When I stayed in Glasgow I was often in Sound Control. It was a good store with friendly and helpful staff. Good deals could be made with everybody happy. I miss those days.

I’ve just come across this thread and so am happy to add my 2013 Graft. It’s a marvellous bass and has prompted me to get another bass from Alan. I’m expecting a new Graft 4 J type to be delivered this coming week. I’ll post pics when it’s here.

It is a shame that the Aberdeen store has closed as the only other guitar store only stocks a limited number of used instruments although they do have a very good repair and set up service. I would also have to say that Kenny’s in Aberdeen had a very poor selection of basses. They more or less catered for those who play six strings. There were several times the store just didn’t have what I was looking for, so it’s not a great surprise I’m afraid.

Bought a pedal from Aidan. He is a thorough gentleman and a credit to the Basschat community. Many thanks!

I bought the bass from Vintage & Rare. They advertised it as a ‘94. When I got the info on the bass from Musicman it stated that it began life as a fretted bass. Obviously someone had swapped the neck. I contacted V&R and they offered to take the bass back. I said I loved the bass just as it was and I was just letting them know what I had found out. They very graciously gave me a healthy amount of refund. I was a happy camper!

I used to own the Fretless Ray. It was a nice bass.

Good point! If an admin can close this thread that would be fine. I don’t seem to be able to delete it.

My son and I have matching basses in that they are both butterscotch and both maple necks and also from the same era. His is the Jazz and mine is the Precision. Anyone else have family related basses or even twins!

I am delighted to hear this news. I just hope the re-launched product is going to be as good as the U.K. case. I think I can remember Hiscox saying that they weren’t going to have cases built outwith the U.K. as they wouldn’t compromise on quality. I’m assuming they are happy with the new product as being on a par with the original cases.

Can anyone reccomended a multi-effects pedal for a technically challenged old guy. I’m looking for something that isn’t too bamboozling. Thanks in advance.

Yes indeed. It comes from the factory with D’addario XL Flatwounds.

Took delivery of this Sire V5 Fretless today. I am blown away by the quality of this bass for not too much money.

My V5 Fretless has just been delivered. I’ve not even taken the plastic off yet but here’s a photo as promised. I can’t believe the quality of this instrument for the money.

I’ll be happy to oblige when the bass gets delivered this week sometime.👍

I’m about to have my first foray into the Sire world. I’m presently waiting on a Sire V5 Fretless 4 string in tobacco burst. It is due to be delivered next week. Can’t wait!

I’ve just purchased a Hiscox case due to the company closing down. I wanted to make sure I got one of the last ones. Fortunately, I got one from a retailer who still had one in stock.
