  1. Most (all) DAWs will only be able to load one audio driver at a time, with the audio driver only recognising one 'interface' at a time. In some cases (on Macs), it's possible to create an aggregate device, to combine inputs/outputs from multiple connected devices, but it's ropey at best. Ideally, to save yourself space and hassle, just buy yourself a dedicated audio interface that has the amount of i/o you require.....you'll thank yourself later! Si (For transparency I work for Focusrite, not trying to sell you anything, just make your life easier )
  2. I've always been keen to try a Baron: http://www.schecterguitars.com/bass/baron-h-vintage-detail But never seen one in order to try, should have gone along to them at NAMM, but totally forgot. Si
  3. LaBella Gold Flats fitted to my Lakland 44-94......sounds great on some recordings so far! Can't wait to gig it. Here's to not changing strings ever again?! lol

Have you found them slightly quieter than regular nickels or flats? I loved the tone of them on my P but then output was def lower!

@davebass66Hmmm, can't say I've noticed a volume dip compared to the Chromes on my '71 Precision, but difficult to know what other differences are coming from the pickups etc (my 44-94 is a custom passive P/J). Not noticed anything significant going from the factory rounds it had on it to the Golds, but not to say there might have been some very minor differences, nothing my amp can't handle lol.

I was about to ask if you noticed a volume drop. I had a huge volume drop on my Precision. I was previously using Chromes and Rounds.

  4. Whilst swapping the pre is the biggest thing, I did find swapping the pickups for some decent dual coils improved the passive sound a lot (for obvious reasons). I went through Elrick Basses, who stocks USA dual coil Bart in MK-1 sized housing, always handy: http://www.elrick.com/product-category/elrick-accessories/pickups-electronics/ That said, depends if that's above your budget as well. Worth considering that if your bass had pickups/preamp that indeed you loved the sound of, would the cost actually be higher. ie don't think about it as spending the same again on 'just' pickups, think about it as you spending the money on a bass you need to in order to get a sound pleasing to you. Si
  5. I have a Bass Collection Jive fretless which is very good for the money! Si
  6. Do they work? But seriously, nice pair. I’d have the P over the J if it were me though. Si
  7. It’s worth noting that soapbars simply refers to the casing, not what is inside. Generally speaking, you can find any pickup config in soapbar format, single cool, dual coul, humbucker etc etc. So actually, your setup is much more versatile with what you can test than anything else. I wager that there’s plenty of mid-priced or 2nd hand eBay alternatives to the big names too. You might even find that some pickup companies might fit whatever format you want in the cases you already have. Si
  8. Oooosh, love the look of this!! Second dibs when you sell it Si
  9. I think they look great, especially now they do custom finishes!! Si
  10. LaBella Gold Flats on the way for my Lakland 44-94.....which also happens to be gold
I think I may be done with roundwounds?! o.O

@discreetIt’s only an 80’s bass if it’s headless and white with black hardware!

Yeah, that's the other sort of 80s bass... that I don't like. :)

I have the la Bella low tension flats on my 55-94 currently... sound's the dog's!

  11. Get the TC Sub N Up Mini. Not exactly cheap (£88 new), but much MUCH better than the plastic Behringer, and smaller than even the POG Mini (the video above is the Micro POG). Also allows full editing of the controls with some software, tone prints etc etc Si
  12. I've always thought Ashdown have had excellent customer service. Will never forget the time I was invited over to the HQ for my ABM EVOII to be repaired when it died a few days before a tour. Think I left with a carry bag, a pedal, a mug and an amp with a fully replaced preamp section, above and beyond. Personally speaking, I think it's great that manufacturers engage on forums, I certainly try and do that here with my Focusrite/Novation had on (where appropriate). But in any case, I also struggle to see the market here a little....or rather I see the market (recording), but can't imagine it's particularly huge?! 30 tube watts is not enough for me to gig with 80% of the time, and I'd certainly not drop £499 on a practice/rehearsal amp. Interested in it as a recording setup, but again, lots of amazing tube DI's on the market (arguably more expensive), so it's only beneficial if you want to record a tube amp through a cab?! I would need convincing. Now if a company were to fit a 100w all-tube setup into this size amp, we're talking Anyway, not an Ashdown bash, love the company, always have Si
  13. Doesn't look much like a CT to me, more like a finished Wishbass, definitely wouldn’t drop £1k on it!! Si
  14. You don't find the LB's 'too dull'? Presumably you still get the note definition that you need?! I don't have any issues with the Chromes that I have, I really like the tone I'm getting, but always interested in whether there are 'better' flats for my Precision Cheers Si
  15. Can anyone with direct experience of D’addario Chromes and Deep Talkin’ Flats (steel) on 34” necks comment on how (if at all) the tensions between the two sets differ? Cheers Si
  16. Love this!! And I’m quite close. Can’t though GLWTS!! Si
  17. I'd absolutely suggest doing that, rather than continuing to get angry at something you might not need to. Without wanting to speak for them, I can't imagine they'd have a problem swapping your ticket, it's a legit reason. But yes, if they're being slow replying to enquiries, that's frustrating. Si
  18. I gigged a KSD 5 string for a few months (borrowed from a mate), and it was nice enough, weird preamp though. Not sure I like the 3x3 headstock on a Jazz.....but as long as it works for you and sounds good Si
