1. Congrats well done.
2. Play a couple gigs with it and then make up your mind. You will be suprise by ease of cutting through Spectors have that growl that stands out, give it time.
3. It would be interesting to see some sub forums for major brands but the club thing is pretty much a TB thing. In those subforums one could have galleries and the usual threads. Maybe including some brands like, Spector, Warwick, Fender, Musicman, Sadowsky, Sei, Overwater, Lakland, Status etc... An idea
4. If I had a place to store it i'd buy it, come on. It's an Ampeg 4x10 it's lound and if you have a 1x15 to go underneath you have a huge rig. What's the ohmage?
5. Great bass player, fantastic bass and props for wearing that Powerslave t-shirt.
6. This is me. What does it mean?
7. Music Complex are cool too
8.
Buying and insuring a transit van, split between 5 people, is going to be a lot more reasonable than buying a bunch of expensive lightweight bass gear, split between one person!
What he said and remember that all have to pay for petrol on a regular basis
9.
Well, if they come with suitably sized rack ears for the F500 then count me in for one - and about time!
I think they do rack ears already I saw a couple pictures on talkbass. found it - http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=645523 for me it kinda defeats the objective why have a 3kgs if you stick into a 3kg rack case.
10. Why not a Compact? is that too big for you? I'm selling mine. You have lots of price difference in those cabs. How about the RS212. I've ordered a RS210 and can review it for you on Monday.
11. Record yourself and see how YOU sound, then you decide to be depressed or not.
12. Withdrawn
13. Oh..... I'll give it a try next time I'm in studio....
14.
Suppose you could try the free solution of stick the Compact on a box. In theory I think that might not work as well as with other cabs since its dispersion is good (although I might be thinking of the Big One, and 15s are much of a muchness as far as that is concerned), but it is free to try.
Not sure I'm aware of that technique/theory.
15.
If you want I can lend you mine to see if it suits you, however you'd have to pick it up from me in North London. Cheers Jack
That would be appreciatted. Where abouts in North London? I drive often into town so could sort something out before I go to the reharsals...that's probably the best place to try them out.... might book an hour in studio to test it fully.
16. I'll join in. I had this video recorded ages ago. (think it was 2 years ago or so). I don't even know how to play it anymore.
17. I'm enjoying Let's Get Retarded at the moment. Cool tune
18. I like Tim Burton But I dislike Ashdown and never played a Warwick that felt right, but they are well...opinions and I'm glad someone likes other stuff that I don't, that way I can shift my gear when I dislike it. Can you imagine a world of SVT + 8x10 how boring would that be, plus there wouldn't be enough roadies in the world to move them around.
19. Muscle memory can be good but it's worth to know the fretboard well just so you can switch the fingering or the place where you are playing the riff on the fly. Sometimes I use muscle memory when changing the key of a song to suit the singer. Since I already know the "shape" of the riff it's easier to move about on the fly.
20.
+1 Just my opinion, but if you've got one Compact and you want more then 2 would be the way to go. I tried 2 Compacts at the Bass Bash and they sounded huge. They were loud, full toned and didn't even break sweat when we turned the Thunderfunk up to 11.
Yeah I think that another Compact might do, but I don't really want to spend the cash if I can avoid it. Would like to try that setup first, to see how it sounds.
21. I found myself in need of another cab. Not that the Compact is not loud enough but I want to be able to have two cabs for bigger gigs. Anyway so how many of you have additions to the Compact? I have one, but I'm unsure as to what would be best. Another Compact or a Midget? Cheers David
22. Now there's a great idea...
23.
Ah, OK. Why don't you buy Jack London's Compact. 2 would sound just great.
I did think about that, but I'm a bit straped for cash at the moment, with a wedding coming up, I've had to take a sabatical year of buying gear.
24.
What I like about the GS is the proper handle on the side. There is only one but the box is light anyway so not a problem. The DB has a strap handle which..considering the effort in the styling, sounds odd to me...???? Also, whether it is in the right place is another issue as well. I would prefer the styling on the DB but the speaker chassis in both cabs is the same.. the GS is front ported and DB rear so that may be where you get the tuning diff from and if you are using these as a lightweight rig in small places, maybe placement might be an issue.
It might be the website photos but it looks like the DBs have side recessed deep-dish handles. Are they not the same as the GS?
25. I tend to boost the f1 low mid by about 1/8, it sounds like the GS are more my stily. But I couldn't see any 1x15 or 2x10 on their website. Why they don't do the fancy styling on all cabs?
