1. +1 to the above, because i don't want to use mega super hyper difficult calculations I buy gear that works for me, that being boutique or not. I'm not sure I understand the purpose of your thread.
2.
Ocean Colour Scene - Riverboat song. Not so difficult, but constant playing of the main riff makes my wrist ache like mad...and thats with correct hand positioning. Ive only played it 8-10 times though with this new band, so time to progress.
we play that almost every gig, i find that shifting the position every so often it relives the stress on your hand. I used to have that playing "paradise" by Sade.
3. I've been following the TC 450 threads for sometime and just bought an RS210, being a F1 user i like a no frills aproach to sound, plug and play as I describe it. I find the the TC head lends itself to lots of tweaking and setting up and that for me alone is reason enough not to by it, I want to spend time playing music not turning knobs left and right. my two cents.
4. Price is fair. Their RS210 went up by £80 now that's wrong, good job I got mine before the price rise.
5. what ever works for you. If you don't like the new ones stick the old ones on
6. Where's Jaco when you need him...
7. Mate if you can affor £50 you will be able to buy a practice that will last you for years to come. Check the for sale section or ebay, maybe even with £25 you can buy something to practice with. You must have a big car I'm thinking that if i played in my car the headstock would be always knocking the ceiling.
8. Heck I am give me £25 and it's yours or I'll trade with a distortion pedal or something like that.... Just take it from me
9. I'm on Bass Player too and used to be quite active there but as of late the forum as been less about bass and fewer people post there. I've seen some familiar faces around here Rowbee Geoff dave-london Philw Good people
10. I played one and really disliked it... The neck felt odd and the frets were badly finished my two cents
11. This what my mate is using http://www.allparts.uk.com/online-shop/moj...46_455_457.html http://www.torresamps.com/grill_cloth.htm
12. From my experience there's nothing like the real thing. We can speculate as much as we want but we never know until we tried it. That's what i did when I bought my RS210 to go on top of the Compact and run by an F1, they "just work" but nor me nor Alex or anyone I know could predict their behaviour.
13. Don't pop,, the liquid will be gone and the skin will tear apart and she will end up playing with raw flesh
14.
Id be interested to hear your thoughts on the F1 with the RS210 on its own. Its almost like an opposite voicing, which can be great, eg the F1 is very quick, modern and clean, whereas the RS210 is quite sweet and almost slightly vintage in its tone.
I should be going to the studio for a true test with them sometime soon, I'll be sure to post something. I only played about 5 minutes with the rs on it's on but indeed it sounds like some eq might be needed if trying to cut through a full band. Not sure it would hold its own in a five piece indie rock band. But as an add on, it has tammed my sound and it sounds great with the Compact
15. I would say buy the bag end that's available there and an amp and then play by hear, you might find you don't need that big a rig. And plus transport is an issue when moving 4x10.
16. I spoke to Alex about the midget but because the midget is very mid rangey, he mentioned that I wouldn't be happy and I decided to try the RS210 instead. Alex did say that he couldn't predict how they would sound together but I'm happy I took the chance
17. Hi all So yesterday I received my RS210 which I was quite looking forward as it has been enjoying lots of great reviews and I needed another cab to go on top of the Compact. I tried the cab on its own and I was pleasantly surprised by the sound, Granted not as loud as the Compact but a good sounding cab with some emphasis on the highs. I found that I like to open the highs on the horn about ¼ and that works fine more than that and you start to sound a bit Marcus Miller without the technique. A little too tin for my liking. Then the real test started Compact on the floor RS on top, they seem a match made in heaven as they are about as deep as each other and both rugged surfaces make for a steady rig that won’t go anywhere. Mark Bass F1 running both cabs and off we go. First impressions, WOW this rig is tall, albeit a small floor print. Me likes this, being 6 foot and having a tall rig behind me gives me somewhat a sense of power plus the F1 is at my chest height and the knobs are clearly accessible. The best sound I was getting was with the F1 all flat and the horn only open ¼ on the rs and using the Spector with halfway boot on the highs and lows, both pickups full on, This gave me a great funk sound with dirt enough to cut when going to a higher register, when more treble is needed and less bass I just rolled back the neck pickup and it was bliss. I now need to test it with my T-bass but the Spector was the test I needed it was the main reason why I thought about having a new cab as I kept messing about with the EQ with no success. I have now taken my Compact from the for sale section and should be a happy bunny for years to come. Hopefully, I’m tired of spending money on gear. Literally.  I’ll take photos soon, but at the moment my gear is in the studio and the light was poor. David
18. I've only once heard one of those bad boys and it sounded great.
19.
Can the F1 produce classic old-school rock tones? Stuff like the Stranglers, real deep fat bass
I'm not familiar with the sound. But the F1 has a filter VLE From their site: VLE (Vintage Loudspeaker Emulator) frequency range 250 Hz-20 kHz (cut) Check the manual I couldn't copy www.markbass.it/risorse/allegato_pro.php?id=90
20. And up for the weekend
21. Old model 14.5kgs weighted in my travel scales at home. Bought last year around October time. Mint condition.
22. I would say yes. And I believe others will too. Another thing that distinguishes the F1/F500 from the other MB heads is the quick response, something i never noticed before but could tell the difference when I bought my F1
