  1. I’m picking up a Trickfish Minnow at NAMM and will probably sort a new amp out too. Other than that, I think I’m good for a bit. My Moollon will arrive in April, but that’s paid for. So I think I’m going to say that I’ll join in for as long as I can from end of Jan....if I can do another 6months I’ll be happy. Plus I’m moving out on my own (from a marriage), so that will be expensive lol. Si
  2. The Mono sleeve is too short for a Mustang, although fits my Serek shortscale (ie a stumpy body with a 2+2 headstock). But yeah, the Gruv Gear Edge is the best I’ve found so far. Si
  3. Precisely!! Where did you get it from? Was it a perfect fit? Si
  4. Exactly right!? I like it how it is, but the black will give it a more vintage ‘yellowed Olympic white’ feel I think. Si
  5. They're heeerreeee, NBD thread up :)

  6. I've been after a Precision 5 string for a while now, there aren't really many options about (that are passive and not P/J), but managed to find a Fender American Professional P5 for an excellent price. Very impressed with it so far, came with a nice setup, and I of course have out La Bella flats straight onto it! Wasn't sure about the Antique Olive in photos, but it's actually a really nice finish in person, especially with the mint scratchplate: However, I also managed to pick up one of the Player series (MIM) Precisions for a good price too. I'm actually very impressed, needed a tiny bit of work on the setup, but it's dialled in and it sounds excellent, finish is great....if I keep it, I'll put a black scratch plate on it likely: Si
  7. Off the top of my head, about £800 (but don’t quote me), but talk to Taka and he’ll let you know Si
  8. Rebirth Guitars (UK based) make a great bass IV for not much money: Si
  9. Yeah sure, if that’s what you want/need while tracking then all good 🙂. If a very specific tone is needed while tracking, often the case with guitars, specifically distortion), then I think it’s necessary, otherwise I’ll track my bass dry 90% of the time (straight to the interface), and add the ‘valve warmth’ or ‘tube compressor’ or whatever plugin at the mixing stage, purely because that’s whatever the mix needs. Si
  10.  2 more Precisions en route to me 🤦‍♂️

I'll see your two P's and raise you one Tony Franklin Fretless and one SR5.

My wife is going to murder me...

I do have an even number OCD thing. I can't relax with music volume or car heating set to an odd number etc.

Basses? I'm about to hit 5. Thanks for reminding me.....

  11. Seems a bit odd, but whatever works for him lol. I found that La Bella’s sound great and ‘played in’ out the pack, I had Chromes on my ‘71 before that, and they only really started to sound ‘right’ after about a years gigging on them. Si
  12. Another 44-64 with a proper width nut, none of these Jazz widths GLWTS, they are wonderful basses! Si
  13. Cool bass, really like the Racing Green colour. Presumably it's hand-built at that price-point, but yes they'll do very well with a Tribute version I should think. Si
  14. There will be a market for the spec, high-end active classics while retaining the 'F' branding......but I'm also underwhelmed by the colours. Olympic White being the best it seems, the two-tone is quite nice. Cherry-burst is never a good idea 🤮 Si
  15. The Jazz 5 thumbnail was up for a split second just now, down again now. So clearly they're mid-upload. The J5 looked nice, tobacco sunburst I think, presumably with other options, £1959 There was a P/J 4 string too, and a J4. No P5. Si
  16. Oh well, at least there's the Am Pro P5, think I'm gonna go for one of those in the next couple of weeks. Si
  17. Too much to hope for a P5 I wonder?! Si
  18. I love Jaco for what he did for the instrument, but I always tend towards his big-band stuff. If you're not a fan of the solo bass stuff or 'fusion' stuff, try the Word Of Mouth album. Si
  19. Hi all, Does anyone have one of the newer American Professional Precision 5s? If so, would be good to get the weight of yours from you, build up an average. Cheers Si
  20. Lakland 44-64 sold, sad to see it go. But Moollon P incoming in April and my eye on a Precision 5...which should hopefully be with me by mid-December :D

ooo, looking forward to seeing your Moolon P
But if you're getting a new Moolon P... why do you want another P?
.......said the man with 4 x P basses! lol

Because more Precisions is good Precisions 😂

  21. *Headphones/decent speakers needed* These are the 760FL on my ‘71 P: These are the 760FS on my Lakland 44-64: Si
  22. I'm essentially a Precision player at heart, but if someone said "What is your signature bass"...in many ways, like the thread is doing...I'd say the Lakland 44-94 they built on my request. Basically a modern passive P/J bass with that fantastic 44-94 fret access: Si
  23. I'm not really sure how I feel about this types of promotions. I certainly understand that it's a great deal if you win, but not sure I'd want to spend £50 on nothing as most of the entrants will be doing. Again, not sure how I feel about them.....as such, won't be entering. Good luck to everyone though, does look like a lovely bass Si
