I would also say that yes, it very much is worth it. Behind the paywall is not only a LOT of content/lessons plus constant guest lectures etc, but a well populated forum of people also taking the lessons, which is very helpful to get thoughts and ideas from people undertaking the same lessons as you. However, just be aware that there are a lot of sites putting out very good bass content, so it's very much worth doing your homework that the platform that you're going to invest in is the one for you. Janek Gwizdala, Jeff Berlin, Adam Nitti, Tony Grey....they all have 'Academies', and they'll all be offering fantastic content, but will almost certainly work in very different ways. I'm not sure about the others, but Scott offers the 14 day free trial, definitely do that and see what you think . Si

Cor I hope you're never put in charge of minimum wage Supply has been soaring because expectation, due to lower priced bands, has been dropping. Everyone charges the same (or similar), quality expectation rises, supply falls (wheat/chaff and all that), prices rise. To stay relevant and answer the OP. £150 minimum for a function, again, have been paid upto £250 for a dep gig, more on significant dates (NYE etc). Si

I’m not entirely sure I believe that. As has been said, most have live music because they want it, not because it’s a massive money-maker, so budget appropriately for something they love. You would also see pubs becoming more discerning and the general standard of ‘pub bands’ rising as better bands/musicians see it as a viable option, probably bringing in more punters. Bearing in mind doing a pub gig and taking home £100 each used to be the norm 10 years ago, certainly where I am. But as bands come in and say ‘oh i’ll do that for £150 all in’, venues see that as the new norm, and wonder why punters don’t stick around for the second rate band who just want beer money. I’ve seen agents send around emails saying ‘oh how much can you do this gig for’.....encouraging bands to undercut each other! What happened to paying appropriately and fairly for the band you want? Thats what’s paid by pubs because there are bands who will go out for it. Simple as that. If everyone sung from the same hymn sheet, the pay would go up. Si

Well if you have to The nicest fretless I ever played was a Zon 4 string at the old Bass Gear showroom. Don't know what happened to it, but whoever purchased it has an incredible bass! Si

Depends how many you consider bulk. If you want to set yourself up for a long time, just go straight to the distributor and see if they'll sell to you direct in 'bulk'. Similarly, try talking to the manufacturer directly, they'll almost always try and help, and if not, will probably point you to the distributor anyway. Worst case, most shops should do you a deal on large orders. Si

It's been 12 years since 10,000 Days was released . To be fair though, it was 14 years between APC's eMotive & Eat The Elephant (15 years if you count Thirteenth Step as their last 'proper' album) I reckon the new Tool album will drop mid-late 2019......and I think it will be the last one too. Si

I think this is the case most of the time, the famous one being the whole Maynard talking about Lachrymology thing. Was just a joke, but lots of people took it seriously. One of my favourites being the lyric "finger deep within the borderline", 'the borderline' being a colloquialism for the female genitals. He's admitted (although can't find that video now) that he then just gets silly with it, later on referring to knuckle, elbow and then shoulder deep within the borderline. Not serious lyrics. I think the only time he's being serious is when he's singing about his mother, everything else can be taken with a pretty big grain of salt. Si

I quite like the K-200 bass (it's a bit like a cheaper Serek Midwestern), but the Eastwood logo and the tuners make it look cheap and nasty IMO. More 'vintagey' logo, a more rounded headstock and plop some elephant-ear (Fender) style tuners on it and I might be interested, especially if there was a cool single pickup innit like the Serek B90. Basically I want a Serek, which are wonderful, but too expensive for what I'd invest in a short scale....for now anyway. Si

Looks like the keyboard is USB-Midi, and so there should just be one cable needed between the keyboard and your computer for it to work. If you're talking about a laptop, then that should be very little space. If it takes ages to start, then that's some troubleshooting to do with the computer. If your daughter will just go on Youtube.....I'd question her commitment to the instrument lol. But in all honesty, connecting to the computer for the sounds will be your best bet. Not sure why you'd spend an extra £60 to achieve something you available to you now. Unless you are talking about a really (REALLY) old school tower computer or such-like. Because the keyboard is class-compliant (doesn't require a driver on Mac or iOS), you could connect it to an iPad (using a USB -> Lightning adapter), and use the keyboard to trigger sounds from an appropriate free app. Best of both worlds I'd say.....assuming you own an iPad or iPhone Si
