Panic over. It's amazing what a bit of power can do!

I was trying to remove the screws from the side of the amp as well. The metal that covers the top also bends round the sides to the bottom of the amp. Is this the same with your amp?

I am going to be changing the tubes in my Walkabout Scout. I removed the amp from the cab and am currently trying to remove the screws from the sides of the amp so that I can access the innards. A couple of the screws just won't budge. Any tips anyone?

Many apologies folks but I'm going to have to withdraw this bass from the for sale forum. It took me a long time to consider selling this bass as I have had it for a while now. However, when I actually saw it in the for sale thread it made me feel that I was missing it already. It really is a superb bass so I'm going to hold on to it. If money gets too tight I might put it up for sale at some future date. Sorry!

I have for sale my Fender USA Standard Precision from 1984. The Bass is all-original apart from a sprague orange drop capacitor being fitted. The original capacitor is included. The bass is almost unmarked apart from a very small mark in the lacquer on the top horn which I have tried to photograph next to a one pence coin. This mark has been on the bass since I got it about 7 years ago and has not got any worse. The condition is superb considering this is a 32 year old bass. The bass will come in a non-original Fender G&G Deluxe Brown Tolex Case. The bass is currently strung with Thomastik Flatwounds. I had to think twice about putting this bass up for sale as I have grown rather fond of it but I have one too many precisions so a choice had to be made. The asking price of £900 includes delivery to the UK.

Fender Jazz American Traditional – help with components please?
It's interesting reading these replies because the only reason I'd buy one is because of the all-in-one scratch plate. Looks much more interesting than the usual chrome control plate and ages it definitively. Be wary of all those dudes that modded their 60's Precisions in the 70's and 80's and they ended up of the scrap heap. If you want a traditional looking jazz, then trade it for one. Why bother modding it when, in it's original state, it'll become more sought after in the future.
Couldn't agree more! -

Fender Jazz American Traditional – help with components please?

This isn't an 80's bass. The one piece pickguard was a feature in the early to mid eighties when the pickups had white covers and the bass was the American Standard offering. The American Traditional Jazz was made from about the mid-nineties to late nineties and was a cheaper offering than the standard Jazz. It's really up to you what you do with it. If it plays well and sounds good then why spend money. By keeping it in 'Traditional' mode you have a talking point and also a nice bass. -
Dan just bought a Fender Strat from me. As per all the above posts the transaction was extremely pleasant with good communication. Always a pleasure to do business with folk like Dan.
