  1. When a product is discontinued, we will support it (software/driver updates for new operating systems etc) for 2 years past the discontinuation date. I’ll need to check when the Forte was discontinued. Even with current products, we only ‘officially’ support current operating system versions plus the previous version of said OS. As you can imagine, it’s nigh-on impossible for us to test ALL historical versions of Windows and OSX when we have to update software for a new operating system. So whilst generally it will be fine unless Apple/Microsoft choose to issue some serious change, as I say, we only ‘officially’ support current and the previous version. Whenever a new operating system is issued by Microsoft or Apple, we always test all of our products, including a number of popular discontinued products and publish a full list of our findings, such as the below: https://support.focusrite.com/hc/en-gb/articles/115005393865-Focusrite-product-compatibility-with-Windows-10-Fall-Creators-Update- As you can see, Forte is still working nicely with the latest Windows 10 update, although there are some issues with some programs that utilise WDM such as Skype. That being said, with both current and discontinued products, our Tech Support team will ALWAYS try to help with any issues found, so whilst they might not be able to guarantee a software update for an old OS or a discontinued product from 10 years ago, if they can find a workaround, they will. Si // Focusrite p.s. Official wording of our Support Policy: "Our team of technical support engineers offer free worldwide technical support via e-mail and Livechat and are available to call in the UK, Germany and US on local rate phone numbers. This support is offered for the lifetime of your product. The only exception to this is with regards to software drivers and other software where due to the ever changing OS platforms we aim to support all products for at least two years beyond the point the product is discontinued (no longer available for general sale), unfortunately it is not always possible to offer support in the form of software and driver updates beyond this period. There is, however, no limit to the time our support team will be on hand to help you get up and running and overcome any technical issues you have using our products."
  2. Any decent luthier should be able to do this locally for you I would have thought?! Si
  3. Love it, very cool! Yeah a little more mintyness in the pickguard would really make it legit, but whatever, that can happen down the road as a retro-fit maybe. Great job! Si
  4. This is my 2006 Japanese Mustang with La Bella flats (the Mustang specific set). Definitely need decent headphones/speakers Cheers Si

      Very nice! :)

  6. It’s not really fair comparison. Basschat is all private sellers, Andy Baxter is a dealer, you would expect to pay more. ‘67 + two years instrument inflation from above private pricing + dealer pricing + custom colour = £2500 about right IMO Would it be cheaper privately, almost certainly, but you have to wait and know where to look Si
  7. Why don’t you take the SBL free trial and see what you think yourself. The free content doesn’t really reflect the style of the paid content (as you’d expect). Other teachers are available. Si
  8. Just to update this thread a little bit (there are some posts from 5 years ago), the Focusrite Forte is no longer a current product (so may not run as expected on newer operating systems), but most importantly I'm happy to say that our drivers have come a LONG way since 2014. But as I said, just in the interest of an updated thread. Cheers Si // Focusrite
  9. Just sent this around at work, great job! Si // Novation
  10. It’s probably worth noting that, as far as I’m aware, there’s no suggestion there is anyone being treated like this currently, this thread is a hangover from from what happened around 3 or 4 years ago. Si
  11. I was also caught up in the initial issues, was having a body built and sent off all the other parts (incl an official Fender neck) plus a deposit. Howard seemingly went through a very bad time, and I ended up talking to his son, after around a year of chasing as politely as I could, about how we might sort it. It was everything I could do to recover the various parts (minus the proposed body of course), but lost the deposit. I ended up being happy enough with that after assuming it was all lost. Si
  12. Yes! Great bass! Still using it? Si
  13. Yeah I would say that La Bella's have a pretty standard tension as far as flats go. You might try the La Bella Low Tension flats if the neck starts to struggle with the FS's. The LTF's feel really nice, but I wasn't keen because they only come in quite a light guage. Si
  14. I think TC have had a load of new versions and product shakeups recently, so they're probably just having a massive sell-through of stock. Si
  15. Richard Bona is the same, bypassed his Fodera preamp since forever, not sure what he does with the new Markbass sig. Si
  16. Learn all the things about 'music' you can, then apply them to your chosen genre through the lens of 'you', simple as that. Thinking that you should or can only learn specific things within the genre you like is only going to stunt your musical growth. Si
  17. Just to be clear, people are complaining at paying around £12 per video lesson with Gary Willis, on top of the the same again (around £11) per month for full access to all the other content in the academy. I'm not saying you shouldn't complain, affordability and worth is totally subjective to an individual, but I do think it's important to break down the costs as opposed to simply getting angry at larger numbers! Si
  18. That’s my experience of the free stuff, not the paid stuff. Makes sense. Si
  19. I believe that Janek is about £100 an hour, there or thereabouts. He does maybe 10 of those a year (maybe) and charges the amount he thinks will bring in the players who see’s the worth, but it’s expensive enough to curb thousands of enquiries.....basic business acumen, same reason that Fodera can charge what they can. They’re just people who have to manage their work/life balance whilst being highly in demand. Si
  20. Do Terratec have any Tech Support that you can call to get some 1-2-1 help? Whilst it might not necessarily be a sound card hardware issue, they will be best placed to guide you through any known issues with their driver and Windows 10 (if it is an old card/unsupported driver, some significant changes happened in Windows 10 which might be scuppering you if driver development hasn't happened), but also then hopefully guide you through the optimum setup for their interface/driver on your computer for recording. Si
  21. If Laurel can look like that, how on earth are Fender making it look how it does in those Squier photos?! It's a shame, because if I was in the market, those photos would stop me buying. Si
  22. Ah that’s good then, must just be poor oiling or lighting in those stock photos then! Si
  23. This, then research further. But to be honest, it will have been ‘produced’ and often studio gear isn’t what they used live etc etc. Best way is to experiment. Si
  24. Also forgot to mention that the 44-64 is quite a bit louder than the '71 (as you'd probably expect, although the '71 isn't a low-output bass), so had to normalise them in Logic. Si
  25. You’re probably right, would be great to see some photos of Laurel in a healthier/properly oiled state. Si
