes....i do use my little finger In fact even more so then other people perhaps, as when i'm in 'Groove' mode, I use my Index and Little finger to fret and use my ring and middle to mute the strings. When the playing is busier or more 'scale' based, then it's one finger per fret. There always exceptions to the rule, but thats my general rule of thumb........no pun intended Si
9. It's not a VB, its an FMT Jazz Deluxe Si
10. My friend just picked up the 5'er version of the KSD with EBS pre for £600, very nice basses so have a bump! Also, might i suggest slightly amending the title of the thread, people might think you're selling a 'Bass Collection' brand bass! good luck Si
11. How are you finding the DiMarzio steve? I have the same p'up in my white Precision project! I really like it, growly but a lot hotter! I love the grain in that body, and the custom pickguard is growing on me! Si
12. Is this the Alder bodied version with US pickups? Si
13. First Signs Of Frost @ Luton Student Union tonight with 'Devil Sold His Soul' + others Poster below!! Hope to see a couple of people there! Cheers Si
14. I also wanna be there when tBBC asks the question!! :-D, am only just outside london with constant jaunts in. Maybe we should mount an 'intervention', all of us just turn up....."you know how you're perceived??" haha Si
15. A tiny bit like you? About 5'10", shaved head, balding, short beard, scottish! Si
16. +1 for Brian at Wunjo, top guy!! My friend bought a 1965 Gibson acoustic from him, nothing at all was to much hassle! Si
17. Yeah, I had noticed these in my subscription copy, but forgot to post about it! And yeah, Hi Ed, nice to have someone on the board doing well! Si
18. I did mate, but they seem to rate 'output' in different ways, DiMarzio with a number, SD with a little symbol. The DiMarzios have lower resistance though, suggesting that their output might be higher? God i'm such an electronics noob haha Si
19. I don't suppose anyone knows how these compare to DiMarzio Ultrajazz pickups, mostly in terms of output! Cheers Si
20. I'll have the strap buttons and corresponding screws off the butchered 6'er if you're getting rid of them! Looking forward to seeing more of this boyo!! Si
21. Cheers mate! (do you think they've noticed that me saying "thanks" bumps it again....ssssshhhh) Si
22. I think with Custom Shop stuff, you can have what you want, I've seen CS 70's basses. Like you said, you're not sure if its a Time Machine series or not so might just be a straight CS 'reissue'. I've seen second hand relics/CC's/NOS go for around £1,200! Not sure how 'standard' CS's match up against the Time Machine range price wise! I'd be semi-interested, but my Upright is still sitting here lol Si
23. Pre-gig bump Si
24.
This bass has had more owners in a month than I've had new Precisions in the same period
You've had a period? Si
25.
I joined my first band with a gig in two months. I went out the following Saturday and bought my first guitar. You can play along to cd's until your knob falls off. You only ever learn how to play music by busking/jamming with other people.
+1 Although its an old thread, another tip i'd throw into the hat is: Learn the parts of the songs so you know them like the back of your hand, don't worry to much about arrangements, unless a band has said that they do everything exactly like on the CD, most bands play about with arrangements so you should have an open mind and be listening out for the changes. Glad the gig went well! Si
