1. If you're going to be using a laptop you need a good spec. Alot of software won't run well on a laptop. Ideally, you want a big hard drive (2 if possible), as much RAM as you can get, 7200rpm drive speed (rather than 5400rpm of most laptops), less than 5ms seek speed. Obviously, alot of those things are only important if you'll be mixing lots of tracks and running several VSTs etc. Also, alot of people will suggest that the computer that you use for recording should be for just that, i.e. no games or other software. It all depends on how serious you are... As for an interface, if you want lots of tracks you'll need something like the Tascam US-1641. If you're going to be multi tracking everything, then 1-4 channel(s) will be just fine. Have a look at the Lexicon series (Alpha and Omega) or the M-audio fast track line.
2.
i'll take the bottom feeder mate.
Sorry mate, I PM'd him on Monday saying I'd take it. I haven't heard back from him yet.
3. Hello? Are you still there? I've not had a reply to my messages.
4. I bought John's double bass a while back (August)...only just found this thread. What a great guy! I'm loving the bass... Cheers John
5. There's a fair few dealers... I have played through them before and liked them so much that I have a Shuttle 3.0-8T on it's way to me . They're great little amps. Very loud, very powerful, really light. The Shuttle 6.0 is rack mountable but the 3.0 is not. Whereabouts are you based?
6.
Either way, I definately want to update my rig... any recommendations for head and cab?
Sorry I didn't put it very well. The Genz Benz 'combos' are head and cab. Have a look.
7. Have a look at some of the Genz Benz shuttle combos.
8. It's such a shame you're in Newbury. That's too far for me to travel. I'd have loved that fretless 5.
9. Bump
10. Sorry to resurrect an old thread. When is there going to be another Yorkshire bass bash? Anything planned?
11. I'll post an update of my board when all my new bits have arrived . EDIT: There's now 6 pedals on the way to me.... I'm fairly excited as you can probably guess. 2nd EDIT: Now 7
12. How do you like the Bass Blogger? I've got one on the way that I've got from a trade and I have no idea whether it's any good...
13. I've been playing Frankenstein live for a couple of years now. It always turns into an every man for himself, lets all solo at the same time, free for all. I think it's the nature of the tune. Marcus Miller (and band) make some great music. You should check out some of their studio albums, it's very different to the self indulgent live music...which seems to be more about stagecraft and impressing the musicians in the audience.
14. Check out some of the Genz Benz shuttle combos, they sound great with double bass. Also, check out Euphonic Audio (particularly the Doubler) and Acoustic Image, they both make some great stuff. Your pickup should be alright, perhaps a preamp is what you need. Could be low input impedance on the Bassman that's losing volume...you could try something like this. Of course, that's just my opinion... AJ
15.
That sounds very very wrong haha. Ill get my coat!
It does . I'm so innocent . I was engrossed in the F1 on the TV when I posted. Ah well, .
16. Hey guys, For sale is my Digitech Whammy IV. It's in great condition, just a few minor paint chips. It has the original box but not the original adaptor (it was an American one anyway) but I will include an adaptor that works with the pedal (£15.99 from Maplin ). I'm looking for £100 posted but I'll entertain offers. Lowball me, you might be lucky...I could say yes if you catch me at a good time. Don't be scared of making an offer, the worst I'll do is say no. I'll consider certain trades but cash is king . Let me know if you have any trade offers, I want to here them... Pictures to come very soon. SOLD PM me, I really want to shift this to fund a new pedal purchase! Cheers, AJ
17. I have no doubt that they would take the pedal into their second hand section but you probably won't get much. I think you would be better to sell on here and find a pedal for sale in the classifieds. Just my opinion, of course...
18. I PM'd you with no reply...
19.
So... finished my mammoth clone last weekend, and it sounds exactly like it should and I'm well impressed with myself for actually managing to build something that works!!! - However.....as you all know they are not that happy with active basses, in fact they sound pants, so I'm left with a pedal that sounds epic with my passive basses but rubbish with my Stingray, which unfortunately is the bass I use live most of the time - would adding a pot (say a 250k) to the circuit input (between the footswitch and the circuit itself solve the problem?
Short answer - no. Long(er) answer - you need a buffer
20. £400? I dont' know. That's what I would pay.
21. Check out Anders Jormin. Look for Bobo Stenson Trio - Cantando. Most HMVs have that.
22. £420 apparently...
23. This story gets better and better. +1 to everything...would definitely read this thread again
