  1. Fantastic work!! Wish I had the space and monies for this! If I didn’t already have an old Precision, I’d be taking a look at this for sure!! GLWTS Si
  2. Cheeky interim purchase before my ACG arrives. Cheers Jonze! This is a 2006 CIJ Mustang, always fancied one, and the wife has a couple of bass gigs (she plays a Mustang guitar), so made sense! Liking the Fiesta Red more than I thought I would, but was the right price, so don’t care either way! Cleaned up the fingerboard (needed a little TLC), fitted some La Bella Mustang Flatwounds, overall a very cool bass Si
  3. Depends if you really want one or not doesn’t it.....it’s significantly cheaper than a new one! Si
  4. That's exactly how you use it, it's just a Midi controller, no onboard sounds etc. So you'd connect to your computer (where your sounds are stored) via USB, and then connect the computers output (typically via an interface) to the desk/PA etc. Si
  5. Mustang has arrived! :D

@Happy Jack she’s dead....and don’t pretend any  of us are sad about it!

  6. To be fair to him, Tom has simply put the amount of work into his basses that he deems to be necessary. Everything else, be it hype or hyperbole is other peoples doing! The man simply builds basses and has priced them at a point where he can earn a living and not kill himself doing it. Good luck to him, he's a lovely guy and very good at what he does. Think they're too expensive? Don't buy one.......if you can find one for sale Si
  7. I suppose at this point it’s worth being grateful it’s not something like cancer! Also a bit of a wake-up call not having all your eggs in one basket, ie gigging, I imagine that this problem might not have flared up so quickly if you had only been gigging 3 times a week and not 7 (or more?!). This may well be the kick you need to diversify while you heal, teaching theory, doing some writing & production etc With regards to playing, have you tried with a Pick? Or is holding it painful? Si
  8. Hi all, These have been used a fair bit, but just means they've bedded in and sound great. I did a comparison between them and the new La Bella Flats I replaced them with, and they essentially sounded the same, which just goes to show that Chromes start quite bright, and eventually play-in to a tone similar to new La Bellas. I had them on my Precision, so they're cut for 4 in a line, but could be cut for 2x2 & 3x1 I imagine. SOLD Cheers Si
  9. Oooooo, that finish is awesome!! Someone is in for a treat! Si
  10. I don’t think any of those are ‘consensus’?! You’ll probably find that each of those points has a 50/50 split on here! Si
  11. Have seen a few of the performances, so here's my arseho......I mean opinion: Florence: Just awful, shouty and not in a good way. Taylor swift: Limp, loads of vocals on track despite 4 BV's, one dance move, disingenuous crowd banter. Billy Ocean: Three songs that I love, good band, but he had a habit of singing one song awfully, then one excellently, then one awfully, then one excellently....you get the idea. Christine & The Queens: Genuinely excellent, fantastic singer, really interesting to watch, a few really nice simple tunes with great melodies. Paloma Faith: Another meh from me......she's kinda interesting, but doesn't quite get over the line for me. Decent band though. 30 Seconds To Mars - WTF? Rock band, turns up with drum kit, another guy on keys and sometimes bass, then EVERYTHING else on track (all guitars, BVs etc). Total poop (despite some big songs). First Aid Kit - Decent country rock, strong vocals, great band. Thumbs up. Beck - Despite only knowing one song (I know right....my bad), and not having Mr Meldal-Johnsen anymore, really enjoyed it, slightly odd 'covers' section to introduce the band, but whatever. Great set, great band. Si
  12. Mustang bass on the way, shortscale La Bella flatwounds ordered, boom!

I must admit, I like the look of the Mustang.... but I don't need another bass! lol
I'm sure you you't actually "need" another bass either Sibob - but that won't stop you enjoying it :)
Let us know what you think.... no, wait, don't..... or I'll be getting GAS for one ;)

@Marc S You're quite right, certainly don't need it....but always been curious about Mustangs. Think it's going to be fantastic for recording and gigs where we don't have much space to transport gear. Also my wife has taken on some bass gigs, so will be perfect for her too (she plays a Mustang guitar).

  13. One is black (Bootay) and one is white (Larry), just the white one pictured Si
  14. Woodwork done apparently! Fretwork, sanding and finish next! Si
  15. I wouldn't get to caught up with the on-board effects. Just record clean and add everything later in the DAW using VST's etc. If you're talking guitar/bass effects, then if you have them available, use separate pedals in-line with the interface input. That way you're not restricted by the Zoom sample rate effects issue. Si
  16. Hi all, If you’re London based and fancy a night out, an artist I play for has her EP launch at Pizza Express Jazz Club in Soho on Sunday 8th July. More info and tickets here if you’re interested: https://www.pizzaexpresslive.com/whats-on/jocee The album we released last year, Just Love, is on Spotify here: https://open.spotify.com/album/7kHdvRF4nKlSkcY1jFl590?si=1fczvk7rTmyL1ERuTcFByA The new EP will be on there after the 8th July presumably. Pitch Shift

Slightly confused about your requirements, E to D makes sense, but do you mean you want A to go UP to B? Or down to G? Either way, there's loads, but my personal favourite is the Line6 M5 (or any of the M series, but they get pretty large if you only want one effect). I set up 4 different patches that shifted my whole bass down a semi-tone each time, so a patch each for Eb, D, Db, C tuning etc. I even did a whole gig with the whole bass down to D (D, G, C, F), with me playing a position up obviously, and no-one noticed the tone as sounding overly processed in any way. Si
  18. Hi all, Rainger Dr Freakenstein Dwarf Bass - Mad fuzz with clean mix and includes Igor modulation pad. As new, just used at home. Boxed - SOLD £5 postage or collection from Hemel Hempstead/High Wycombe Cheers Si
  19. True, although I'm assuming someone called that solo, rather than Norm just choosing to rinse the ending of the song. Who know's though, if the former, you tend to do what your boss says. Si
  20. Lol, I didn't get that far, but having listened again.....it's still better than the vocal. I possibly overstated my enthusiasm in light of the horrendous performance from Mr Kimball, I'd like to substitute my superlative for 'fantastic', although concede he's not a great soloist compared to many. But in all seriousness, when did we start judging bassists on their ability to solo? You heard Rocco Prestia 'solo'? No-one would argue that he's not incredible Si
  21. Yup, certainly looks it! Incredible player (i’m focusing on the positives). Si
  22. Yup very true, although it's always worth balancing between that significant increase in CPU usage and project size vs latency, which might be completely side-stepped by direct monitoring (depending on your tracking needs). But year, lots of different ways, all have pros and cons and very much depend on what you're trying to achieve Si
  23. SOLD Hi all, Not using roundwounds on my 5 string anymore, so these spare Dunlop Super Brights can go. Unopened, unused (obviously), as new etc etc. I'm 90% sure these are the Steel ones (as opposed to Nickel), but will double-check when I get home. SOLD Cheers Si

    What midi?

Hey, I work for Novation, so am clearly biased. Will leave others here to make suggestions, although do let me know if you have any other questions about the Launchkey 49 mentioned above by someone else Cheers Si // Focusrite & Novation Media Relations
