@Quatschmacher Direct with them, i’m pretty sure they can do that :).

I think I actually saw a US Lakland with that setup on Reverb. Will drop you a message if I can find it

Thanks. I'm checking out the Lakland PJ from here tomorrow. Where did you order your Moollon?

@Quatschmacher Ordered the Moollon directly with them :)

  3. Nick Beggs, Ariane Cap and Cody Wright have also been announced. Si
  4. Nice to see another player from Hemel. GLWTS Si

Then it must be a Lakland, surely? 🧐

@CameronJ Similar......although currently a minor procedural stumble at the deposit stage

  6. Bass Direct will be able to hook you up http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Gruv_Gear_case.html Si
  7. May well just be that Fender want the exposure of releasing model (as it's getting here), but don't actually want to make any........stranger things have happened. Si
  8. Use gear that’s class compliant, and you won’t have to worry about driver compatibility on Mac anymore. Easy Si
  9. It states that both a ‘58 & ‘59 are available. It’s almost certainly the 59 pictured as it was a transition year for rosewood and tort. As you’re probably alluding to, the ‘58 will likely be a maple f/b and gold anodized guard. Si
  10. Gear4Music have the previous generation of KRK's Rokit 5's for £125 each: https://tinyurl.com/y45mqc2z If you're talking about £100 budget for a pair.....they're probably not going to be great. Si
  11. Wider at the nut and generally more shallow than the 70’s B necks . I have a Lakland with C neck and I love it. Si
  12. Downtune it to D standard, stick a capo on the 2nd fret, boom, shortscale Si
  13. A couple of little changes, swapped out the True Bypass Looper for a TC Spark Mini. The TBL was a nice failsafe, but I've never needed it live (famous last words) and when I have a couple of basses with lower outputs than my Precisions, functionally, the extra signal into my pedals so I don't have to mess with their settings is more helpful. Also changed out the COG Mini 66 for a custom Schu-Tone 'Finn Drive' (named by me), it's a 3BOD clone with diode switching & relay bypass. The COG is excellent, but because of it's placement on the board, and that I only tend to use that pedal for quick drop-ins and out again, I wanted something with a relay/softswitch. To my knowledge, there are no other bass overdrives on the market in a 1590a size with relay switching......Dan at Schu-Tone absolutely stepped up to my challenge! Si
  14. Hi all, Very much a mega feeler at the moment, I love this bass, largely a trade post as mentioned below, looking for a early/mid-60's C neck Precision. However, whilst it's fantastic, and has done a lot of good work with me, I do prefer 60's Precision neck's, so I'm going to try and scratch that itch a little more. Heavily gigged because it's excellent, and it's in a played condition for it's age, but nothing too crazy, plenty of nicks, a couple down to the wood, but mostly just really nice wear, To my knowledge (certainly I purchased it as such), it's all original, including the case although that is looking tired now, although all parts present and working, definitely more for provenience than use. I haven't ever taken the neck off, but I will for a serious enquiry. Truss rod absolutely fine and neck nice and straight, currently setup beautifully with La Bella 760FL flats. Nut width, 42mm. B profile neck. Can be heard on the entirety of this album (headphones needed): And here's a little Pino I transcribed with it (headphones needed): I don't really want to sell this without having a nice early 60's refin to pull the trigger on fairly quickly. As such, this is almost just a trade post, with me able to add cash obviously. Even willing to add my Lakland US 44-64 if of interest. So if you are perhaps looking to release some cash from a early/mid 60's Precision (probably a refinish/stripped), would be happy to talk about it with this as a part ex. I reserve the right to drop this craziness at any point, it is a cracking bass. I don't have a weight until later, but it's under 9lbs for sure. Many thanks Si
  15. 1590a Bass Overdrive with relay bypass in the house....they said it couldn't be done, Schu-Tone Pedals have done it!

Dim question - what's the difference with a relay bypass over the standard type?

    2. Sibob

      Sibob

@Daz39 The type of switch really. Most standard ‘true bypass’ pedals use a 3PDT mechanical footswitch, hence them being quite clunky and relatively heavy to operate. When utilising a relay bypass, the actual on/off happens within the relay, so you can use a soft-footswitch to simply send a signal telling the relay to switch the effect on/off, it’s not reliant on a mechanical action from the footswitch.

Ultimately their are pros/cons to both, and different people have different preferences, but for the particular situation I’m in, softswitch is the way to go :)

  16. It's probably worth noting here that in many cases, an interface can work in 'standalone mode', ie it routes audio when not connected to a computer. As such, you can certainly use an interface in place of a practice amp, not needing to turn on the computer and either playing through your studio monitors, or headphones, both connected to the interface. Similarly, unless you're specifically relying on a particular processed bass sound that is being provided by a VST within the DAW, you'll probably find that direct monitoring your input signal from the interface will suffice, certainly I almost never record 'wet', preferring to track dry, then mix and apply effects in the mixing process. When you're direct monitoring via an interface, latency has zero effect, this is because you're feeding your monitors/headphones straight from the input of the interface*, and not having it travel to the computer/DAW, then back to the interface/monitors post processing. Obviously when you're direct monitoring, you can still hear any tracks/sessions being played from the computer for play along etc. *Also, when you're direct monitoring, there is still A/D/A conversion, but that conversion is <1m/s, so will never be heard. It's the journey to and from the DAW, and the processing being added in the DAW, that potentially adds latency. The latency added very much depends on the complexity of the session you have loaded (amounts of processing, VSTs, midi etc), and the power of your computer. If you have a decent computer, and not much of a hefty session, reducing the sample-rate within the DAW will usually lead to next-to-no perceivable latency if you want to monitor through the DAW and not direct from the interface. Happy to answer any further questions if needed Simon // Focusrite
  17. Ah you should have said Hi, I think they said they’re booking us again, so next time :) And yes, if you see/speak to Harry, give him my compliments for sure! Thanks very much again! Si
  18. @police squad Oh wow, thank-you very much, incredibly kind of you! Fingers got a bit cold toward the end (for everyone else, gig was outside), but was a fun gig for sure! Were you playing as well PS? I understand that a number of bands played around the town yesterday? The band in the pub over road after we finished were also excellent, guy playing a Shuker, with Vanderlakey cabs, nailing the 70's Disco lines. Si
  19. Do the materials those UK builders use need to be sourced and manufactured in the UK? 😉 Si
