  1. Not much at all, by design. Moollon have their P-Classic, and their J-Classic, they have their specs based on the builder's old Fenders, and they don't deviate from them. They are meant to be vintage correct instruments, not a custom spec build. They have a full FAQ on their Facebook where they openly say 'if you're looking for a customisable spec, go to another fantastic builder like Sadowsky or Lull etc, but if you're looking for a vintage spec P or J, that's what Moollon do. However, they do let you chop them about, so if you wanted a J-Classic neck on a P-Classic, totally fine. Si
  2. You’d be surprised (although “a lot” is of course subjective), but worked out to about £1900 inc import/vat costs etc Si
  3. Gah, would be all over this if we knew what the wood was! Si
  4. So far I love it, I know the C-width Precision neck is a bit love/hate with bassists, but I’ve had it before and kinda miss it on my ‘71 (B-width). But yes, very playable! Si
  5. Indeed ☺️ Yeah I’ll do a quick little audio comparison with my ‘71 just for fun. Si

    Moollon

    Arrived today 😄 Si
  7. So after ordering 11months ago (almost to the day), my Moollon P-Classic IV has arrived. It got delayed by about a month due to Covid-related logistics issues, but other than that, it was a smooth ride from start to finish. I primarily went with Moollon because I don’t believe that there’s anyone hand-building instruments from scratch (Including hardware) to this level of ‘vintage Fender’ for this kinda price. Plus Tim Lefebvre and Kevin Scott rock my world lol. Had it strung with La Bella 760FS from factory, because that’s what will live on it for long-term I imagine. And with my 1971 Precision (because why not): Cheers Si
  8. Moollon in the house :D

  9. I suppose gigging outside, with distancing regs in place, would be less of a problem if everyone wore a mask huh Si

    SOLD

Bump with some extra part-ex options. Si
  11. You picked them for reasons of tone though, as opposed to one being ‘better built’ than the other. I simply asserted that they are as well built as one another, both being accomplished luthiers. Si
  12. Naaaaa, not possible to say that, they’re both excellently built! Whether one prefers one over the other is subjective of course, Wilcock has built basses with Serek’s B90’s in, and Serek has any number of pickup options....so ‘fatness’ is simply down to that. Si
  13. Literally no-one has asked for this! Good luck to them, I respect anyone who can make an instrument, but I wouldn’t part with £200 for one, let alone £6k Si
  14. Moollon P currently in customs awaiting attention.......now comes the real wait lol

@Quatschmacher Ah awesome, I saw that posted on Instagram by one of the staff there, thought it was a great spec! Great job!

  15. I'll let you know the import costs when it arrives . But yes, ballpark. Si
  16. Yes, Moollon work in dollars. That price includes delivery, but not taxes/import (no company would include that). They do have some limited costed options available too, metallic/sparkle finishes are extra etc. Si
  17. I was actually very close to changing the spec of mine (mid-build queue) after I saw him play at Jazz Cafe with Forq. For me, I’m not aware of anyone building true 60’s spec Fenders (less the ebony fingerboard) for this price. YJ has even researched his own metallurgy mix for the hardware to match Fenders recipe. They’re a good grand cheaper than Custom Shop. I was also swayed somewhat by Tim Lefebvre and Kevin Scott using them as their main instruments Si
  18. Exciting! I could see myself ordering another P (although not yet by any stretch), probably blonde with maple board (like Kevin Scott's). Si
  19. God no, blasphemy on a Precision...C width 😁 Si
  20. They’re $2249 new (although I think like $100 extra for a metallic/sparkle finish). The second hand cost is similar to the new cost just because they’re so sought-after. I think the current build time is around 10 months. Mine is currently in the post to me 😁 Si
  21. Worth noting that the stock MK1 p’ups are also split-coils, but clearly voiced differently to the Aguilars. Si
  22. Yeah the old 55-02’s had it when they they had Barts, but moved to the Hanson/Lakland stuff after. The 55-01 was actually a bit of an accident, when Lakland were waiting for the first 55-02 test models, the overseas factory didn’t have any MM/J pups, so they stuck a couple of soapbars in so Lakland could at least see the bass build quality. The rest is history. Si
  23. Not sure, I just left it inside haha. Yeah I would say that the pickups made the biggest difference (they sounded way better than the MK1’s in passive mode), but figured I’d do the preamp too while I was at it. Si
