1. Looks fantastic mate! How are Jon's Precision pups? Si
2. Personally i don't want Basschat to get like Talkbass or Dudepit where there so many different forums it just looks and feels messy. I mean, if we assume that ERB is 7+ (when i was playing 6's i didn't wanna talk about 6 string bass, i wanted to talk about bass), theres gotta be maybe 5 or so people with those instruments, then we'll need a forum for stick players, then one for 5 string upright players, it just gets a bit silly. Si
3. We're all playing Bass right! Whats the difference? Si
4. "Rail Bass" I was getting excited, i thought it was a bass that ran on depleted uranium rather then 9v batteries!! Si
5. You're playing a lot of Primus covers at gigs to necessitate a trem unit huh?! With regards to "pitch shift on sustained notes", i find that adding vibrato with my fingers adds enough interest without needing to cut massive holes in my bass! lol Si
6. How much extra would the unit cost with a DI in a larger box? I'm only asking about the DI because the Punch Factory has one, and in one of the band situations I'm in, i control my front of house sound rather then a sound man. Cheers Dave Si
7. WD Music Products should have them Most parts places like them and AllParts will do the job and have MIA, MIM, MIJ pickguards! Si
8. Hey Dave How would you compare this unit to the Aphex Punch Factory? I use the Aphex and really love the sound actually, but its built like a cake! And after just one tour and 6months of gigs 3 times a week its starting to get buzzy/loss of signal on the ins/outs. I don't even stamp on it, it just remains on, on top of my amp. Would it possible to add a XLR DI signal output? Cheers Si
9.
You could save a lot of work, time and money by buying a Digitech Whammy pedal surely? i thought that's what most bassist's did... i know it's what i'd do. They're nothing but trouble, i've had to live with 'em on guitars and no way are they going to invade my little bass world!
Whammy pedals give you pitch-shifting and harmonising effects, not tremolo effects!
just had a look on the website - OMFG! $529! thats like £260
I'd say thats about right for a 6er bridge with a unique trem system. Thats before you add the price of having someone rout out the necessary hole! What will you actually be using it for mate? Si
10.
It could have been worse - you might have asked who James Jamerson was.
Setup of the century? ha Si
11.
o, i think i get it, he plays with stevie wonder, right? that makes sense when i read through it.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnddddddd there it is Go get the back catalogue Iwtait! Do it! Si
12. My mate plays one of these, albeit the maple board version, and it sounds great! Although i'm not sure what the difference is between that and my standard 'merican, apart from the blocks and binding of course. Si
13. Fit! Si
14. The Decal Shop stuff isn't that great, can't comment on the others I got a Fender decal from Trey at brauskoh at hotmail dot com (he has an ebay shop, but just email him) And it was fantastic, you can see it in the 'Build' forum under my 'Encore Rebuild' thread on the 1st page. He's in America, but it worked out about 3/4's cheaper than The Decal Shop Si
15. Perfect!! Ready to back up for sale when i have the money!!!!! Muhahahahahahahaha! etc Si
16. Oooo very possibly Paul, not sure I've tried looking for some pictures of basses from the same era ('79-'81), a 1979 and a '78-'81 on ebay didn't have any other decals other then whats on mine Again, i'm not really trying to fool anyone, i just like the way the decal looks. So if i need but can't find the 'contour/patent' bit to add, i'm not fussed really. Si
17. Alrighty, better get this up before Jim posts pics of his 1960 Jazz lol Heres the headstock with the decal applied: The body: So there we have it really........ I tried it at a covers gig last night, and it was great, one thing i will say about the DiMarzio is that is its fecking loud!! Like...REALLY loud lol. So we'll see how it goes, might drop a Wizard in for some Vintage tone if the DiMarzio doesn't work out. Its been properly shielded now as well, by a friend, replacing my teenage attempt seen above. You could say that my efforts were 'FOILED'!!!!!! HAHAHAhAHAhAh...hahahahahaha...ha.<ahem> So yeah, my first ever bass gets a new lease of life, and is getting gigged for the first time in about 6 years Was a fun little project. Cheers Si
18. Very insterested in both these Makes and models at the moment! So good thread Am i right in thinking that the UK Schroeder Rep is a member here? Cheers Si
19. You played badly because you're playing a Warwick whilst wearing a Fender tshirt! Classic mistake! What year is the Streamer? Looks real similar to my sisters! Si
20. Sibob

Ive got my 9

How do you set the intonation? And how the hell does that string retainer stay on with all that tension? Very 'Ken Lawrence' Si
21. If i had the bunce, i'd jump at this in an instant!! Typical situation of no money wrong time lol Si
