    SOLD

Thanks, I do remember that one. It’s a burst though, which I’m trying avoid really. I’m in no rush, my Expat is great ☺️ Thank-you though. Si
  2. Yes, I would suggest recording direct (ie bass straight to interface), the amp is doing nothing for you other than EQ, which you may as well do in the DAW and take a connection out of the equation. Experiment with your laptop plugged into the mains and just on battery. I've been in some situations where plugged in is better, and just on battery is better....who knows. Also try using as short a jack cable as possible between your bass and the interface. Si
  3. They’re almost certainly made to order, and they’re a custom builder, so they’ll probably be open to build whatever iteration of the bass you’re interested in. Si
  4. Just out of curiosity, would you not be after a transparent sound rather than a ‘warm’ sound when recording DI? Then process it to taste during mixing? Latency is a lot to do (although not entirely) with the USB driver being utilised, our latest USB driver would improve Gen 1 latency, however as you mention, the Gen 3’s are a marked improvement in all specs over Gen 1’s. Also, zero (or ‘conversion-only’) latency is achievable with all interfaces assuming they have direct monitoring capability. Otherwise, your Computer spec, DAW choice, session size/heft, sample rate etc will also contribute to latency figures along with interface and it’s driver. Si // Focusrite
  5. Lockdown has me enquiring about a Limelight. DOH

Any excuse is a good excuse for a Limelight.

It’s either that or an original 70’s variant of this colour scheme...which isn’t going to happen lol

  6. Weird, doesn't seem to work for me. Mac with Safari or Chrome, or even if I download the PDF onto my desktop. Fingerboard changes and thats it. EDIT: Sorry, just seen that it needs to be specifically used with Acrobat! All works fine Mmmmmmm, Walnut finish with black scratchplate 😍 Si
  7. Tidied the post. Please keep all personal comments to PM's. Back to selling the bass. Thanks Si
  8. For balance, they also mention about the Audient: "Granted the price is higher than budget audio interfaces. In fact, the iD4 (entry-model) has only one 1-input. At the price you pay for the iD4, you could get many other audio interfaces with more ins and outs." Of course, my point here is that people will always have a choice regarding performance vs price, and there's always a line to be drawn with regards to what someone is willing to pay when you start getting into the margins spec wise, not to mention other elements (as the article suggests) such as customer support and software/plugin bundles. SOLD

Hi all, Back up for cash sale, only trade options would be an Elrick standard Jazz 5 (not sunburst). I love this Evolution, sounds awesome, light swamp ash body and looks great. It's a solid 9/10 for condition I'd say. A couple of small indentations, but nothing I'm able to photograph well. Stock, these basses come with Bartolini single-coils, however I've swapped those out for Bartolini dual coils that came direct from Rob Elrick. So spec is: 35″ scale Swamp Ash Body 8.5 Lbs (approx) Satin Matte Black Finish 3-piece Quarter-Sawn Maple Neck Ebony Fretboard 24 frets 2-way adjustable truss rod Bartolini hum cancelling Dual-coil soapbar pickups (Made in the USA) Bartolini 3-band pre-amp w/3-way mid and active bypass (Made in the USA) Fully shielded control cavity Black Hipshot Ultra-light tuners Black Elrick bridge – by Hipshot (Made in the USA) Dunlop Dual Design strap buttons (Straplok compatible!) (Made in the USA) £1550 - I'll include a Fusion Urban gig bag in excellent condition! £1500 - No Case Shipping would be difficult just at the moment, but we can talk about it as an extra cost, but happy to organise a socially distanced handover as a preference. UK only for now. Cheers Si
  10. What do Limelight Precision’s tend to come in at new nowadays?

My only frame of reference is a J bass from 2018 that was just over £1,100.  Had a maple blocked and bound neck that would have added a few £s to the price I guess.

You can get a Squier upgraded with a fake Fender logo on it for a couple of hundred quid.

  11. SOLD Since getting my Serek, I haven't really picked up the Mustang, so have decided to move it on. I'm not in a massive rush or need to sell it, so we'll see what happens. As title states, 2006, MIJ, all original. It has some knocks and bumps (pictures attached to post), the previous owner has also drilled three extra strap-button holes, presumably because they were left a handed. Overall I'd give it around a 7/10 for condition. Bass is a nice Orangey-Fiesta Red. No case unfortunately, and difficult for me to ship it currently, so I'd probably suggest a socially distanced exchange/pay pal type situation?! Currently strung with La Bella Mustang Flats, although I think I have some suitable roundwounds if you're interested. The bass (with flats) can be heard on this track: https://open.spotify.com/track/6vZW77FIMnfRlNfSRxkAIt?si=uNBYiy7_QdW3p-WKxnbAMA Not sure on an exact weight but around 3.5kg, action is great and plays beautifully. SOLD Collection from Hemel Hempstead or High Wycombe. Cheers Si
  12. Generally speaking, you won't even really hear the benefits of 96kHz unless you're recording audio with a lot of nuance, spoken word, perhaps a close-mic'd string quartet, acoustic folk etc etc. If one is recording 'rock and pop' music, ie music that distorts the sound-wave in some way (and of course I count 'synth' sounds found in pop and other music in that), then really 44.1 or 48 is more than enough. Increasing from there will increase the size of your project files, although also improve your latency figures, so there are pros and cons that come with the choice. Si // Focusrite
  13. Does anyone here own an Elrick NJS 5 in Walnut Brown?

Gotcha, yeah I have a couple of SHO's at home that I've built, but as you mention, they go from unison as opposed to having a grounding volume output control. Just checked out the LPB, and I reckon that looks perfect, cheers. Si
  15. To be honest, I'd always be looking to DI my bass if the signal is going to be relatively clean, EQ it in the DAW. I'd only consider mic'ing a cab or using a cab simulator if I was going for a distorted bass tone. That said, there's so many decent cab sim and overdrive plugins now, I'd probably still just go DI and dry lol Si

If I could just have it's boost section, then yes......but it's to go in another pedal, so needs to be little Cheers though Si

Hey all, Is anyone aware of a boost kit that doesn't start from unison, that starts from -∞ and then also boosts past unity. Might have a little project that could benefit an output volume control that goes from fully cut to a little boost (doesn't need to be crazy). Thoughts? Si
  18. A fair bit of audio spec improvement has been made between the iTrack Solo and the new 3rd Gen Scarletts, not to mention extra features such as 'Air'. By 'more serious', it might be worth having a think about what that might mean in the mid-term (ie how many inputs might you want to record simultaneously etc), because you might decide that a few more inputs/outputs might be helpful, even it's just a 2i2 which allows for two Mic/Instrument/Line, as opposed to one Mic and one Instrument/Line that the Solo offers. Hope that helps, if not, feel free to drop me a PM or facebook message Si // Focusrite
  19. No bother at all, enjoy ☺️ Si
  20. Hi all, I'm not sure what is being referred to as USB noise?! It could be a mis-translation with terminology, but it is very rarely the interface (whatever the brand) or the USB cable that causes humming/buzzing. As above, it could be a multitude of things such as bad electrics, other electronics in the vicinity affecting speaker monitors that are using unbalanced cables, a cheap laptop with poor power regulation etc etc. In any case, should anyone be having ongoing issues with getting the results that they expect, it's perhaps worth contacting our Technical Support team for help and advice. They're particularly busy at the moment due to a huge increase in people getting into music-making and recording (which is great), but they will come back to you asap: https://support.focusrite.com/hc/en-gb/requests/new All the best Si // Focusrite Media Relations
  21. A few points to note from what I've read: - iTrack Solo will come with a Lightning connector for your iOS device. Previous versions had the 30 pin cable included, however these are legacy units and you should ensure you're purchasing the Lightning connector version. They also come with a standard USB cable for connection to computer. - Scarlett Solo 3rd Gen has better audio specs than it's previous 2nd Gen iteration, and the iTrack Solo. As such, if iOS recording is not required (ie you're just using a computer), I'd get the Scarlett Solo 3rd Gen. Please note, that while not officially supported at this time, Scarlett devices will work with iOS devices as they are 'class compliant', however the bus-powered Scarlett's will require the Apple camera connection kit in order to power them at the same time. Scarlett's have a USB-C connection on them, but come with a cable that connects to a standard USB-A port. They will of course work with a USB-C to USB-C cable if that's the connection on the computer. Hope that helps, please let me know if you have any further questions Si // Focusrite Media Relations
