In my search for a nice jazz, someone has mentioned sandberg as being a good option for me maybe? I play pretty full on metal, and the likes of Andy Sneap etc recommend them in the studio etc etc. I was looking at a cali JM - seems to be a good option and I can get one for a VERY good price off a friend of mine. Any advice / opinions off owners or ex owners is more than welcome! Thanks

It was pretty mental fair play.

I used to do deals on stuff that had been out a while, makes perfect sense to do it if you ask me, like someone said it becomes 'dead' stock otherwise. I was actively encouraged by my managers to work out deals if the customer has enough sense to ask - you would be suprised at the amount of people who walk in, see something - dont try it out and pay full whack for it. Shame our managers then whacked all the interest and profit into our sister store which was doing terrible in comparison to us and then shut us down!

Right apologies if this has been posted before, but I did a search and didnt really come up with anything suitable.... What I'm asking is : I'm really fancying a jazz, and want to know if there a sonic/build/whatever difference between a marcus miller series or a std MIJ/CIJ?? I play metal, so I want the slimmer neck profile a jazz would give me and I really like the look of the MM artist bass (my stingray is great BUT the neck profile is quite big) SO basically any recommendations or advice on what would be suitable? Thanks Dave
Nice. Which mic did you go with in the end?
If I recall correctly, I think we blended the DI and one of the sennheisers. The DI was quite dirty and the mic quite clean so it sounded great! Loving your rig btw!

Posted it before on the other forum, but yeah ABM 500 head + matching 8x10 cab. Pic taken during recording (testing mic's for sound - we didnt use all of them!) Thinking of a change this year maybe.

Sounds like GM :F Sounds like you were lucky! The newport branch is home to the rudest staff I have ever had the misfortune to deal with!

Freedom is nice too, simple to play but it sounds great. All the others named are ace though.
I actually can't imagine a more miserable job - if you are into to or work in music - than working in a guitar shop - I think it'd drive me mental. Cheers Mike
Nah for me it was my favourite job I have ever done! Our shop was more like a community meeting place for muso's. Shame we just couldnt sustain the business - we price matched heavily with the big internet stores/names/deals and still were fighting a losing battle.....
my local guitar shop is this little place about 15ft squared, only 3 or 4 basses and a couple of amps, only 1 person works there, the owner Sarah. and she's been the 5 days a week for the last dacade. always friendly, always up for a chit-chat and always more than happy to let schoolkids try and shred, which although something that annoys me a bit now, was a real good thing when i was a kid. because of this i make sure that if there's anything i can get through that shop, i do so, even if it is a few quid more. and i think just about every other musicial in a 20 mile radius does the same. also, i was up in Cardiff a few weeks ago with a couple of hours to kill. so me and a mate were wondering round the music shops, and although we weren't asking to play things or talking to the staff, there was a bit of a chill in the air for them. that is until we hit upon a little one tucked away in a corner. we go in and are immediatly greated by this big grinning fellow. the convo went something like this: 'hi! how are you? is there anything i can do to help?' 'thanks but no, were just browsing really' 'musicians are we?' 'yes, i'm a bassist, he's a guitarist' 'ahh brilliant, you play in a band?' .... and so on for the next 10 minutes, asking what instruments we had, what we thought of them, what sort of music we play etc. but not just to make convo, he seemed genuinly interested. we left the shop with big smiles on our faces, told several people about the shop, and will no doubt return in the future, which is more than i can say for most shops i've visited. so i guess it really does pay to be kind! it's a shame more buisnesses don't realise this...
Which shop was that mate? Cranes? GM? Gamlins?

Usually - Bass x 1 Head x 1 Cab (if needed - 80% not usually needed) Box x 1 (Leads, tuner, spares etc etc etc) Nice and easy! [EDIT - Bass in hiscox H/C, Head in new ashdown cover THANKS MB1!)

I have no problems with most people using my cabinet - but I don't let people other than my friends use my head. I used to and it got to a point where it was every show, and 3 bands would ask to use it on the night. NO THANKS! I would feel amazingly cheeky turning up to a show with no head/gear unless I had pre-arranged it with a band/promoter.

I use an ABM 8x10. Used to have an ABM 4x10 & a ABM 1x15, but I generally prefer 10's so I switched over. I think my 8x10 is a 4 ohm cab (it's not at home to check!)

Amp cover keeping my amp nice and warm too! Excellent guy to deal with, really good comms and it came very quickly! Cheers Martin!

Prior to me joining the band did euro tours etc. In this country we play all over the shop. We have done glasgow - there and back in one night before. EXHAUSTING though.
