Buying a gift for someone else is fine. Replacing a broken piece of kit is fine Si -

Yeah, you’re gone haha. Don’t worry, I think i’ll be gone by the end of the week haha....:and I started the thing lol. Si -
I've had stuff done by Metropolis and it's great. I know Real World Studios also have a remote mastering service too. Really, I imagine it largely comes down to your budget. Si

Why are you called Geek99? 😂 Si

Not sure I can take credit for whatever you’re referring to.....it almost certainly wasn’t me Si

All makes perfect sense. Yes the 18i20 sounds perfect from what you describe Si // Focusrite

Hey bud, TL;DR Scarlett 18i20 or Clarett 8Pre to start your search Could you clarify point 5 for me? You're highly unlikely to find a bus-powered interface with the features you require, but I also just want to clarify what you mean by "internal PSU". I take it to mean that it should simply require an IEC cable, and not a wall-wart?! Pending your answers, then from a Focusrite perspective, you're looking at a Scarlett 18i20 (USB), or a Clarett 8Pre (USB or Thunderbolt). If budget is no object, any of the Red range would be great too. The Red 16Line would be the only interface in the above line-up which would require a connection adapter for your computer, but I'm guessing the Red's are overkill for what you need. Let me know if you have any other questions. Cheers Si // Focusrite

Serek seem to be garnering a lot of praise around their Midwestern 2 (30” scale) 5 string. All in the construction and the string Si

If there was something in the pipeline, but it wasn’t publicly announced yet, they wouldn’t tell you....no manufacturer would. Si

Essentially their US range is their custom-shop, everything is made to order, including the Classic range. Most people do just order one of their pre-spec’d models from the US range, but the scope of customisation is certainly there (excluding the Classic range). For example a 44-64 with a 44-60 neck isn’t going to cost you extra (to my knowledge), so would essentially be a custom-shop order. Si

Yeah just placement and body-shape really, they'll be the same pickups (Hansons or Aeros if it's an early one) Si

The Skyline DJ4 I had was also excellent, probably the best ‘Jazz’ I’ve owned. It got sold to help buy my custom P/J 44-94, which is much more the sound that I’m after (Precision with a bit of option). Si

I know the guy who runs BPU and he’s a really nice guy (or certainly was to me). Given the history of Ric’s on this forum because of the tactics employed by certain senior staff of theirs, I don’t blame anyone for simply wanting to avoid the topic altogether. Si

Not quite a ‘68 (although probably all from the same parts bins) but my ‘71 Precision sounds 90% the same as my Lakland Precision pickup. The Lakland is fair bit louder though. I did do a shootout, albeit with normalised volumes. The ‘71 is first, the track then swaps with the Lakland 44-64 every 4 bars: They’re available here: https://www.lakland.com/product-category/pickups-strings-merch/pickups/ Si

Hi all, I’ve finally pulled together, in the form of a (long) EP, ‘Onymous’, a number of noise/ambient looped pieces that I’ve recorded over the years. Happy listening: https://simonpoulton.bandcamp.com/ Cheers Si

I came across this deal on PB which I promptly purchased, 89% off, so sitting at £3.95 currently. Excellent morphing glitch VST, lots of presets and delay/filter/pitch shifting options for your noisey, fx-ridden tracks: https://www.pluginboutique.com/product/2-Effects/53-Multi-Effect-/1917-Convex Si p.s. Might be worth renaming the thread as 'good VST deals' in general?!

I’m still in...... .....but I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t been window shopping Si -
Very kind, thank-you Si

It's all a lot of fun to be honest, not least because I get full creative freedom The 'Just Love' album is all my '71 Precision. The 'They Say' EP is my Lakland 44-94 (Dancing In The Kitchen & Not Wrong), 55-01 (Where On The Map) & Bass Collection fretless (Don't Say). The new EP (out June 7th) will be my Lakland 44-64, 55-01 & Fender Mustang on the single out now (Twenties). Live, I just use the 55-01, but angling to try and get a 55-64. Si

Hi all, For those in and around Maidstone, Kent, we have a show at Pizza Express Live this coming Saturday (13th April): https://www.pizzaexpresslive.com/whats-on/jocee If you're into optimistic Soul with a Motown flavour, come eat pizza and have a listen Cheers Si

We do our best With regards to a ‘high level of tweaking and optimization’, whilst the Forte was great, ultimately it was a 2-in, 2-out USB device, it was always going to be relatively limited in it’s function (albeit whilst sounding excellent). If you were to compare the Forte to our Clarett or Red range now (Clarett 2Pre being closest in I/O), the sheer level of connectivity and routing options available is night and day, not to mention performance optimisation being the best it’s ever been.
