1.
When I tried them, i thought that the more pronounced mids of the Dbs gave the impression of having reduced lows, so i went with the Gs's even though im usually a mids guy!
That's odd I was just chatting to the missus and said that I must prefer the DB's as I have a tendency to boost the mids ever so slightly on my F1.
2. Hy everyone I might be looking for a new set of cabs later this year beggining of the next. So far Tc Electronics are in from with RS210 x2 But I wonder if Aguilar would best suited for me and I love the boss tweed finish, but how do GS and DB cabs differ between each other? Thanks David
3. Yeah I don't think it should be a problem. Now soundwise if I'm using a 4x10 maybe i need to put the barefaced on it's side to stabilize the stack no?
4.
I'd put the Compact on top. You'll be hearing a better sound out of the better cab. Will the bass be DI'ed? If it is then I'd just stick with the Compact and on stage monitoring.
Unfortunately it won't. We have a PA but our guitar player is afraid I'll blow up the speakers.
5. Hi everyone Some of you may have seen a thread I started looking to hire a cab for a big outdoors gig I have, I have found that the studio where I practice will hire cabs to take outside. It will probably be an heavy 4x1o Ampeg. Would you stack it on top of the Compact or vice versa. I sometimes seat on teh Compact and I'm about 13 and 1/2 stones. Opinions Thanks
6. I bought mine two years ago, and if I had to replace it, would buy another or maybe the F500 if it is the same with the post/pre di and mute switch. Mine is always flat and it sounds huge.
7. I found a solution, the studio we practice at have a hire backline option, I'll hire from there. Think they have Ampeg.
8.
Ah, because we played it last year - we couldn't do it this year :-) A proper riot. Our sound guy ended up acting as bouncer to ensure we didn't end up with miscellaneous drunken hockey players on the lights/pedalboards
It was a great laugh two years ago. Those two guys were in front of the stage when we start "I predict a riot" one looks at his mate and punches him, the other one laughs and punches him back. Classic. I'm in it for the HogRoast i just realise that by saying that I'm raising the price of the hire cab for fear of damaged gear. For what is worth my gear was fine and we had a great time, granted there were lots of people drunk but we were fine.
9.
I have a 4x10 or 1x15 you can borrow.
Thanks Wayne, I'll wait to see if I can get a 2x10, if not I'll pm you.
10.
I haven't got anything that would be suitable, but I think this is a very good idea. Although I think people should always be wary of lending their gear to someone they don't know, so maybe it would be an idea to draw up a little hire contract to say the person will pay for any resulting damage to the gear while in their care? Just an idea!
Agreed, happy to pay for insurance if it's possible to insure gear for a day too.
11.
Mate, just gotta ask - you're not playing 'Fun in the Forest' are you?
Yeah I am, how did you guessed, we were there two years ago and now they have invited us back.
12. Hi guys I just got the confirmation that my band are doing a big gig outdoors on Sat 29th May, and I have been having thoughts about my current set up not being enough. I played there two years ago with my Acme B2 @ 4ohms and it was just about enough. We have a PA but our guitar player is afraid that I'll blow his speakers up with the low end so I never get a line to the PA. For most of our pub gigs is enough and when we play Roadhouse they have this monstrous pa and a very competent sound guy so no worries there. Anyway to the point, I'd like to know if any of you would make one of their 8ohms cabs available for hire to plug through my mark bass along side my compact. I'll favour 2x10 due to ease of transport. But i'm open to other options The gig is in Chigwell, I'm based in sevenoaks Kent and I often drive to Putney or Deptford London. Thanks in advance David
13. It seems like you own a performer. But nothing like emailing Stuart himself or PJ at Spector they will be able to help. I have a tone pump for sale if you fancy. And you will never get a thunderbird out of it, but Spectors are usually well known for being punchy and have lots of mids, maybe new string are in order
14.
My function band has Craig Blundell on drums.... maybe not as famous as Mr Paladino but he is playing with some serious acts King King and David Cross to name a couple, he's also Roland's main clinician for V-drums so you've probably seen him in action somewhere....
you Sir are a lucky guy.... well done.
15.
I'll ask. Would you like Pete and Rog too?
Might as well...
16. my Wedding is in October and I don't have a band yet, can you get him to play my wedding too?
17. I've only owned a pimped up jazz bass does that count?
18. if he was a Jedi nothing would have happened to him.
19.
No mate, sorry, i need the money - who'd have thought how much orders of service, toasting wine and canapes etc cost?!?! Thanks though - please don't tell me what you'd have traded, as i'd probably be gutted that i'd miss out on something i'd really quite like!!!!! Cheers..
I feel you mate, I too am paying for my wedding this year and it's unbelivable, have a bump, and make sure you put some bass gear on your wedding list
20.
Agreed. ...or even having your post edited so that it takes on a completely different meaning. Behringer have their product slated, what's different here? Alex has criticised other manufacturers gear for a long time, why would he expect to be immune from criticism himself? Alex stating that people's amps (500 watt amps not being powerful enough to drive a BF cab... what??)/gear/hearing etc is at fault whenever a BF cab is not sounding like the punter wanted, failing to learn from mistakes or take criticism on board isn't too smart a commercial move.
I never saw being mentioned anywhere EBS. but I agree that some posts were edited and that didn't help. I use 350w with a barefaced cab and it goes fine. I'm planning on getting another one.
21. Only one advice mate, Enjoy yourself
22. Oh I just rememeber I met Steve harris a couple times in his bar in Algarve, and I chat briefly with Danny from Cradle of Filth before one of their shows.
23. I played at the 60th Birthday of Barry Hearn and among his guests was Chris Eubank, and Keith Arthur. Some other guys from pool were there too, but I'm foreign and don't recognize half of them. Proper posh it was but we are rock n roll so I wear trainers and t-shirt. Food was great by the way. pitcure below with the Birthday boy.
