Fender Urban Short Scale Gig Bag - internal dimensions?
Hutton replied to ikay's topic in Accessories and Misc
I don't know if this helps but I had one of these for my Squier Bronco and it was a great fit. -
There is a company called 'Omega' who are making Badass II copies. You will find them advertising on ebay. If you search for Badass II bridges the Omega bridges will appear. Unfortunately, I can't say how good or bad they are. There is currently an original Badass II for sale on ebay although you may have to be quick - http://www.ebay.co.u...p4AAOSw5dNWhYYP
To be fair on DrTS, back in the mid 80s (it is well documented that ) even Fender thought that on the whole late 70s and early 80s Fenders were a bit rubbish and just not up to snuff. Hence the introduction of Japanese production to try to beat the (much much better quality) Japanese copyists in their home market and take the pressure off while they bought up a few vintage Fenders to see what a Strat, Tele, Jazz and P-Bass were supposed to look like, retooled the whole factory and revamped the range. Great to know that you have managed to acquire of the peaches that were mixed in among the lemons. But most would agree (and the literature confirms) that there we a lot of lemons coming out of the Fender factory around then.
I have also read the literature and would agree with you for the period up to 82. However, The basses produced after that were much better as Smith & Schultz were endeavouring to make good instruments once again. The standard basses were being built alongside the reissues and receiving the same attention to quality control. It was very much a period for Fender coming out of the doldrums and making a big effort to do so. It is therefore just not right to describe 80s Fenders as naff. My bass is not an exception to the rule. Give me an 82-85 bass any day over what was offered in the late 70s and yet look what prices a mid to late 70s bass will command.
Apparently he's a big fan of Ibanez Musician basses. And why not - apart from being a little (or a lot dependent on your viewpoint) on the heavy side, they were a bass of choice in the early 80s - copping all the sounds of the time - you could even get an Alembic sound. They were quite expensive ($850 at the end of the 70s/beginning of the 80s). Phenomenal range of sounds and at the time p***ed all over Fenders, which were not in vogue. I remember seeing a function band where the bass player used one back then and was green with envy at the sound!! I particularly remember them doing the Whispers, And the Beat Goes On, and the bass sound matched the studio sound perfectly. An unsung classic bass which will cost you a fraction of the price of a similar aged Fender, which is shocking when you think an early 80s Fender was naff of the naff at the time (in the UK at least) - you could certainly get an impressive discount if you wanted to buy one back then!! Casio keyboards were more in demand than guitars also..... I may have a listen on iplayer (was out playing Auld Langs and Hokey Kokey at midnight!!)
I would like to extend to you an invitation to come and play my 1984 Precision. It is a wonderful bass. You could then compare it with all the other 80s Fenders you have played which has allowed you to form your OPINION. My OPINION is that I would not wish to own an Ibanez Musician as I find them too complicated, heavy, and not pleasing to look at. Mind you this is only my OPINION.

There is a company called 'Boyce' who make guitars and basses. They have a Facebook page. It might be one of their basses.

The copies all come and go and are fashionable for a while but Fender remains as the standard pro instrument.

I'm a bit fed up hearing that early 80s Japanese basses are superior to USA basses of the same period. In my opinion they are not. I have the most wonderful 1984 USA standard precision. I have also had Japenese offerings which I moved on quite quckly. It's all opinion so please don't state that one bass is better than another as if it was a fact. Take each bass on it's own merits which brings us all back to the point of this thread. I have no doubt that the bass for sale is an excellent bass and wish the seller every good wish in concluding a successful sale.
I grew up playing praise/worship bass - it was my main gig for roughly 10 years. it taught me to listen and be sensitive to the song, which has been invaluable on numerous gigs since. I stopped doing it because I kept encountering xenophobia (borderline racism in some instances) and homophobia and bigotry.
You were playing in the wrong church my friend. I completely understand your situation as I also encounter on a regular basis congregations who display the disgraceful facets that you found. Please don't think that all congregations are like this. It's always better to try out a church first before you commit yourself. Don't let it put you off playing in church!

Thanks Jack. We should have a time limit on threads.

I have been trying to find a period correct case for my 1984 Precision. I have been offered a case which may be correct. However, it's not what i thought was the right case. The lid of the case is different to what i thought I was looking for. Can anyone identify the era of the case in the pictures please.
Hope you enjoy the gig tomorrow night Hutton - should be a cracker!
The gig was superb Andy. Norman Watt-Roy was simply stunning. At one point Wilko's lead failed and NWR just took over until the lead was replaced. His solo work was immense, this man is a marvellous musician.
Troll-ish posts are subjective to the reader i find. Sure naivety (or having less experience of a subject) is likely to be provocative to some but surely the OP is seeking to gain insight?
If that is the case then perhaps he should have said he finds it difficult to listen to Jaco's music. He could then have appealed to the forum to help him to see where Jaco's talents lie. To use the provocative terms that he did were obviously not helpful.

I enjoyed the documentary. It has whetted my appetite as I'm going to see Wilko and the great Norman Watt-Roy tomorrow night in Aberdeen when they support Status Quo.

Can anyone throw any light as to why the American Standard Precision Bass is not currently showing on the Fender website?

*SOLD* Fender American Vintage Precision Bass 58 (AVRI)

Here's my three:- The Olympic White bass is a 2006 62 AVRI. The pic was taken when it was new in 2006. The colour has now faded nicely to a more creamy finish. The Ivory precision is a 1984 USA Standard which is a lovely bass and a joy to play. The Butterscotch Blonde is a 2004 USA Standard which fortunately managed to avoid the S1 switch.

Sold thanks. Fender Nate Mendel Precision 2014.

This is an excellent bass at a more than fair price. The seller is very well respected on this forum as a valued member and someone with whom it is very easy to deal. To offer less for this instrument is quite frankly ridiculous. If you want something then you have to pay for it! Sorry to have gone off topic but I feel quite strongly about this. Back to selling - A great bass at a great price! -
Just sold a Stingray Fretless to Andy. What a top guy. Credit to Basschat!
