  1. I believe they're kinda a US based equivalent to Moollon, in that Mas really wanted to create vintage spec Precisions as accurately as possible, although he offers way more custom options than Moollon. For example some of his necks are flat-sawn (whereas it's commonly thought that quarter-sawn is 'better'), because that's what Fender did back in the day. I tried a few at NAMM, and they're excellent as you'd expect, just very vintage'y Fender style P's. From memory, I think they come in at about $3500 for a basic spec (ie before fancy woods etc). Here's one on Reverb (with a quarter-sawn neck interestingly) straight from them that would work out to probably close to £4000 with postage and VAT I imagine: https://reverb.com/item/34502862-olinto-by-la-bella Si
  2. Missed out on an Ibanez Blazer bass on Facebook last night....and now searching around for another (I want another P style bass for tape-wounds)....someone convince me I shouldn't? lol

Do they do a double-breasted version of the Ibanez Blazer?

You want a bunch of GAS loaded Basschatters to advise you not to buy something you want? Good luck 😂

  3. By all accounts, these were VERY well received by all who played them at NAMM in January. Si
  4. Yeah this isn’t a thing 🤣 Stunning P, wish I could (still got my Elrick to shift), GLWTS. Si
  5. Haha, this exactly! It mainly just seems that many people have realized they’re doing the ‘wrong’ gigs. Can’t wait to get back! Communicating onstage with other musicians by playing is were it’s all at for me. Si

  8. Hi there, You’re quite right in how you reference the differences between the Lakland US 44-64 I had (which I sold to pay for the Moollon), and now the P-Classic IV. The 44-64 was very much ‘modern vintage’, basically 60’s spec, but poly finish and a more modern pickup wind. Whereas the Moollon is as close as they can to 60’s vintage (ebony board excluded, although it looks the part). Other than that, I’d say they were equal with regards to general fit, finish and overall quality, both excellent. I still have my Lakland US 44-94, and it’s one of my fave basses ever. I should also mention that Lakland have a lot more customisable options available, if that’s important to you. Si
  9. SOLD Moving this delay on as it simply doesn't get used unfortunately. It's hand-painted over 'kid paint' (explanation on their site here: ) Full description is: "ANOMALIES is Fuzzrocious’ first delay offering. It takes a PT2399 delay chip, chops the circuit down to a bare bones operation, and transforms it into a very special beast. It’s lo-fi and glitchy, so don’t expect pristine, pretty repeats. Imagine being able to play a delayed signal at one speed and be able to send the speed into near-quadruple time or near-1/4 time via a momentary footswitch. It’s real. You can do it. For real. With higher repeats (near and into oscillation territory), this creature is messy, so don’t expect it to do perfect loops like your digital delay/looper, but if you work hard enough, it will help you get pretty darn close and sound different from the rest of the crowd. That last sentence is a properly constructed sentence, even with all of the commas. At less repeats, you have the ability to alter the speed of your delay time on the fly from normal to fast or normal to slow. There is an internal trimpot (see description in the Instruction Manual below) that will allow you to control the slower speed setting as we as the mix of dry/wet." No trades, can post for £5 or can meet/collect around Hemel or High Wycombe areas. Cheers Si
  10. 🤷‍♂️ All I know is that's what I paid. Si
  11. Yeah, if you can deal with the wait and have the cash, worth doing. To be fair to the seller, they retain their value pretty well, so I think the price is pretty spot on. Si
  12. A Jazz 4 is $2299 from them, I can’t remember exactly, but I think a 5er is around $2599. Plus around an extra $100 for a metallic finish. That includes shipping and a case (hard or soft), but import/VAT etc will be on top of that. For my P-Classic that just arrived, import was £113. Plus a 10month wait 😊 So basically you’re saving around £250 or so, plus a long wait, if you go for the used one. Si
  13. Completely agree, my eye-rolling was the OP bringing it up as (what reads like) an issue in his initial email. Si
  14. Best shortscales out there! Love mine! Someone snap this up! Si
  15. I was mainly talking about the OP’s email 😉 Si
  16. Of course there’s nuance, but come on, I can write a polite email in French and Google Translate it. I don’t write a stark collection of short sentences just because that’s all my knowledge of the language permits lol. Si
  17. No, it’s not.....but it’s not exactly the nicest customer email either IMHO. Of course if someone isn’t happy, that’s fine, and the onus is on the builder to remain calm and helpful, but I see both sides. To me, looks like a normal nitro finish. Foam in the truss rod cavity? Come on, it’s clearly just to plug it, take it out if you don’t like it lol. ‘Things in the fingerboard wood’? What things? You mean the kinda whitish stuff in the Rosewood pores? Welcome to open-pore wood....it’s completely normal. Scratches in the back, yeah not ideal, but welcome to nitro, nobody buys a nitro finished bass and gets annoyed and scratches and bumps. So absolutely bring up the fissure at the neck pocket, but to me, the initial customer email (with quite an attacking vibe quite frankly) was largely unwarranted. I wager that if the OP had led with only that as an issue (and not all the other unwarranted stuff), Adrian’s reply would have been more helpful. Basically, choose your battles. (Foam in the truss rod cavity 🙄 lol) Si
  18. This. Although I understand people who don’t like the aesthetic (legitimately, we’re all somewhere on the spectrum right?!). Solution? blade style pickups.....simples. Si
  19. My feeling is that the tonal differences with the tone all the way open is 80% strings tbh. I think once I put 3 years gigs onto these Moollon La Bella’s like the ‘71 ones have, it’s going to be even closer. That said, I hear the difference with the tone ‘off’ too, the Moollon is rounder/smoother, and a little more ‘muscular’ to my ears. Not better, just different. Probably just a capacitor difference though. Feel wise, the M has the 60’s ‘C’ neck over the Fenders ‘B’. So a bit more shallow (front to back) and a bit wider. While I really love the neck on my ‘71, the M’s neck is super comfortable to play to me! As someone mentioned, almost certainly the Moollon is just more consistent, as a ‘new’ instrument you’d expect that. But I think it’s going to age beautifully and just get better and better! As for what I use them both for, while I don’t get super worried about gigging my ‘71, I anticipate the M taking over the bulk of the gigs tbh, although I’ll probably interchange them a little. Ultimately they do the same job, a P with flats. The ‘71 has been with me for 7 years or so, and isn’t going anywhere...but the Moollon is ‘mine’ if that makes sense....all the wear and history will be from me 😊 Si
  20. I suppose that sounds fairly reasonable. Oh well, as you were, back to this nitro sunburst beauty 😊 Si
  21. I should also say that the Moollon is a little bit louder too, not by much, but it's audible. I matched the levels in Logic as best I could to keep it purely about tone. Si
  22. I just spec'd my old bass up again, and give or take a few quid, it came to £1299. Glad I gave them a try when I did haha Si
  23. And bloody hell their prices have gone up! I remember paying £800 for a chambered 33" Jake P/JJ in Shoreline Gold maybe 5 years ago?! Nice basses though. Si
