I wonder how long it will be before Adrian gets a call from nasty G's lawyers?
Weirdly, I don't think Gibson hold the rights to the Thunderbird shape, but they do for SG, 335 etc, which is why you don't see many (if any) widely available copies of those exact shapes. Stunning girl, instrument, playing and composition!!!

Yes, aside from the casually sexist thread title, musical content reminded me of Chon. Clean math is have a bit of a renaissance it seems Si -
I was contemplating going for a USA Lakland next time, as I wanted a five string P. Then they got back to me on prices. Another Jake it is I think...
USA Laklands aren't cheap that's for sure!! Excellent though. Si

Not sure about this, but got an ACG build to pay for in the coming months, and so I realistically don't need this. Please, no comments about the price, it's a vintage Boss pedal in excellent condition, this is the market value.....yes there is the Wazacraft version.....so clearly this is only attractive to collectors/users of vintage Boss gear. Price includes postage. No box. Label is intact on the bottom. Excellent condition, although the serial number is gone from inside the battery compartment. I reserve the right to change my mind! It probably isn't the tuners, it's probably the fact you're in A# lol. Have a chat with Newtone Strings about a higher tension set of strings, just tell them what you're tuned too and they'll sort you out. You won't be able to tune to standard (too much tension), and your bass will need a setup to accommodate them, but will mean you can have lower gauge strings, a lower action, and still time low! Si

Mine arrived today! Yay! Will have a good play tonight! Cheers Si
This is very useful info, thanks both for the details! @Sibob, the Sound On Sound review was particularly enthusiastic about the fact that with the Quantum, you do not have to deal with an internal mixer as well as the main DAW. Is that also the case with the Claretts?(BTW I'm a Scarlett 2i2 owner and love it )
I think specifically it was enthusiasm about the fact that the latency is so low, that there's no need for 'direct monitoring', which you would usually setup using the manufacturers 'mixing' software, it can all be monitored via the DAW. As a result, Presonus have decided not to include any kind of control software. All Thunderbolt interfaces have the potential for low latency, we've measured Claretts down to about 1.67m/s, 32samples @ 96kHz on a Mac (bear in mind you're highly unlikely to hear anything below 10m/s), and so direct monitoring is largely redundant in many situations.....unless you're running a MASSIVE session with a lot of plugins and are still recording parts (not really a use case). We still include our 'Focusrite Control' software as there's more functionality that just setting direct monitor routing. But in any case, it is set and forget. If you only use one routing ever, set it, and you never have to open Focusrite Control again. Cheers Si // Focusrite Media Relations

Maruszczyk Jake - €1030, and you could knock of €40 if you wanted maple instead of Ebony. Modern, light, hand built, and very cool! Si

Yes, agreed, most high-end laptops now are very much TB3. With our messaging, it's that TB3 is currently not 'officially' supported, meaning that on some systems we have certainly encountered problems (although interestingly, our testing on those systems with Quantum & Apollo interfaces has thrown up the same issues), however there may be some system hardware combinations where Claretts do work over TB3 off the bat. In any case we're currently working on releasing some very specific information about what systems and hardware configs Clarett will work over TB3 on, obviously as a result of thorough testing. Whilst it may have been above the price point I believe you were looking at (and indeed not quite the I/O you need), it's perhaps also worth noting that our new Red 16Line is the first true Thunderbolt 3 interface in the market: http://pro.focusrite.com/category/audio-interfaces/item/red-16line Anyway, cheers for the feedback, it's obviously helpful to see what peoples perceptions are! Cheers Si

If you just want it for one song, then price and size wise, your absolutely best bet will be the Digitech Bass Synth Wah (BSW), as mentioned. They'll crop up from anywhere between £40 & £70, here and on eBay. Si
. If this is all they weigh , I think Gibson are really missing a trick here not quoting it in their specs. There are a lot of bass players out there with back and shoulder problems looking for a lighter weight bass. You just have to look at the number of times that question is asked of Basschatters selling gear. No doubt the problems are brought on by playing heavy basses like Fenders and lugging outsized speaker cabinets around to gigs.
I imagine they're made in vast enough numbers that the variances in weight would render any marketing of weights pointless. "All basses weigh between 7-9lbs" They'd be inundated with requests for the lightest bass, and shops would be left with all the 'heavy ones'. Just easier not to mention it and reap the positive comments online from those who get a light one. Si

Each of the 1/4" outputs on the rear is a balanced mono output. If there was a grounding issue (unbalanced or faulty cables for example), I would expect there to be noise on that output, but not necessarily faint signal from another output. If you're using unbalanced cables (1 black band around each plug), do try balanced cables (two black bands), but this may not solve the issue. As has been mentioned, you could test whether the issue occurs by switching your main outputs from 1-2 to say 5-6.....however you need to be a bit careful as only outputs 1-2 are controlled by the physical volume control on the front of the unit (as you've no-doubt noticed with output 3). You can control outputs 3, 4, 5 & 6 using the software volume in Mix Control, or if that is up full (as is standard), you'll simply get full-scale line level out of those outputs. This is fine if you only use the interface for live use (the FOH desk will be fine to accept line level), but absolutely not good if you plug in some monitor speakers to those outputs, you'll scare yourself (I know this is true from experience, we've all done it here at one point), as well as potentially damage your monitors. As mentioned, as difficult as it may be, moving the setup to an area with signal/internet in order to troubleshoot with one of the team is your best bet. They'll be able to advise quickly whether a hardware repair is needed. Cheers Si // Focusrite Media Relations

I have a Skyline 55-01 (2016 - Indonesia) and a USA 44-94. Considering the 55-01 cost me £749 new, it punches WAY above its weight! Sure I've swapped out the pickups and preamp for USA Bartolini equivalents, but the originals were more than capable. I've also had a Skyline 44-02D & DJ4 and both were excellent. I only sold the 44-02D as I didn't get on with maple fingerboards at the time (still don't), and the DJ4 only went to fund the USA 44-94, if I wanted another Jazz, I'd buy another of those! I also had a brief flirt with a Skyline 44-64 Custom P/J, but that did have some minor finishing flaws, so it went back, very much an anomaly I believe, felt and sounded great though! I can't ever see myself needing anything other the 55-01 in a 5string. I'd perhaps order a USA equivalent, but only if I genuinely had money to burn......which isn't looking likely in the foreseeable lol. The USA is a cut above, but you'd expect that, it's a custom passive P/J 44-94, first of its kind I believe Si

Be thankful you're in a band that wants to play progressive music that stretches and challenges you, you could be in a band who throw Rolling Stones songs at you every week (I'd quit that band instantly). What About Me can absolutely be approximated through the vast majority of the tune, I bet Michael doesn't play it the same each night! The difficult part, simply due to stamina really is the outro/drum solo, it's an easy enough 'riff', but tiring, so when you get to that fast unison line at the end, you need some left in the tank. Was a challenge to learn, but really satisfying when I got it, the rhythms involved are fantastic! Si
My laptop is my (Linux) software dev environment as well as my audio machine, and other things. I could switch to Mac but it's just as propriety as Windows in the end, even if it is BSD underneath. So for now for me for audio it's Windows 10 + thunderbolt 3. That ruled Clarett out from the off as far as I could tell, no support for my setup. I was hoping that TB3 would be the technology that made things work nicely on both platforms, but it's not looking that way just yet. So was always down to TB2 interfaces with Windows 10 support, which was pretty much UAD or the Quantum. I liked the approach with the quantum of going for low latency and doing everything in the DAW, that's why I bought such a beefy laptop in the first place - best Macbook Pro is about half the speed, they seem to be going for thinner and lighter without updating the spec, and still charging crazy money. It seems to work, I can run more virtual amps and effects than I'll ever need and still get stupidly low latency. Weighs a bit more than a Mac though
Thanks very much, that's interesting to hear, only because Claretts are indeed supported on Windows 10, see here: https://uk.focusrite.com/node/31789 There's some specific info on Windows & Thunderbolt here: https://support.focusrite.com/hc/en-gb/articles/207355215-Clarett-Windows-Compatibility Also interested to hear about the requirement of Thunderbolt 2 specifically, as not many people run the kind of recording setup that requires that kind of bandwidth (please do correct me if I'm wrong in your case), more info here: https://support.focusrite.com/hc/en-gb/articles/206849269-What-type-of-Thunderbolt-do-the-Clarett-Interfaces-Use- I don't think I'm aware of any TB3 interfaces yet, or any TB/TB2 devices supported (officially or otherwise) over TB3. Whilst TB3 is not a particularly new protocol, the roll-out of USB-C on PCs has been on the slow side I feel. Please don't take this as some aggressive 'oh you should have bought this' technique, far from it, you're obviously more than happy with your interface, and that's all that matters of course. But if I can get the above info about Claretts out there a little more and seen by others who might be on a Google search, then that's a good thing . Cheers for replying though, happy recording! Unfortunately, it sounds like a fault to me. However I would recommend phoning the Tech support team on Monday (or whenever you're next with yoursetup), and they can trouble-shoot with you. If you're only with the setup out of office hours (mon-fri 9:30-6), then there is a live chat option on the website which is available until about 1am UK time. Let me know if you have any issues! The onboard effects are great! Sound really good, especially loved the Ring Mod preset. But I just couldn't get on with the workflow....not because it's bad (although it's fiddly witbout the computer based GUI), but just not what I needed. I didn't purchase the loan unit I had and stuck with my Line6 M5. Si
JV P/J pickups? I am not sure there is such a thing as a JV in P/J configuration. I'd be wary of paying too much for that.
Good spot! Beware!! Unless it's a JV P & a JV Jazz bridge.....but that would be quite odd, someone would have put then together, won't be a stock set. Si

TU-2 has a power draw of 55mA, I think I'm right in saying it can also supply 200mA via its power output on the rear (so you can daisy chain other pedals). I've used them for probably 15 years, most recently the TU-3W, and never had any issues with however I power them, nor where in the chain they sit. Compare that with the TC Nano tuner, that really doesn't like being next to a drive pedal, noise when daisy-chained in bypass and when on. Love the TC tuners in general (if they're isolated), but you can't beat the Boss ones for almost every situation! Si

Interesting that you went for neck face dots.....you actually use them? Si
