These are the pedals I use the most: So that's octave down, overdrive, boost, EQ, sequenced filter, delay. Why did I buy them? Octave down - I initially got it to create synth tones with my fuzz/filter pedals but found I preferred just the clean octave signal Overdrive - Just to add some grit to my tone. Boost - The EP Booster adds some high end sparkle to my tone, especially good for pick playing with roundwounds (I can't seem to get this particular sound using just EQ). EQ - This one's always on. I mainly use it to shape my sound but it's really useful for adding character to my overdrive. Seek Wah - This one was a bit impulsive really, it just seemed like a cool idea but I use it alot more than I though. It's kind of a cross between a tremolo and a filter. Great for adding rhythmic ideas to simpler lines. Delay/Looper - Just that really, not sure what else I can say . I think the only ones I would class as my core effects are the overdrive, booster and EQ.
Option 2 could be the winner!!! Or maybe I'll leave it blank, just to be different.
Funny you should say that...that's what it's like on my board at the moment .
I know and it's bugging me. My options at the mo, for a solution I will actually use... 1. Take the tuner off and try and fit what's left on a smaller board, maybe PedalTrain JNR (if it will fit), and get a rack tuner. I can prob live without the Octave as well as it's fun but doesn't get used much. 2. Get an envelope filter with a long very deep sweep as the DiscumBOBulator only does a soft sweep. Kinda miss my old DOD fx25b and it's monsterous sweep. 3. Get something else no bigger than a Boss pedal that I don't really need but can pick up for a bargain price and try to find a use for it, maybe a trem? Shep
A few ideas I have to fill the gap: 1. A compressor after your Filter (to flatten out peaks). You could carry on the EBS theme with the Multicomp or go for something else. 2. 2nd Delay...maybe another DD-3? Very cool sounds to be had from 2 delays. 3. Clean booster at the end of your chain to drive your Fafner. 4. Another dirt pedal, maybe an overdrive/distortion that stacks well before/after the Blowtorch. 5. Reverb? Acquired taste on bass... 6. Harmoniser, something like a PS-3/PS-5 could be cool depending on what kind of music you're playing; especially for 5th up, 4th down or Oct up. That's all the ideas I've got Failing all those...maybe just tag a DI box on the end?

Is learning DB on a five string a bad idea?
gnasher1993 replied to fatback's topic in EUB and Double Bass
I've learnt on a 5 string and haven't had any problems. I can play 4 strings just fine as well. EDIT to say it can be very tiring (especially when starting out), perhaps more so than a 4 string. -

Thanks for the input Ray. Perhaps there's something going on that we don't know about. I think riff raff is just one to be careful with, I don't think he'll be back on this forum though. If he does, chances are it'll be a new account.

Still nothing from this one. I've tried getting in touch with him to no avail. I'll just write this one off as a bad deal. Be careful folks.

Thanks for that, Max! That cleared up alot of questions I've been wanting answers to .
i take it you still have his home address
Yes, I've got his address.
A number of other members have had problems with this guy, agrees to meet up and never turns up.
That doesn't surprise me. I couldn't find a feedback thread for him . Should have asked around really, the wonders of hindsight eh?

Hi guys, This is something I'd hoped to avoid in my buying/selling/trading on Basschat but it's got to be done . Unfortunately, I've had a negative experience with the member 'riff raff'. We agreed a trade: My Boss ODB-3 for his EHX Octave Multiplexer. This was agreed on the 6th of Feb. I posted the Boss on the 10th having informed him I would do so the evening before. The last I heard from him was on the 9th when he was said he was boxing up his pedal ready to go. I PM'd him on the 13th asking whether the Boss had arrived and if he'd posted his pedal. I PM'd again on the 16th saying: "I don't mean to rush you but it's been 5 days since I posted the Boss and I haven't heard from you". I think this was reasonable. It's now a week since I posted the Boss and I'm starting to worry and have definitely written this one off as a bad experience. I've bought, sold and traded alot of effects on Basschat and have never had one negative deal, everyone has come through and I've been more than happy. I've left appropriate feedback to reflect this so I feel I should do the same for this deal. According to his profile, he last logged on on the 15th (so he has definitely read my first PM). I'm generally a fairly trusting person and would have been ok if I'd had some sort of correspondence after having posted my pedal but I'm definitely sceptical about this one turning out alright. So... looks like I won't be getting my pedal back and I'm pretty upset about it to say the least. Does anyone have any ideas as to what I can do next to try and resolve this problem? Also...has anyone else dealt with Rob (riff raff) in the past? AJ

If the screw is missing (i.e. the rubber feet are gone) then you can just tape the ring to the enclosure using insulating tape.

Looking to sell my Barber Tone Press to fund another purchase. It's a great compressor; very usable, especially with the blend control. They're £150 new so I'm looking to get £80 (ono) posted within the UK. It's in great condition, the rubber feet are gone but there's no velcro. I can't find the original box unfortunately. Terrible picture, sorry. Also for sale: Fulltone Fatboost v1 in like new condition. No velcro, with original box/papers. You honestly couldn't tell this apart from a new one. £60 (ono) posted within the UK. If you're interested in buying I can make some sound clips if that'll sway you. Feel free to PM me with any questions/offers. Trade offers are more than welcome +/- cash is also fine for the right deal. Cheers, AJ

Recently completed a trade with Dave. Traded 2 of his pedals for 1 of mine. One of them wasn't working which was sent off for repair. Having proved unrepairable, the broken pedal was sent back to Dave and he promptly refunded the difference to my account. I'm very happy with the way Dave handled all of this and couldn't have asked for anything more. Good communication and prompt shipping/transfer of funds. Deal with confidence folks . Thanks again, AJ

Just bought an Edirol UA-5 interface from Dave. Great guy to deal with, no problems here. Thanks again, AJ
Im after a reverb pedal for live use for a few solo parts I do. I dont want to much more than about £30 so obviously theres a limited amount of pedals out theyre i could look at trying has anyone gigged a behringer, danelectro or belcat reverb and got a good sound? theyre the only ones i have found that are cheap
The Behringer RV600 actually sounds pretty good but the build quality is terrible. Have a look for a used Marshall Reflector. It's a great little pedal. EDIT: Beat'd about the Marshall...
