Yes, rolled edges on Gen 2 V3’s Si
-
I did have some Jazz knobs delivered for it, but (even after doing the research) they didn’t fit. So they went on my Jazz fretless, and will look out for something else for this. Si

Took a Sire V3 5 string in as a trade for an amp a couple of weeks ago. Basically as new, however the preamp had seemingly taken a knock in transit and a couple of caps had broken off. ”No bother” I thought, the bass sounded great in passive mode, so I set about removing the preamp, and wiring the bass fully passive with series/parallel switching on push/pull pot. Not my neatest work, but it sounds great! And while the knobs are just place-holders until I can find a matching set that fits, a few people have mentioned that they actually like them haha...I’m not sure: Si

The site works for me now!? Si

Oh it’s not mine, but you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better Precision than a Moollon at that price 🙂 Si

Just buy this and you can thank me later: Si

Sorry, missed this. Yes, you can run a bass straight into the PureAmp without a preamp. You'd simply be hearing your bass (be it passive or active) through the GR power amp, no amp EQ, just it's initial gain-stage. Si

Yeah got the solder and iron etc, have made a lot of DIY pedals Cheers Si

Hey all, I'm going to have a go at wiring my own Jazz Bass harness. I was going to get a wonderful Kiogon one, however in an effort to save some money, and do something new, going to try the DIY approach. I have the various parts now, apart from the wire. I have a bunch of simple hook-up wire from building DIY pedals, but it seems the wiring in guitars might be a little more sensitive?! Any recommendations? As well as where to purchase too. I don't need lengths of the stuff, just enough to do one Jazz harness. Cheers all Si

Behringer criticism of journo stunt goes wrong
Sibob replied to Clarky's topic in General Discussion
If anyone wants a great read, go and have a gander at Behringer and Music Tribes (parent company) Glassdoor reviews. For those not aware, Glassdoor is a website that allows employees, current and previous, to anonymously review companies they’ve worked at. Si -
As has been mentioned above I expect (just skimmed it): RCA - Always unbalanced, even if there is a different connection on one of the ends. Lower output (quieter) Jacks - Either balanced (two black stripes on tip), or unbalanced (1 black stripe). XLR - Always balanced Unbalanced cables will be more susceptible to noise from longer cable lengths and external factors (other electronics in the vicinity, bad power supplies, dodgy lighting etc), if yours are quiet, no bother, but changing to balanced cables is generally the first port of call if noise starts appearing in your signal between interface and monitors. As mentioned above, balanced cables will also give you a little more output, allowing you to not have to drive your monitors as hard. Si

Not yet, no funds really (just moved), but it’s on the radar for sure, love the idea of a 30” 5 string, especially from Jake. Si

Tis indeed a Serek, a beautiful Midwestern II 5 string in Shell Pink Si

These look to be hand built (to whatever degree), prices start around $3000 by the looks of it. Si

Yeah, literally a gain control (so can take a bass direct), and a volume. Perfect for putting a preamp (such as the Trickfish or Noble) in front of it 🙂 Si
-
I'm afraid I can't comment on the API Tranzformer or Basscis bpa, but I would absolutely describe the Minnow as clean and musical, in fact, they're the two big reasons why I bought it. As well as really being onboard with the ethos of Trickfish, where they've come from (lots of design elements from Mike Pope etc), lovely bunch of people running that company! I would have bought a Trickfish amp, but they're a bit chunky for me at the moment, so instead I bought a smaller power amp (GR Bass Preamp 800), and will run my bass through either my Minnow or Noble (on a different board) depending on the the gig and bass I'm using. Cheers Si

I do indeed work for Novation (and as a result, Focusrite, ADAM Audio etc). The patches should all be a similar volume, although of course if a patch is more focussed on low end, it's perceived volume through say some cheap speakers or headphones might be less than a patch that is more lead-line focussed (higher pitched content etc). From memory the main volume control is in the analogue path and so can't be saved per patch, as such I think probably the best way would be to use the mixer section and set the oscillator level (balancing as needed across 1, 2 and sub) per patch, and then save that patch. There's not a way of 'matching across all patches', but if you're just talking about going between a few patches for your live set or whatever, this is quickly achievable. For anything more depth, give Technical Support a quick call (PM me for the number if you need it), and they can go into a bit more detail Cheers Si

Where is the mini-mixer getting it’s signal from? The computer? Or the bass station? If from the computer, then because the BS2 can act as a midi controller, it could be triggering something, but that sound would need to be open in a DAW, although some sounds (like XLN) do have their own stand-alone GUI’s that can open separate to a DAW. Cheers Si // Novation

BS2 is an analogue mono-synth, and as such is not capable of piano type sounds...just to clarify that. As such, whatever you’re hearing is probably an erroneous tone from somewhere. Presumably you’re coming out of the Line out to go to your mini mixer? If so, if you plug in your headphones to the line out, do you not hear the tone similar to the headphone out? If not, it may be a cable or mini-mixer issue rather than the BSII. Si //Novation

Sorry, completely missed this. I have heard no chattering noise with mine?! Presumably there isn't anything on that video that speaks to what you mean? (and that I might have subconsciously filtered out of my hearing). But no, I think the MXR is excellent. I'll forever be an OC2 where I can, but the MXR does an excellent OC2 impression for the size, and the exact reason I'm using it here. Si

I basically haven’t started yet. This year has been a flurry of buying and selling in preparation for moving into my own place. Once I’m there (in a couple of weeks), there will be zero purchases......because it simply won’t be possible financially lol. Si

I’ve never quite understood the ‘hanging basses on the wall’ thing, with most houses going hot/cold/hot/cold constantly. Unless you’re particularly attached to the aesthetic, I’d leave them in their cases, creates a micro-climate each bass, more likely to hold their setup for longer. Sorry to not be helpful with your question, but just thought I’d mention . Hope you get it sorted either way though! Si

Gibson just getting weirder and weirder.

Ah apologies, serves me right for not reading further back. Si -

Sure, but those are for purposes of wider-reaching legal implications....these are guitars lol. I work for a music gear manufacturer and we have the same ES/PP/MP production stages, while PP are usually representative of the final product, we don’t want them in the public domain for a myriad of reasons. But we don’t wantonly destroy them, they’re often just circulated around the office for internal use, or sometimes raffled off for staff with an agreement that they’re never sold/given away etc. Si
